Big flowers on our courgettes now and peas fit to burst. Any gardeners out there know how to know when to harvest my pea pods TIA

NoWordForFluffy · 10/07/2020 16:33

When they're nice and fat!

OP posts:
MarshmallowManiac · 10/07/2020 16:51

Thanks Fluffy might give them a go next week. Any nice recipes I could do with them please ladies? Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 10/07/2020 17:18

With peas? They don't make it inside here! And if they do, they're eaten as is.

We had a lovely day, didn't get a lot but enjoyed ourselves just the two of us , weather was dry and sunny on times Grin
'Mrs how is Mr after yesterday? Is he still basking in the glory of his achievements? ' Grin Boot he most certainly is !
In Costco Dh was very taken with the 85 inch telly, l didn't give in though Grin Grin Not on my Nellie ! Smile
Mum rang this morning wanting me to get her some foam for us to make a cushion for said 'pretty white bench'. I am not going to do anything of the sort, she is taking the Micky big time l do too much as it is . Does anyone know where can get a 150 cm length seat pad for a garden bench please? l have been looking all over the net and found nowt! Smile
Isn't Rishi going to give home owners a 5k grant to do house improvement ? All this talk of boilers has reminded me there were rumours of him doing something like this .
Hope everyone has had a lovely day Flowers

Mrsmadevans · 10/07/2020 17:37

Ahh just been thinking, all that ompressed steam being let off, won't it cause condensation in the house , l have to be very careful here because of condensation causing mould Hmm

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/07/2020 17:58

MrsMad I can't find any physical shops but this is on eBay. Other colours are available but I figured you'd like a nice Welsh red. It would easily cost that to have a pad cut to size and then get fabric to cover it.

Wreck sorry to hear about your job application. Their loss Thanks How lovely that your DD got a glowing report. It was DS's last day at school today and we tuned in to the final assembly this morning. I was in tears by the end - the school have been great but they were so positive about how every child has been working as hard as they can but more importantly have been so resilient about the changes and stressed how being happy was the most important thing.

Fluffy how much notice do you have to work?

70 syrup sponge is amazing. Even better homemade.

DM had an old fashioned pressure cooker with an evil valve. It was great for soups and the Christmas pudding but she also used it for vegetables. Pressure cooked cabbage and broccoli have a very interesting texture 🤮

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/07/2020 18:02

70 I bought these electric guitar themed socks for my DS to go in his stocking. They came from the US so took a couple of weeks to arrive but the came today and look fab. He'd love a strat but he'll have to wait for his 21st too!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/07/2020 18:38

The socks are lovely Woolly , my DS is very laid back with clothes ( not into labels unlike DD ) , I buy all his clothes when I see something I think he'd like .
He gets underwear/PJs in his Dec 1st Hamper , those socks are definately going in .
He;s 21 in Dec so a joint birthday/Christmas guitar +amp and some traditional Dec 1st things will be on the list .

I used the pressure cooker to do potatoes for mash , not as much steam as I feared (certainly not Vesuvius like DMums one ) I put the cooker Ex Pel Air thingie on,

I am getting adverts on the side for Balsam Hill Trees Christmas in July sale ................... pre lit wreath looks really lovely but my QVC one is still hanging on.
Might be a lit swag as the cats have vetoed the tree ...?

Mrsmadevans · 10/07/2020 18:44

Ahhh Woolly thank you so much that is so kind of you to find that for me [smile ]I will go armed with the link on my phone tomorrow, hope you are feeling a lot better Flowers l seem to remember the texture of the cabbage and broccoli done in the pressure cooker it was very mushy if l recall Grin
Wreck l didn't see your about the job interview, that's a bgr , ahhh bless you Flowers but keep going & like Woolly says it's totally their loss!

