Title inspired by the sweltering heat today but I’m still planing Christmas!!!

Thank you to chips for keeping the seat warm for me.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Not Christmas as such, but get 40% off 4 or more cards on Funky Pigeon, with code SAVE40

BEE08 · 08/08/2020 18:26

Thank you for the great tips too. I wouldn't of thought about Rex London, I, my sister and Mum have all got Bargains for Christmas stockings or presents.

InglouriousBasterd · 08/08/2020 18:29

Joining! Any recommendations for unusual lamps?! Very random but DD is getting more interested in her bedroom accessories and has been asking to replace hers!

sideorderofchips · 08/08/2020 18:39

Thank you @sodoffcovid I've ordered one for baby chips

https://www.byterry.com/sale/ ByTerry Sale Site]

I was looking for some presents for my best girlfriends and found that there are some real savings on the ByTerry site. Their products normally sell for £££ in places like SpaceNK but I bought the City Mask for £21.90 down from £73 along with some other bits.

I am loving this thread and already feel more organised ahead of the big day.

Any ideas for my 10 year old DS who will be almost 11? What he really wants is a tablet but I'm hoping to keep that until he gets to senior school.

xoxogossipgirl2020 · 08/08/2020 18:58

Oooh I don’t think I’ve ever managed to be on these threads from thread 1! So exciting!

One thing I’m absolutely certain I’m after this year for DD 10th birthday in December is a sewing machine - if anybody can make any reccomendstions that would be great, if they are a bargain, even bloody better!!!

sideorderofchips · 08/08/2020 19:27

What about a travel sewing machine as a starter?

Clevererthanyou · 08/08/2020 19:32

Hey everyone, I wanted to thank whoever posted about the monster trucks because mine came back and I think it’s an excellent product for a fabulously low price. It has genuine kinetic branded sand made to look like dirt and the details on the truck are hilarious. I would say my son loves it but it’s mine 🙈

I am a beginner at sewing and asked around sewing friends. My DH bought me this one from John Lewis. Unsurprisingly they are all out of stock at the moment but it’s pretty (comes in different colours) super study and easy to set up and use (for me)
Was cheaper than this, it might be a bit much for a ten year old, but if you wanted to share.......

@InglouriousBasterd what kind of price point for the lamps?

1000mangoesinabirthdaycake · 08/08/2020 20:21

Does anyone know of any train sets for youngsters that are or are likely to come on offer? We have a small John Lewis wooden track and I believe it's compatible with brio, big jigs etc, so will be looking for a big set of track but not sure where to look for reductions.

Luxplus · 08/08/2020 20:27

Surprise bags from Småfolk www.smafolk.dk/da/online-lagersalgs-lykkeposer/c-64
Bought one for each of my dds, they arrived today with loads of nice dresses, a bike helmet, towel and swimsuit Grin

Vebrithien · 08/08/2020 20:33

1000mangoes the IKEA wooden trains and tracks are good, and often have IKEA family discounts. They are compatible with Brio and other wooden trains sets. The battery powered train is brilliant.

Argos also had a train table in their clearance, will see if I can find a link

Vebrithien · 08/08/2020 20:35

Argos clearance train table £30

Vebrithien · 08/08/2020 20:36

That is also compatible with Brio

PinkDaydreams · 08/08/2020 20:56

Sainsburys had a wooden train set reduced in store the other day, I’m unsure of the price though sorry.

InglouriousBasterd · 08/08/2020 21:29

@tentative3 not too pricey - she’s also after an instax! Maybe around the 20-30 mark? But flexible. Did you have something in mind?

WisestIsShe · 08/08/2020 21:41

@InglouriousBasterd if your DD has a mobile of suggest getting a sprocket printer instead of an Instax. DD has both, got the Instax in 2018 Christmas and loved it, got the sprocket last year on impulse and it's so much more versatile. Every pic you take on the Instax gets printed, and the contrast is poor. By comparison the sprocket can print any picture from your phone so you can have snap chat filters, make collages etc. Works out much cheaper on photos because they only print the really good ones.

InglouriousBasterd · 08/08/2020 21:53

@WisestIsShe thank you, that’s a fab recommendation! She has a mobile so I’ll push her more towards that. I was wincing at the cost of the refills etc!

WisestIsShe · 08/08/2020 22:01

@InglouriousBasterd oh the paper is still stupidly expensive but hopefully not as much wasted. Loads of bargain hunters got the sprocket last year at black Friday time I think for about £79.

InglouriousBasterd · 08/08/2020 22:08

That’s perfect, thank you!!
