Morning. Welcome to our new thread.

We maybe have rain today. I really hope we do! I have no ides when we last had it.

I'm baking with the kids today plus potting some plants on. Exciting. No idea where they'll go, mind you!

Only 2 days left of furlough. Yaaay for the financial side and booooo otherwise! 😂

Fingers crossed Wreck l am sure they will be excellent Smile

WreckTangled · 27/05/2020 07:32

212.

Morning. The weather is looking even hotter next week. The paddling pool (new) has a hole in it where the car climbed on it Angry

I think there might be some cloud later today. I don't have much else to say, we're not doing anything so nothing to report on Grin my favourite cafe is open for take away and I'm very tempted but should save our money and not risk it.

Morning!

It's meant to be nice here today and until Monday. ☀️☀️

It's allotment day today. I need to get my leeks in the ground, weed a load of mares tail, sow replacement zebra beans as the wind annihilated them, do some heavier weeding and DH is coming to help me replace the fruit cage netting later (he's also putting a fence on the front).

First: getting up!

Good luck with the bloods, Wreck. When do you get the results?

Sorry about your DH, Most. Ear infections are awful, poor bloke. He definitely needs an ENT referral.

But yay re the cucumbers. Is your DS pleased?

Flour here has been non-existent. Until I saw a load of plain in Aldi the other night. And my Sainsbury's favourites are showing as unavailable, but with a different flour to buy instead, so it looks like there's some around.

I think some will be in today fluffy. There's one which the lab doesn't test every day anyway so it's pot luck as to which day it goes in, it might not be in until tomorrow or Friday and that's the one I want!

WreckTangled · 27/05/2020 08:47

Most bloods were back yesterday all ok. Cholesterol down a bit. Still waiting for my hba1c which is the one I really want...

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 27/05/2020 09:51

Great news wreck :)

He was very pleased fluffy :)

Just back from the allotment, got down there early while still cool. Lots of weeding to do and watering. Also got the runner beans into the ground :) DS had his first ripe strawberry and was over the moon. Should be 3 more ready next time we go.

Now for a day of relaxing in the garden :)

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 27/05/2020 09:59

Oh and I accidentally dug up a potato with my hoe Grin

BiddyPop · 27/05/2020 12:03

It went cloudy and dull after a sunny start yesterday, but seems to be staying sunny with the barest hint of high cloud streaks in the sky at the moment. Fingers crossed it stays that way for a while at least (we have an outdoors yoga class on the green at lunchtime - fully socially distanced of course!). Need to do a lot of watering in the evenings though.

Fluffy how do you get rid of mares tail? Some has popped up in the garden and I haven't had it before but remember reading something years ago about it needing specific treatment...not just pull it out.

Congrats Most on the cucumbers and the first strawberry!! One potato could be a Spanish omelette ingredient?! I hope DH's ear is better soon.

Oh dear Wreck is the cat now on punishment rations?! No Felix for him/her this week?! Would some Duck tape or similar work to patch the hole?

Love the mug Neros!

Sounds like DM and Bob are starting to behave themselves again MrsMad, I hope they realise how lucky they are with you and DH. Although I was a bit [shocked] at your DSis and the reason for the tomato plants!!

Hi to everyone I've missed. Busy but productive here Chez Biddy - I'm making some progress with the urgent project I've been redeployed to do, although it's been split in 2 due to other people not being able to manage the necessary speed so extra paperwork and bureaucracy. DD is now finished her exams, most of the teachers are going through the papers this week with them, and some have a couple of fun activities, before the end of year assembly on Friday afternoon (for which Head has asked them all to wear school uniform for the zoom! He's optimistic!). DH is trying to get back to doing some of his meetings on walks. And my black cotton arrived yesterday, so I will be back sewing for our bank holiday weekend this weekend, making a few masks for DD.

WreckTangled · 27/05/2020 16:06

Bloods back. Feeling pretty pleased although I know I need to do much better still Grin

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 27/05/2020 16:12

My huts are done!

Biddy you are so busy , glad you are getting some well earned Yoga relaxation at lunchtime it sounds great fun & very beneficial. Even l was shocked at my DSis to be honest. She's obsessed with money though Hmm , Bob & Mum are fine thank God , they are keeping each other company & safe so it's all l can ask for really Smile

Awake early, everyone else is still asleep. It's much cooler today says it's going to be 22°.

