Morning. Welcome to our new thread.

We maybe have rain today. I really hope we do! I have no ides when we last had it.

I'm baking with the kids today plus potting some plants on. Exciting. No idea where they'll go, mind you!

Only 2 days left of furlough. Yaaay for the financial side and booooo otherwise! 😂

70 your DD had a point...

WreckTangled · 20/05/2020 08:08

I don't like fish apart from tinned tuna and fish cakes which are basically just mashed potato Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/05/2020 08:38

Ahh but I don't want to eat them boots I just like looking at them.
And when they're in one piece , it's like they're in suspended animation (almost)

I don't like swimming with fish (did this once in Turkey but I hadn't realised there were fish in the water Doh ! . I would not have gone in there if I'd known )

I love the colours of mackerel , I just don't think "Yummy" .

My DD has her work cut out Xmas Blush

FireflyGirl · 20/05/2020 08:43

I also don't like fish (apart from fish and chips fish, obviously) or ice cream particularly (except Mr Whippy at the seaside) Grin.

I did order almond magnums with the shopping last week, though, which I have been working my way through Blush

I do like Oreos (biscuit of choice in this house, as they're dairy free, and I have a very sweet tooth), chicken kebabs and curry flavoured Pot Noodles (though I haven't had one for years!)

boots I could get with curry for lunch! And I'd love a fish and chip supper, but we're quite rural so nowhere local delivers. First thing I'm having when the local shop opens again!!

The Coo is looking good, Fluffy! DH borrowed my whisker plucking tweezers a couple of weeks ago to fiddle with computer parts and then couldn't find them. I told him I could spin that as a reason for justifiable homicide...

Flowers MrsM. If your mum wants to clean the windows, let her get on with it, but point out of she breaks her hip falling off, noone is going to be able to visit her in hospital! Has your DSis bothered with her since she moved into Bob's?

WreckTangled · 20/05/2020 09:31

The echo dot with the clock just went down to £39.99 so I quickly bought it!

Well done, Wreck!

Gorgeous weather here today. ☀️

So many fish haters here! 😱😱 I love fish!

70, I can't share your fascination, however.

BiddyPop · 20/05/2020 09:58

Morning all, lovely sunny start here although it’s due to be cloudy later.

Fish - hmm - DH pretty much loves all fish, but I have a thing about small bones and very strong flavoured fish, so don’t eat mackerel or sardines and only rarely things like trout. But we’re getting big better at being adventurous- shellfish risotto is lovely and I’ve started doing curries with monkfish and salmon as well as more usual pan fried or grilled cooking.

Work is bananas but there is a girl across the green starting an outdoors and socially distanced yoga class at lunch so I am hoping to get out and stretch!!

CrazyBaubles · 20/05/2020 10:09

MrsMad I have shish kebabs rather than the mound of scrappy meats they rotate on the skewer. I usually make my own now, they're delicious.

Fluffy saying "it's not a fishy fish" is exactly how DH sold the meal to me 😂

Wreck I didn't think of fish cakes - that is going to be my next suggestion!
Yay for the dot coming down in price!

70 swimming with fish makes me 🤢 I will walk in the shallows of the sea (like just above my ankles). DH also convinced me to get in a still lake in Macedonia once and fish came straight up and started bashing my legs. I couldn't get out fast enough, it was horrible.

Firefly I have 3 sets of tweezers (bedroom, living room & bathroom) because DH took to using them and I can't be without for more than a day or 2 - my out of whack hormones give me love I face whiskers Blush

Biddy getting out for a stretch at lunch sounds like a good plan. I'm doing yoga for beginners videos at home and it's really helping.

I'm avoiding any shellfish discussions with DH. His favourite thing is scallops and he also likes scampi, prawns and mussels but I can't get my head around eating them.

It's a lovely day here. I'm clearing the wash basket today. Not sure what else I'm doing, some work stuff and some crafty bits.

FireflyGirl · 20/05/2020 13:50

Yoga sounds lovely, Biddy, especially on a day like today.

We've had the paddling pool out this morning, and are now hiding in the house as I can't be bothered to reapply sun cream.

