I'm baking with the kids today plus potting some plants on. Exciting. No idea where they'll go, mind you!

Only 2 days left of furlough. Yaaay for the financial side and booooo otherwise! 😂

70 NAY NAY & THRICE NAY Envy can't bear KL urggghhh , he is vile l tell ye vile!

Mrsmadevans · 25/05/2020 14:20

Biddy they do that a lot in Lidl , the Halloumi sounds gorgeous Smile
They sell American peanut puffs, Vanilla & Blueberry corn Kallo crispbreads , their frozen crab in a shell. The Marmite peanuts , the Branston Pickle peanuts . The lovely ready meal hotdogs we love all those but they are not on sale all the time there. My Dh loves especially loves the crab in the shell. They have the best tasting Smoky bacon crisps you ever had and their Stilton and Port hand cooked crisps are delicious. So my Rudolphus prep today is to write all these in my notebook to remind me to get them for Chrismas ..Yay!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/05/2020 14:26

What not even his little manky old raincoat and his newts?

Lidl at Christmas is a joy - it is so random.
I got a box of Stella Artois in the Christmas bottles a couple of years ago. And the dark chocolate marzipan is delish .

FireflyGirl · 25/05/2020 15:33

Happy Rudolph Day!

I've been feeling a bit rubbish and sorry for myself the last few days, but seem to have perked up a bit today.

My DM managed to get me some gro-bags and compost, so I have spent most of the morning in the greenhouse planting it up. And trying to rescue my flowers, which were knocked over by flying panels in the winds.

I have a strawberry that is nearly ripe! And the peas are flowering and there are nearly flowers on my tomatoes!

Went to the allotment yesterday, was a bit depressing. Between wind and lack of rain, the weeds are flourishing but everything I'd planted has been scorched or broken Sad.

I asked DH to plant the peas out in the trench I'd dug for them. Rather than the carefully dug trench next to the pea net, he planted them in the 'trench' that is actually the path between the beds... this also meant that they had no access to water so are all shrivelled. If I didn't laugh, I'd cry Hmm

Mrsmadevans · 25/05/2020 15:45

'the dark chocolate marzipan is delish ' it is 70
must add that to my list Grin
Fire ahhh bless you lovely Flowers glad you have perked up and lovely news re the strawbs , the gro bags and the peas and toms Smile
Don't let it get to you, just think you could have a Bob n Barbara like moi Grin , now if that doesn't make you smile l don't know what will Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 25/05/2020 22:39

Ken Livingstone?! 😱🤮😱🤮😱🤮

I eat stuff I've dropped, but not when it's spread like that, Wreck. What was it before it jumped?!

Firefly, we had 2 strawberries which were almost ready but the bloody pheasant had them. I need to net, but then weeding is a pain. Sigh.

I've now finished weeding my raspberry cage. I got a huge amount of bindweed root out. I love it when you pull it and it goes for miles!

I'd be really annoyed at DH in that situation, Firefly. It does make you wonder, doesn't it?

Mrs, marzipan is grim. I'm not big on dark chocolate either.

I lost a fair few beans in the wind. I'm not sure my sweetcorn will make it either. It's all leaning now! Frustrating.

It was tuna salad Sad the cat thought all his birthdays had come at once.

I've got to have a blood test this morning so DH is staying home until I get back.

pussycatinboots · 26/05/2020 07:51

Lucky cat 😻 Wreck Grin I bet there wasn't much left when he'd finished.
fluffy I'm with you on marzipan. Awful stuff🤢 it spoils many a good fruit cake.
Firefly Men eh? DH has killed his Apple tree. I thought it would be salvageable with some pruning and lots of water he has drowned everything else ffs, but I turned my back for 10 mins and it's been hacked and chopped and is in the garden waste bin Shock He's also removed all of the self-seeded mimulus because he thought they were weeds. Tit. 🤬🤬 He's banned from weeding from now on.
Mrs What would Dom do?
Would he risk a kiss with his Mrs😘 ?
or would he be cautious😷 ?
Let conscience be your guide...Wink

Morning! We woke at 8, and the kids at 8.30, today. 😁 I needed that sleep as I've been going to bed too late and waking too early recently. I need to get my sleep pattern back under control.

Boots, your DH just needs to stay out of the bloody garden. He's a liability!

I have the joy of a trip to Wilko today. Exciting times! 😂 DH is going to the tip with the many sacks of weeds from the allotment. I'll be filling loads more this week so we need to have those ones gone.

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 26/05/2020 09:56

I'd love a trip to Wilko...

I have to live vicariously through my DM. There's a cheeky blackbird in the front garden, and he was running around while I was talking to her last week. Mentioned I should get some hanging feeders so he's not on the ground at the mercy of the cats, and she's brought me a 'luxury bird feeder' for him, complete with water dish. She's a good egg!