Something very strange is happening in the Tangled household today.... DH is not working Shock weirdly I feel like we should be doing something, under normal circumstance we would jump in the car/on the train and head to London for the day Sad BUT we have a big garden and food in the house (sort of) so will enjoy a day at home.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/05/2020 06:44

Morning!

We have warmer weather here so the paddling pool is going out! DS is really looking forward to it!

Biddy, I dig mares tail as I'm chemical free. It's a never ending job, but I didn't get an allotment to then use chemicals.

Wreck, well done on the bloods. You're quite strict with your diet in the main, so I'm glad the results reflect that.

Mrs, yes I'm back to work today. Booo. Need a lottery win.

I'm glad your mum and poor Bob are OK.

Most, I ❤️ the huts too. They're adorable. Have you got a frame for it?

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/05/2020 07:07

Enjoy your day wreck :) DH is off this week and it was meant to be lovely, relaxed family time but he has had his ear infection and I am exhausted from doing all the night wakings and early mornings (and no I don't have a baby but a 4yo 😭). He has promised me that if he feels well enough today he will do all the childcare and I can rest so really hope he is up to it when he wakes up. We can then have lovely family days tomorrow and the weekend which is better than nothing :)

My allotment is full of mare's tail and bindweed too fluffy and I refuse to use chemicals. At the moment I am hoeing the beds. In the autumn I will dig over the whole plot and get rid of as many roots as possible and then cover with weed membrane over the winter while I make a plan for next year.

I don't have a frame for the huts yet but that is the plan :) Have now moved on to finishing off my Victorian House which is a massive one!!!

Countdown to Christmas 2020 - Lockdown: Peaked! (Thread 5)
NoWordForFluffy · 28/05/2020 07:17

Neither will care about that, Most! Mares tail comes from a few metres down and was around with the dinosaurs. We have no hope! 😂 And bindweed grows from the tiniest bit left in the ground.

So, I just pull it as I see it and remove what roots I can. I did get two root balls and about 20m of root from my raspberry cage though, which I'm pleased about. I know I didn't get it all though, but I'm not taking the raspberries out!

OP posts:
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/05/2020 07:20

Oh lawks fluffy. I hoping that putting structure into my allotment like paths, raised beds etc may at least make it easier to control!

NoWordForFluffy · 28/05/2020 07:35

I'd be rich if mares tail was worth anything. My plot is terrible. Plot 1 worse than plot 2 though. It grows so bloody quickly too!

NerosFiddle · 28/05/2020 08:16

Morning all.

It's to be beautiful here too. I think I'll take out the paddling pool too.

I have no idea what mares tails are so don't know if I have them. We do have a crazy amount of weeds.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/05/2020 08:25

They look like tiny Christmas trees Nero Grin

Mrsmadevans · 28/05/2020 08:36

Morning everyone 😀
Beautiful day here already 🤗 l should be ashamed of myself l left the washing out last night to get darked on 😂😂😂
Am off from Mum & Bob's today going to clean the bedrooms and bathroom then off to Monmouth to
M & S & Lidl.
Fluffy the bindweed looks so pretty too 🙄 damn stuff.
Sorry you are back in work today but weather is supposed to be lovely for the next week if that is any compensation 🤗🌞💐
Most that's bad luck with your DH being poorly on your holiday week. Hope he is much better today for you all to get a bit of R&R together as a family 💐 l love the x stitch it's gorgeous. I have a bit of a thing for things with house patterns in it 😂 I regret not buying a Cath Kidston bag with houses on it years ago . I loved it. 🤗❤️
Wreck your day sounds perfect , enjoy ❤️🤗
Better shift bedrooms calling 🙄🤪😄

Mrsmadevans · 28/05/2020 08:42

Morning Nero pool sounds like a great idea my friend is 57 and she gets here out to sit in when it's boiling , she loves it , her 22 yr old son gets in it too 😄🔵😂
Must get some more ice cream today 🤗🍧🍨🍦

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/05/2020 08:46

It is only 8:45 and I am boiling, the paddling pool will definitely be out here today! We are going to head to Belle Vue Park first thing for a walk and an ice cream as the cafe is doing take away. They are doing a delicious looking afternoon tea, I think I will order one for Father's Day.

Mrsmadevans · 28/05/2020 08:51

That sounds lovely Most DH is a lucky man🤗
The Morrison's afternoon tea for VE day was gorgeous l must see if they are doing something like that again Thank you for the heads-up 😄👍

WreckTangled · 28/05/2020 09:03