DS spent the morning playing with containers, food colouring and water - that's maths (amount of water in each container), science (colour mixing) and physical education (running back and forth to the paddling pool for water and squeezing the food colouring out). I'm killing this homeschooling lark Grin

Crazy I always had just one on my chin, but after DS they've gone crazy. There's at least a dozen now Blush

BiddyPop · 20/05/2020 13:56

I finally got to stop for lunch - just as 17 or so got up off their mats outside and the class finished! Looks good though so hopefully next week will manage it.

Paddling pool sounds great!

Hairy chins and your own special tweezers - I can relate....☺️😂

pussycatinboots · 20/05/2020 13:59

70 I'll stick with fishy fingers Grin I appreciate that some of them are very colourful, but they're still slimy...
Wreck well done on the dot. I love fishcakes from the chippy...and following your advice, the cats have had a tin of tuna for lunch - it's so peaceful here while they sleep it off Grin
Firefly happy to pop over and dig up your patio to make room for your DH...just say the word Grin
Mrs you missed a trick really with the windows...you should have said "I'll fetch you a bucket and cloth..."
Fluffy you're so very very welcome to my portion 🐟🐠🐟🐠🐟
Biddy YES...it's the blinkin bones! That is what put me of as a kid! Thank you - I'd long forgotten why I hated it so much Grin
Crazy Prawns are ok in mayo on nutty bread. I love a paddle. I can't swim (even though somewhere I have a 10m and a 25m badge from school), I'm happy to get knee deep on a sandy beach. If ever you venture "up north (wales)" Dinas Dinlle (just south of Caernarfon) has miles of sand when the tide is out.
DH has been asleep outside (post lunch/vino) and the conservatory door blew into his chair and woke him up.
Oh dear Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/05/2020 14:03

A 15x Magnification Mirror and a pair of Pointed End Tweezerman Tweezers is my friend and nemesis in equal measure Xmas Grin

Mrsmadevans · 20/05/2020 19:55

Fluffy she would never manage it ! Anyway her friend Tony has just rang me from the hospital accident and emergency department. He fell off the first rung of the ladder onto his bottom and hurt his back, now he's alright but I had great delight in ringing my mother up and rubbing it in about him falling off the first rung of the step ladder 🤪😂
You're right I should let her get on with it I can't and I should. Your Coo is absolutely gorgeous I love it😍
Boot I love fish fingers a fish finger sandwich should be worthy of the Michelin star. I know you're right about my mum I should stop doing too much and today you'll be glad to know we did do a shorter visit we only did an hour. Happy birthday to D.h. and I hope you have a lovely day together 🎉🎂🎊🌞💑
Wreck I love fish cakes especially when the outer breadcrumbs are gone very crispy yummy😋
Fire I'm not keen on Oreos either but your magnums your almond magnums 😋😋😋
70 I agree with you if she wants to clean the windows and let it go on with it but of course now she knows Tony has had a narrow escape I think it's totally put her off anyway now she's just rang to say that Bob has got the windolene out and has done the great patio windows in this heat the poor bugger 😂🤪
oh my god that's amazing Wreck well done well done I'm so pleased you got it excellent as 20 quid off !
Fluffy it's beautiful weather here as well it's got up to 26 degrees centigrade I've dried three loads of washing on the line and the washing was drying in about an hour and I'm not joking😀
Biddy I don't like shellfish it doesn't agree with me I got a feeling I might be a little bit allergic hope you manage to get out and have a stretch 🌞
Crazy I like the sound of your shish kebabs they sounds lovely, much nicer than the crappy meats! Isn't the weather's fantastic hope you had a great day 🤗
Fire that's a beautiful picture of Darling son ahhh bless him ❤️
Boddy That was very bad luck nevermind next time you will have to get out there with the rest of them 😉
Boot Bobs cats both had tins of tuna today and they absolutely loved it. I'm laughing my head off when you said to give her the bucket and cloth 😂
Hope DH has had a lovely day🎉🎂🎊🌞🤗
70 I don't need a 15 x magnification mirror I can see them don't you worry they are like tusks! 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 20/05/2020 20:09

Firefly, my whisker situation went bonkers post-kids. I'd only had one on my neck until then.

