Morning. Welcome to our new thread.

We maybe have rain today. I really hope we do! I have no ides when we last had it.

I'm baking with the kids today plus potting some plants on. Exciting. No idea where they'll go, mind you!

Only 2 days left of furlough. Yaaay for the financial side and booooo otherwise! 😂

Crazy I've bought herb plants from Tesco and Sains veg aisle before now - the "growing/live" ones iyswim - then re-potted to a bigger pot so they grow on a bit and last longer.
Woolly I've never had an oreo ShockBlush am I missing out?

WreckTangled · 19/05/2020 15:57

Never had an Oreo ShockShock

pussycatinboots · 19/05/2020 16:05

Ooh, there's an echo in here...
Grin

Yep. never had one - is it like a bourbon?

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/05/2020 16:06

Not really Boots. They're like the cookies in cookie and cream ice cream. I'd rather have a chocolate digestive personally but DS loves them.

pussycatinboots · 19/05/2020 16:08

Woolly at the risk of upsetting Wreck I've not had Cookie and Cream Icecream either Grin

I've had a very sheltered life

I take it they're very sweet then?

WreckTangled · 19/05/2020 16:11

Don't worry I don't like ice cream Grin I dint think they're very sweet... similar to a bourbon but the cookie bit is richer. Just buy some Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/05/2020 16:12

They're just a bit disappointing 🤷🏻‍♀️ in my opinion. Lovely in ice cream but the biscuit part is very dry and very cocoa-ey. The cream middle is nice but the overall taste is a bit dry. Doesn't stop me scoffing a couple of they are the only thing left 🐖

pussycatinboots · 19/05/2020 16:59

You've not sold me on them, tbh. I'll tick to raspberry magnums.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/05/2020 17:15

I've never had an Oreo either. Or a Pot Noodle. Or a kebab. 😱

I'm not sure I'll be trying anything other than orange Jaffa Cakes either (the clue is in the name: ORANGE)!

And I say Wilko for pots too. Way cheaper than everywhere else.

Boots, check out Deliveroo and Uber Eats; your local chippies are likely delivering.

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 19/05/2020 17:25

I've had Pot Noodles much to DH disgust but not a kebab.
I know the Chinese is open/delivering (mostly to next door), but the chips from there are terrible. I'm sure they buy frozen oven chips and fry them 🤢

WreckTangled · 19/05/2020 17:55

I've had all of those things Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 19/05/2020 17:56

The chippy near us reopened a few weeks' ago for pre-orders only (by phone) or via Deliveroo etc. Another one which is a little chain has their own app and has teamed up with a local taxi company to deliver. Then the one in town which is lovely, but dear, has also reopened, but I'm not sure if its logistics.

I bet you must have one open near you judging by our hit rate for chippy - not Chinese - chips!

Also M&S Jaffa cakes are my favourite. They're really thin and crisp. Jaffa cakes should be kept in the fridge (but I know I'm alone in that thinking!)

NoWordForFluffy · 19/05/2020 17:58

Ooh, good call. I get the dark chocolate M&S ones for the kids sometimes when they're on offer.

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/05/2020 18:23

I've never eaten a PotNoodle either

Jaffa Cakes should only be Orange
I really boak at lime/chocolate so the Chocolate&Slime Jaffa Cakes that are around at Hallowe'en get a bodyswerve .

I had a guinea-pig which I called Oreo ( I hadn't thought of a name for a white piggie .) She was a Himalayan ( ivory with chocolate 'points' -feet, nose, ears) so Oreo fitted .
When she got porkier (as they do) she was Oreo-Double-Stuffed Xmas Grin

CrazyBaubles · 19/05/2020 19:21

I've eaten all of these things too Wreck. I'm a fan of Oreos, m&s Jaffa cakes and kebabs. Not so much when it comes to pot noodles but they were my snack of choice when I was drunk when I lived at home actually it was cheese on toast but after setting the grill on fire twice I was banned from making it 😂

I love random pet names Woolly. DH has had 2 class pets, Nugget (gerbil) and Zoot (hamster) - both names by the class.
Have also known a Sir Ozzy, Major Midget (😱), Tinker the Tanker, Gus (after the fat mouse in Cinderella) and my personal favourite - Dave the Bastard Cat 😂

I've just eaten fish. I don't eat fish but DH is on a mission to get me to like it so I've said I will try his recipes but I'm not convinced at all. We had cod fillet with rolled porridge oats as a crust - nothing wrong with it really but the texture made me 🤢

Mrsmadevans · 19/05/2020 20:01

Evening everyone Grin
Been busy today , went to Wilkinsons this morning bought a new aerial for Bob's telly for Mum to watch in the dining room which is now turned into her bedroom Grin then we spent hours getting the telly tuned in and moving the aerial , up a bit, down a bit Grin Dh wanted more wild bird seed he likes Wilkinsons for our birds £7 for 12.75 kgs not the cheapest but Dh says there is less wastage , less chaff Grin so l bought him 3 bags of that it should keep him happy for a bit. We were able to collect the stuff from the back of the shop into the car so there was minimal lifting thankfully . Wilkinsons have a one in, one out, man on the door , cleaned trolley so it seems very civilised there Smile
Got the telly going after an age and came home had a bit of a sit in the garden, then in because it got too hot Hmm no pleasing us is there.
Mum was a cow again today so l spent most of the morning putting curtain hooks in Bob's curtains and rescuing them from dragging on the floor/doing the telly with Dh , 'to me, to you' Grin.
My Mother actually said to me 'leave the step ladder out l am going to clean the downstairs windows inside and out' . I looked her straight in the face and said 'l am not cleaning them Mum'. 'She became very nasty and said 'l am not asking you to do them' . I knew that she thought if she mentioned her doing them, then she thought my Dh and I would do them. There was no way l was going to do them. My Mum has guilt tripped me into doing so much for her and my family and other ppl l am not going to do it anymore. She can really do one. I have had enough my whole family are a pile of shit.
Anyway thank you for listening to me ranting Grin what have you all been doing today?