There's space to hang peanut feeders, and a dish that I've filled with fruit and the sawfly larvae off my joostaberry. Hah! Grin

I'm sat supervising DS in the back garden, and he's just sauntered past while R-Cat sunbathes about 10 feet away Confused

FireflyGirl · 26/05/2020 10:28

Wreck am I right in thinking your DD wanted Nandos for her birthday soon? They're opening 44 stores for delivery/collection.

FireflyGirl · 26/05/2020 10:29

They have an 'openings' page.

WreckTangled · 26/05/2020 11:08

Ah thanks fire we aren't close to any Nando's, even the closed ones Grin the Tesco where I get my click and collect is near one but that's not opening.

I'm sunbathing, it's like being on holiday Grin

pussycatinboots · 26/05/2020 13:29

Wreck it's grey and gloomy here. Not seen the sun since 4am...DH decided to get up early Confused
Firefly We've a blackbird, he comes to me for sultanas and mealworms if I whistle him Grin He did a good job (with his Mrs) last year and had 4 chicks - they're all still hanging around too.
Morrisons was quiet this morning - they've loads of plain flour in.
fluffy he's painting bits of fence (again) where the birds have been doing some target practice Grin instead of washing it off Hmm

WreckTangled · 26/05/2020 14:14

Oh no! It's 26° here so we've come indoors to cool off. The dc have been in the paddling pool too.

I'm going to put away some washing and close the dc's curtains. It gets so hot in there.

FireflyGirl · 26/05/2020 15:14

It's grey and gloomy here, as well. But I've finished planting up the greenhouse, repotting my flowers, and have planted up the raised bed in the front. The front is a bit barren as I've had to plant seeds instead of plants - my kale/lettuce/salad seedlings were all flipped out of their trays by the winds last week, despite being on the ground Shock.

Next job is getting the allotment ready - it needs a really good water before I put anything in!

NerosFiddle · 26/05/2020 15:24

Afternoon.

We went out for drive this morning so we could go a walk by the coast. It was windy but beautiful. We had a nice picnic in the car.

A local company are making mugs for key workers and nhs staff. With all the proceeds going to charity. I bought one for dh.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/05/2020 16:27

It brightened up here at about 1pm. It's now rather lovely indeed!

I went to Wilko but there were no pots in the size I wanted. So I bought buckets instead! 😂 Which were cheaper.

I got more bird seed as well, so they'll be happy (plus new feeders as the wind killed ours!).

Did you say your allotment has no water on site, Firefly? I couldn't cope with that! I'm so pleased that I've bought a hosepipe; it's brilliant. I can get about 3x the water onto the plants in the same time.

I think flour is coming back into stock now. We have our 2x16kg bags, however! 😂

Wreck, our weather is like that from about Thursday on. When I'm back at work!

Our fences need painting, Boots. Send him round I'll lock up the watering equipment!

Most, did you sow your cucumbers by the way?

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 26/05/2020 16:42

Glad that people seem to be enjoying their day :) Lovely weather here, DS has been in the paddling pool.

DH has an ear infection so am having to pick up most of the childcare and housework etc. So glad it is half term and I'm not having to balance work too! Once things are back to normal am going to get DH to see an ENT specialist as he gets ear infections regularly and they floor him.

We sowed six fluffy and they have all germinated in the last 24 hours :)

Mrsmadevans · 26/05/2020 16:54

It has been another beautiful day here Smile
Sorted Mum & Bob , they had a lovely tea curtesy of DH , toad in the hole, extra sausages fried onions, potatoes , carrots & gravy , it looked and smelled delicious ! I folded all the washing strategically, so no ironing Grin
Bloody hell Boot you will have to lock DH up or there will be nowt left to garden love Grin . Have examined my conscience I am risking it all for the love of my man Grin Grin Grin
Nero sounds like you had a lovely day out Smile that Mug is fab Smile
Fire you been very busy love and your Dm buying you the bird restaurant was just lovely of her, your afternoon sounds idyllic , watching Ds and cat in the garden , lovely , never heard of a Jostaberry before Flowers
Wreck hope the blood test went well knowing how good you are with your diet l am sure it will be Flowers
Fluffy Wilko's is such good value isn't it l love it in there they have a bit of everything fair dos , l missed the pic n mix though Grin

Mrsmadevans · 26/05/2020 16:59

Fluffy they still don't have any flour in my local Tesco or Morrisons !
Most hope Dh is ok Flowers , am thinking about getting DD2 to see the ENT specialist when things are back to normal, her tonsils are still enormous after the 3 week course of antibiotics & she is snoring her head off when she is asleep.

Mrsmadevans · 26/05/2020 17:48

Matt Hancock totally pissed off tonight before he even started the update grin what a shit shower they all are.
On a plus point no deaths in NI in the last 24 hrs & Remdesivir seems to be helping patients recover quicker thankfully Smile

WreckTangled · 26/05/2020 18:25

Mrs that's so annoying! I've been lucky to get both flours and know the local garage and deli has some.

Most poor dh ear infections are horrible.

Mrs I love toad in the hole! My blood results can be viewed online so fingers crossed for good numbers when they come in.
