Dd wishes make up toys from shimmer n sparkle. Is it worth it? And where can it be found for a good price?

DumplingsAndStew · 14/10/2020 19:12

@Arthien

Graphic tablet. I'm only going to mention one without a screen display, as thats all I have experience with, and what I assume you are after with your budget?

My teenage DC is a very keen artist, and wants to be an animator. A couple of years back I surprised her with a drawing tablet for Xmas after she had started drawing using Paint on her phone! It has hands-down been the most successful gift I have ever given, and has had daily use ever since.

www.amazon.co.uk/Drawing-Battery-free-Graphic-Support-Windows/dp/B01BEPY5RS?ref_=ast_sto_dp&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

This is the one she has. It's fantastically priced now, and worth every penny of it's full RRP, but obviously a massive bargain on offer (its come down on Black Friday past two years too btw)

She has now progressed to paid-for software (Photoshop, Elements, Creative Cloud etc), but for a long time used a free download software called Fire Alpaca, which did everything she needed, but IIRC wasn't great for the number of layers she likes to use with her art. We've never bothered with the glove thing as although it is very pressure sensitive (intended to be), she's never had an issue from making contact with the tablet with her hand whilst drawing. We have replaced the pen once after she dropped tea on it, but it comes with spare 'nibs' that are stored in the pen stand. We also just replaced the cable (around 12 quid from the XP website incl postage) after two years of very regular use.

She's now making noises about 'upgrading' to one with a display screen maybe next year, but is extremely keen on staying with the same brand, as she's had no issues whatsoever. She assumed the tablet had cost much, much more than it did Wink

Her art and drawing is a massive part of her life (ASD, very limited social life), and this has honestly been a gamechanger for her. The capability of this tablet has been amazing, especially for the price.

I hope that helps a bit on your search.

My £11 amazon fluffy hoodie came today and in all honesty I'm really impressed after some scathing reviews on here, my son will be over the moon with it it's soft and big, the fleece lining isn't the thickest but that was expected for the price. I'm glad i didn't cancel anyway.

XFPW · 14/10/2020 19:21

Oh my giddy aunt that Morphe website is irritating as hell with all their babe lingo going on, but gift is sorted. Y’all are amazing. HUGE thank you bargain ninjas!

Re the na na na prime day deal on Amazon. They are still dear at £58. Does anyone have one and think it would be worth that price? My DD is 8. thanks!

SleeptightDaisy · 14/10/2020 19:28

CoffeeAndEnnui thanks the toucan code my DD will love a Halloween treat.

TrickyD · 14/10/2020 19:29

DS just rang to say his robot vac has arrived and he is delighted! He admired ours, which is the straightforward carpet cleaner but he bought the one that also mops hard floors.
I can’t remember whether he got it on the Prime offer , or directly from Eufy who have some great deals.

Fuckingfuckssake · 14/10/2020 19:31

@DumplingsAndStew thank you for that, jumping on but could I ask what the version is with the screen? I've never heard of these before but I think it would be perfect for my DS.

TheGriffle · 14/10/2020 19:36

*70% off dr botanicals with code OCT70

buckeejit · 14/10/2020 19:42

@DumplingsAndStew what a review! I'm now considering that for ds although we don't need it, recently bought an iPad & Apple Pencil but wondering if that would be better.

Dr Botanicals - do not buy the essential oils 3 pack, they are no good & are blended

Arthien · 14/10/2020 19:43

@Elskerdeg thank you for the recommendation!

@DumplingsAndStew thanks for the comprehensive post, that’s really good to know that the cheaper ones can do the job. I think it’ll make a great present for DH as he loves both drawing and tech!

Off for a browse...

1AngelicFruitCake · 14/10/2020 19:45

Thank you so much for the toucan box. I’m really excited to see it!

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 14/10/2020 19:45

theonlyoneiknow ive just looked it up its so expensive!! My dds have the smaller ones that are around £20. They do like them and they are very cute and good quality. Not sure I'd spend over £50 though! Main issue with the dolls is the hair, it falls out and knots very easily. My youngest dd cuddles hers in bed as its softer than her lol dolls or barbies!

Madonnawiththebigboobies · 14/10/2020 19:46

*70%of dr botanicals with code OCT70. I think it says of everything. Not sure though . And looks like a generic code .

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 14/10/2020 19:46

Oh and to add my dd is also 8!