Mrsmadevans · 10/07/2020 18:50

Lovely socks Woolly he will love them and they look good quality materials too Smile
70 my Ads are just the MN PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION, I would love Balsam Hill Trees Christmas in July sale ads on the side Smile

pussycatinboots · 10/07/2020 20:31

Mrs 85 inches??? Bloody hell! I could sit at the bottom of the garden and still be too close Shock
I knew you'd be looking for a cushion! If she doesn't like Woollys, you could get these, then they could use one for their back too?www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-seat-pad-blue-stripe/p/0487125

pussycatinboots · 10/07/2020 20:38

Marshmallow Soup? Grin

MarshmallowManiac · 10/07/2020 20:46

Good idea thanks Boots, love pea soup Smile

CrazyBaubles · 10/07/2020 22:42

Welcome bear

No pressure cooker here and I've just just given away our slow cooker here We had it for years and barely used it.
Only thing we have is a steamer saucepan tower thing that cooks all the veg for a roast dinner for 2 in one place.

Sorry about the job Wreck. Keep looking though, apply for everything that takes your fancy.

most I loved Bluestone. The spa treatments are great and last time I went we spotted a Wales rugby player 😁

70 a pre-lit swag would be a good shout as you'll need some Christmas greenery if you don't have a tree!

Marshmallow I turn everything into soup 😂
I actually made a few batches yesterday (tomato, leek & potato and Carrot & ginger).

I worked until 2:30 today then met dsis and nephews & niece in the park. The babies are nuts, lots of pent up energy was burnt away chasing birds and looking at 'flows' (flowers), 'tees' (trees), 'gas' (grass) and 'ooh-ders' which are birds apparently 😂
Home for dog walk and now feet up with a (premixed can of) Mojito. I'll be falling asleep any second now lol

NoWordForFluffy · 10/07/2020 23:02

Sorry, Wreck, I missed about the job. Their loss. Onwards and upwards to a position that'll be made for you!

Crazy, we don't have a slow cooker either. We have DH, who's a slow cook. But it's not quite the same! 😂😂

85 inches is too big for me too, Mrs! That's twice the size of our TV! How big is your lounge?!

Pressure cooker veg = grey sludge, no? 🤮🤮 With that old people's home smell.

Woolly, my notice is 3 months, but they might let me go early, when they review in a month or so.

My cross stitch is slowly coming on. I doubt I'll do any tomorrow though as I've got a full day / night ahead of me.

Sleep time now!

We got carried away watching Lady Gaga at Glasto. Obviously!

Allotment tomorrow, mostly for weeding!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 11/07/2020 06:53

I tried adding home grown peas to a risotto. By the time it came to add them I had eaten them all Grin

I think we might push the boat out and go further than 5 miles away today!

pussycatinboots · 11/07/2020 07:04

most steady, now! We don't want you getting lost Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 11/07/2020 07:45

I picked some peas at the allotment last week, brought them home and shelled them intending on adding them to the small amount in the freezer which are for Christmas dinner.

By the time they were shelled, dinner was ready, so I left them in a bowl in the kitchen. After dinner, DH was sorting them kitchen and DS went to get something. Next thing I know, DS is coming through the door saying 'Look, I found yummy peas!' And he and DD ate them. Fail.

Morning

I've been awake since 7, it's a beautiful day out up to now blue sky and sun. Probably won't last though. We had some very heavy rain yesterday.

Ds has asked to come with me to do the food shop this morning, he's not been to the supermarket with me since just before the lockdown started. Wonder what he's after 😁

Fluffy your cross stitch is coming along great, so quick, which design are you doing now? Mine may be finished by next Christmas at this rate😆

NoWordForFluffy · 11/07/2020 08:30

This one, KV.

It's called 'Christmas Toy Shop' and it's a John Clayton Heritage one.

My last JC one took 3 months to do, so I'm thinking this will be similar.

It's slightly cloudy but dry here. The cloud is meant to burn off though.

Beautiful here this morning and set to remain so :) just having pancakes for breakfast. Going to the depot afterwards although I suspect none of the parcels there are my cross stitch :(

NoWordForFluffy · 11/07/2020 08:40

Where was it coming from, Most? Surely it must be, given that it's been 2 weeks?

OP posts:
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 11/07/2020 08:51

It's coming from Lithuania Fluffy turns out! So it may take a while then add in our generally delayed post on top of that.
