Title inspired by the sweltering heat today but I’m still planing Christmas!!!

Thank you to chips for keeping the seat warm for me.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

I’m tempted by the hygge bands to use as a face covering but the £4.39 postage is putting me right off.

BighouseLittlemouse · 08/08/2020 09:21

Hello everyone

I’ve browsed in the background mainly the last two years on these amazing threads but trying to get organised early this year. Just ordered two Olie and Nic bags though so wondering if this may be dangerous Wink

Just wanted to ask if anyone had seen an electronic diary suitable for a boy? My youngest DS turns 6 just before Xmas and I’m really struggling with gifts for him. Most of his friends are girls, he loves frozen, hatchimals as well as cars etc so quite different to my eldest DS! Anyway he’d love a lockable diary but I don’t think even he’d want one that is pink ( or rather despite my best efforts his brother and other male friends would tease him too much for him to enjoy it!). I can’t seem to find one in a different colour that isn’t the other extreme and has skulls or is camo etc!

treeeeemendous · 08/08/2020 09:37

@Gracesquirrel what sorts of things are you getting printed on these t shirts? We have a few places locally that do this but not much use to you unless you I've locally. Etsy and Redbubble do a wide range of different t shirts and you may be able to get someone to do a custom one for you.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 08/08/2020 10:08

bighouselittlemouse how about smiggle? Or sometimes the poundshop has them, ive bought character ones before like frozen or paw patrol.

oreocrumbs my daughter is 11 (12 in nov) some presents that have gone down well - fleece blankets, hot water bottles, snow globes, photo clips from primark. Bath bombs, face paints (to copy YouTube tutorials), fleecy dressing gown, funko figures for her favourite programme/films. She also loves playing the Nintendo switch (its a family console). Clothes - she likes funky leggings and quirky tshirts, i buy lots from h&m, reserved, qwertee. Hype backpack. Harry potter lego or brickheadz lego. Notebooks, colouring books and sharpies. Scratch art sets too have been popular.

My contribution to bargains - tesco have the big sharpie box set for £10 which would make a nice gift 😃

Luxplus · 08/08/2020 10:44

@BighouseLittlemouse I bought this for a friend of mine 6 year old son geppel.dk/produkt/dino-world-dagbog-med-musik-og-kodelaas/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMImv3XhKeL6wIVD9myCh334A7xEAQYASABEgL-fPD_BwE unfortunately it's from Denmark but hopefully you can perhaps search for it in the UK Smile

BighouseLittlemouse · 08/08/2020 11:19

Thanks both will take a look!

sorryiasked · 08/08/2020 12:17

@BighouseLittlemouse would a lockable journal be ok rather than a diary?
If so scholastic have this game over one, or this need for speed one or this secret agent one
Postage is £3.95 but they have some good stuff.

Duchessofealing · 08/08/2020 13:23

@BighouseLittlemouse I second Smiggle - I got my nephew a lockable book from there that looks like a football and I’m sure they had other ones that weren’t too pink and sparkly. In fact I’m pretty sure my daughter’s blue one is from smiggle too - but it is sparkly Smile

BadgerFace · 08/08/2020 13:31

I had no idea we needed a lumsie, thanks @sideorderofchips! Something for DD1 to go with the Nestling I didn’t know I needed for DD2 until the last thread! Grin

BighouseLittlemouse · 08/08/2020 13:37

Thanks everyone - I was ideally looking for an electronic one ( like the vtech - I know they do frozen but think even that is a bit too OTT). Maybe will just have to get a lockable one! He’s fine with sparkles and sequins - infact would prefer that to dinosaurs/footballs/pirates that are usually aimed at boys!

allatonce99 · 08/08/2020 13:37

Amazon have price matched the Toot Toot flex track that is in Argos for £11.99

sideorderofchips · 08/08/2020 14:01

@badgerface that's the problem isn't it. I didn't know I needed somethings till I saw. Them!

MulberryPeony · 08/08/2020 14:07

Thanks for the first official Christmas bargain thread!

Ooh a lockable journal would be great for my son too! Great idea @BighouseLittlemouse

Talking of outdoor toys... last year someone ordered some of those hanging pods for outdoors for around £30/£50 mark but they were from the US or somewhere. Did they come? Where they any good? Anyone seen any similar deals this year? Not just the seat ones / big ones you can lie out in that look like UFOs!

BicycleMadeForTwo · 08/08/2020 14:32

@MulberryPeony I’ve no idea what they were but I feel like I need one!

Thanks all for the bargains, have made a huge dent in my list. Struggling with the young adults that don’t have any hobbies though, may end up with the usual suspects of PJs / wash set.

Scanner20 · 08/08/2020 14:38

Argos have some nice Disney princess collections. Bath bubbles, bath bomb etc and some of the face sheet masks with hair band. All different ones, good for girls and face masks will be for older girls. From £5 to around £8/10, from £15/20.
I could only find all of them by putting in Disney princess. Also do spider man etc for boys. Great stocking fillers or a cheap pressie.

This is the belle set, they do jasmine and Ariel too, some have bath crayons in or make up bag etc

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 08/08/2020 15:01

Checking in, my mind has turned to autumn even though I’m baking hot today. My baby is off to uni (hopefully) in September. I’m planning to make her a little Xmas hamper to open on the 1st December. Festive things like lidded cup, earring, Xmas soap etc. Maybe a choc advent if I can find one. I should have got all this stuff in the January sales but I wasn’t well at the time. If anyone sees anything bargain Xmas themed online, give me a shout.

InDreamland · 08/08/2020 15:44

@NaturalBlondeYeahRight do you mean those travel coffee cups? They're fab, I bought a few in the Rex London sale (waiting for the delivery on Monday) which will be Christmas stocking fillers. Paid £2.95 each (heavily reduced). Don't think I saw any Christmas themed designs though but there are some lovely ones.

Just wanted to say thanks again to you all here for great tips on the bargains available and introducing me to Rex London and Lisa Angel - I wouldn't have got such great deals on stocking fillers for the family without you! Looking forward to deliveries from them. Was a bonus and nice surprise when I got £5 back for Lisa Angel on amex shop small too. I'm doing well with getting Christmas presents sorted early - got some great discounts on a couple of gifts for DD (currently 5 months) from ELC, the nieces are all done now for Christmas and all birthdays through to February. Also got DD a personalised stocking and personalised presents sack from Notonthehighstreet as it's her first Christmas (I'm so excited) - both on sale although looks like they're back up to full price on the website now.

Hophop26 · 08/08/2020 16:42

Anyone still after the big duplo box just been to Tesco and ours had them for £12.50, 2 different sets by look of it in the big green plastic storage box. We got this about 4 years ago and hugely played with