I love massive fresh prawns like the ones you get in Oz. They're amazing. I won't eat mussels or snotty whelks etc!

I don't like fish bones either. But I can cope with them now. I really love fish. It pains me that DH isn't a fan.

Biddy, boo re the yoga. Next time! 🧘‍♀️

We've just been to the allotment after dinner tonight. I put all of my sweetcorn in the ground and 2 squash. I have 9 more squash now. I won't need all of them! The amount of mares tail I dug out was bonkers. Bloody stuff.

The kids put some seeds in their raised beds too. DD found some ancient spinach seeds in the shed so she put those in. We shall see what happens!

I think I'll need to spend 3 of my 5 days off at the plot as I have loads of weeding to do. It's never ending!

Mrs He's had a rather nice day. Bacon butty to start, Curry for lunch🥵 and a cheese and tomato bap for tea.
He's also replaced the sealant around the shower and watered drowned the garden. Grin
Shorter visits are the way forward. You can keep busy and don't have to listen to her complaints 🤐🥱😠🤯😤

WreckTangled · 20/05/2020 20:26

Had a bit of a run in with my new manager today (she was my new manager from March, not the one at the place I've been redeployed to). Really don't like her at all and it's made me feel really shit especially as my old manager was so lovely.

Mrsmadevans · 20/05/2020 20:41

Wreck new boss needs a good talking to the old sow, l hope you are feeling ok now love Flowers
Boot you are dead right, shorter visits and keep busy while there , YES!
Glad Dh had a good birthday Smile
Fluffy you will be in your element next week Grin

Mrsmadevans · 20/05/2020 21:17

Sir Keir had BJ on the benches with his wise, calm, reasonable questioning today! There is something very nice about him Grin

l see Superdrug are selling Covid antibody tests
www.itv.com/news/2020-05-20/test-to-show-if-you-have-had-coronavirus-now-on-sale-at-superdrug/

Mrsmadevans · 20/05/2020 21:18

Sewing Bee on yay! Smile l like Patrick too Grin

NerosFiddle · 20/05/2020 21:41

Evening all.

I thought I had posted this morning but it didn't. Happened yesterday on the Christmas bargain thread.

Mrs I was going to buy the covid antibody test today but changed my mind. Dh has said in a few weeks they'll be under a tenner.

pussycatinboots · 21/05/2020 07:17

We've just had some rain 🌧☔ I bet fluffy is jealous It smells lovely outside Grin
Wreck stay professional, but keep your guard up with her.
Nero I'd be concerned about the accuracy of a test sold by a chemist for profit How accurate are some pregnancy tests? as an example (I've no clue as have never had to POAS). I'd wait until antibody testing was available via the NHS.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/05/2020 07:18

Morning!

Neros, I find the 'post' button is really temperamental on the mobile site. Then you have to watch it as it takes an age to bloody do what's it's asked!

It's a cloudy start, but I've not looked out of the window yet to assess properly. Ah...the ground is a tiny bit damp but it hasn't amounted to much. Again!

Definitely wait til the tests are cheaper, Neros.

Wreck, nothing worse than a nightmare boss. Thankfully my immediate boss is great; we have a similar outlook on stuff.

Mrs, don't call him Sir, he doesn't use the title. He's just the very lovely Keir! 😍

Lovely morning here 😎

Countdown to Christmas 2020 - Lockdown: Peaked! (Thread 5)
pussycatinboots · 21/05/2020 08:10

We had a lovely sunrise at about 4.45, then it clouded over. Feels a lot cooler so far. All that lovely rain has evaporated already. DH will (over) water again later 🤦🏻‍♀️
Going to nip to Morrisons for all the stuff I forgot on Tues (I don't want to go out over the BH weekend & fridays are always busier)🛒

BiddyPop · 21/05/2020 08:29

What a lovely lane Wreck.

It's sunny here still but due cloud and rain later (much needed rain!).

I also need to sow more peas and radishes, and plant out my French beans. But spurts of growth happening, and we are eating salad leaves and radishes from the garden, yum. And doorbell just rang, Thursday bakery delivery just arrived so nice bread for breakfast, more yay!
