Thread 11 - the one where everyone keeps writing the bargain info *in bold*

Reastie · 07/10/2020 16:22

Just keeping the title similar should anyone have missed the last title and info.

NEW INFO PLZ READ
**please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

@eliope
I’ll be waiting for your recommendation too as would like to get something unusual for DH this year. He’s had a japanese whisky before, was full of praise. (I can’t recall which one though).

PinkDaydreams · 10/10/2020 08:26

I was recently looking for a lap tray! I have bought plastic ones thankyou so that they can be easily washed :)

missrabbitismyhero · 10/10/2020 08:26

@Connellschain

I would be a bit careful of Lagavulin if I was you unless you are sure you know what his taste is.
Lagavulin is a peaty whisky and peaty whiskies can be a bit 'love them or hate them' so you might run the danger of him not liking it.

By whisky do you mean scotch whisky? If so, and you can't ask him for ideas of what he likes, I might go for something like the following:
Balvenie 14yo
Glenfarclas 15yo
Glenfiddich 18yo
They're around your price range on Master of Malt
(I worked in whisky for a time)

Martinisarebetterdirty · 10/10/2020 08:26

Was Hibiki the Japanese whisky? It’s utterly lovely and comes in a beautiful bottle.

PinkDaydreams · 10/10/2020 08:28

What was the verdict on Smyth's doing the spend however much get £5/£10 off? I've searched through and am seeing very mixed answers. I'm wondering whether to do two separate transactions at the entertainer today or wait and do one at Smyth's.

@Connellschain @Jacopone
You may well have more than enough recommendations already, but one more to add to the mix - my whisky-loving father-in-law’s favourite one is Edradour, made by the smallest distillery in Scotland. It can sometimes be hard to get hold of, but they have it at Master of Malt at the moment:

Emma10702 · 10/10/2020 08:50

Thanks for the nightie suggestions. I found some on gap which will do the job so thanks to @user1471440782 for that
It’s just for my daughter so I think next time I’m near primark i will check out the ladies T-shirt’s for her too. I bet she will be asking for pjs in a couple of weeks when it gets colder but she says she finds nighties comfier so I’ll just go with it

Galt 'Reactions" Marble Run down to £13.99 on Amazon... Rrp £25. One for budding engineers apparently!

@Connellschain @Martinisarebetterdirty yes , Habiki, I kept the bottle for ages as it's beautiful but I've recycled it. I've just gone down a delicious rabbit hole, dangerous on no sleep, on drinkfinder.com amazing little shop who deliver nationwide and what he doesn't know about whisky isn't worth knowing. They have a whisky vault where people store their investment bottles!
It doesn't look like they've got much of it in stock at the moment sadly. Hope that helps.

eliope · 10/10/2020 09:31

Nope wrong link, sorry, drinkfinder.co.uk

Trytowin20 · 10/10/2020 09:34

Hi, I usually lurk as I don't find the deals quick enough to share but has anyone seen the B and M Christmas initial sacks with an 'F' ? @ZIGGY911 I'm pretty sure mine had an S stocking but I went a few days ago 😞. Happy to look next time I'm in though.

suneetime · 10/10/2020 09:42

Joseph Joseph have 20% off everything this weekend with code JJ20%BDAY

pasinphoebe · 10/10/2020 09:48

Does anyone ever use Etsy or the like for bubble bars? I usually get one each for stockings - usually from lush. I was wondering if anyone had any tried and tested recommendations of any other sellers?
It’s the bubble bars I’m after really not bath bombs as you get a few uses out of them and the kids love the bubbles.

Feartheescalator · 10/10/2020 09:49

Are there any John Lewis discount code around at the moment for toys?

WisestIsShe · 10/10/2020 09:49

@trytowin20 I'm also in search of an F. Would be good to know they actually sell them.

Jacopone · 10/10/2020 09:50

@Bsgetty, thank you for your suggestion. I’ve never heard of Edradour but the description and reviews sound very interesting. It will go on my list for DH.
The power of Mumsnet is amazing. So many great ideas, so much fun. Yet, still no buns for me.
One bunch of elusive buns for £3.08. Now you see me, now you don’t.
On a serious note, I think it is some kind of algorithm on amazon that allows the random users see discounted price.

DarkHumour · 10/10/2020 09:52

Anyone ordered from Currys recently? Ordered a couple of Nintendo switch games separately using code FNDGGAME to get £5 off each, however I’ve just received two emails from Royal Mail saying both items have been returned to sender. I recall others were having a similar issues with John Lewis orders. Did everyone receive their orders? Thanks.

Jacopone · 10/10/2020 09:52

@eliope - thank you for Habiki recommendation and the link too!

Penguinbeaver · 10/10/2020 09:59

Quick buns

Carrie76 · 10/10/2020 10:01

For ROI shoppers Tesco have a lot of toy deals on at the moment. I thought this Marvel set was good value