Thank you Wreck and Fire yes it's not good is it but there you are it is what it is that is my Mum all over Hmm 🤪 Wreck great idea to take darling daughter to McDonald's for her birthday she'll love it 😍
Crazy Wilkinson's was fantastic today I don't know if you want to pop in there, they got one in Pontypool I was very impressed with the way they did everything it was very careful very well thought out. They have loads of pots in the ALL sizes and l'm sure you'll find what you want and very reasonable prices, seems daft not to take advantage of being right by there with going the pharmacy as well love, good luck Smile
Boot glad you're ok m'dear it's got to be the Peri Men , it's vile, my BF is on it now she has been bleeding for 3 weeks bless her Shock not easy for you Flowers
Have not seen any Pineapple Jaffa cakes
Woolly I'd rather have a chocolate digestive too I don't like them either but I do like the cookies in the cookie and cream ice cream Grin
Boot very wise stick to the raspberry magnums love Grin
Crazy I've never had a kebab either 🤮 it's the thought of the terrible meat being stuck on the wheel with the dust and the insects and ppl coughing 🤮😂
70 & Fluffy I do agree Jaffas should only be Orange I have tried the others but they're not the same we actually like Aldi's Jaffa cakes the ones in the white packet that are very very cheap 😂
Oh God Crazy I don't like the sound of that either I mean it's not cod in batter is it 😂 poor DH Grin

NerosFiddle · 19/05/2020 21:54

Mrs why would happen if you went on strike for a week? Make everyone else step up to the plate.

I don't think I've ever had a magnum. But I'm not one for ice cream but I do like raspberry.

I bought veet facial waxing strips on amazon to try and contain my growing beard. They seem to only do one of two things depending on the strip that you use. Either just leave blue wax on her face or take three layers of skin off.

Mrsmadevans · 19/05/2020 22:17

Nero if l went on strike no one would step up to the plate, poor old Bob would have to look after my Mum and she treats him like shit too, she was a cow to him this morning . She said 'you can't come and watch my telly in here now Bob this is mine'. I said to Bob you come in here whenever you want to Bob it's your telly & your home. Ahh love him he is such a sweetheart. He has taken on an old sow in my Mother l can tell you Hmm
Those Veet strips sound like lethal weapons of mass destruction Nero Grin TMI perhaps but will let you in on a secret Grin l shave with a sensitive Bic disposible razer every morning otherwise l would have a beard , not got a mousetashe though there is a God . l did a little research into the merits of shaving the hair off and it seems to be fine, have been doing it daily for about 20 years so it must be ok . I don't recommend letting the rest of the family see you doing it though , they do take the P comment on it Grin

Mrsmadevans · 19/05/2020 22:40

lt's absolutely ridiculous my Mum suggesting using the step ladder and cleaning the windows she can barely stagger to the loo Hmm

NoWordForFluffy · 19/05/2020 23:24

If she manages it she can come and do mine, Mrs!

I really wouldn't bother helping her anymore. She treats you like it because you let her, so just walk away. Let her stew in her own juices. You need to somehow stop the FOG (I know you've read the Stately Homes threads to know what I mean).

I pluck my few increasing monthly random hairs on my face and neck. I don't need anymore than that. For now give it time!

Crazy, I do like fish. DH isn't so keen. But cod isn't a fishy fish at least!

I've been busy with the coo. It's probably 3/5 done now, maybe. I think I've done more than is left to do, anyway!

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 20/05/2020 06:29

Crazy I'm with you. I don't like fish. I like fish fingers Grin but even though I do salmon occasionally I always pick a bit off to look willing and then load the rest on DH plate 🤣 DH keeps asking about trout - I've basically said "There's the kitchen..." and pointed. No chance. It's still got eyes fgs 😱😱
Mrs you know Fluffy is right. Stop doing so much - shorter visits to do the basics. At least you didn't fall for it this time, that must have really pissed her off.
Nero They sound lethal Shock I'll stick to tweezers.
Fluffy your coo is coming on well.
It's DH birthday today, so he's chosen curry for lunch on the hottest day of the year 🥵🥵

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/05/2020 07:43

I don't eat fish ( by choice . I'm vegetarian)
I did like tinned pink salmon (or red if someone wanted to treat me ) about once a year . My great aunt used to buy me a tin for Christmas Xmas Grin I know weird present but much appreciated . ( I became vegetarian at 14 )

I do love Wet Fish Counters , I could stare at them for hours . The less prepped the fish are the better . There was one in the Boulogne hypermarket that was amazing ( blood on the floor , it was raw ) .
DD kept dragging me away "Mum you're vegetarian FFS , step away"
