Morning. Welcome to our new thread.

We maybe have rain today. I really hope we do! I have no ides when we last had it.

I'm baking with the kids today plus potting some plants on. Exciting. No idea where they'll go, mind you!

Only 2 days left of furlough. Yaaay for the financial side and booooo otherwise! 😂

Afternoon all.

We had some bad news yesterday. Dh's grandad died. He was 98 and he had said he didn't want to see another birthday. The funeral is tomorrow but it's limited to 10 people so dh won't be able to go. I think dh will go up to their wee village though to line the street. It's 2 hours away so I don't think me and dc will be able to.

CrazyBaubles · 18/05/2020 15:31

We could walk to the park from here but probably wouldn't walk around and then back, it would just be to have a slow wander because it's so far away.
I shouldn't moan. The track we walk is beautiful, it's just very 'samey' - pre lockdown we tried to take ddog to different places for walks on the weekend (we pretend it's variety for him but it's not)!

MrsMad I hope you're ok today. It does seem the lockdown has been getting to all of us lately hasn't it?

I'm so sorry for your loss Neros. I think your DH travelling to line the street is a very nice tribute 💐

I am going to move in a minute. I've done my work and came upstairs to paint my nails while DH was on a work call. I've gotten comfy on the bed while my nails were drying and now really want a nap. I'm blaming the warm weather and ddog who's followed and is snoring beside me.

Mrsmadevans · 18/05/2020 15:57

Nero I'm so sorry for your loss my dear, your poor Dh even though his grandad was 98 it's still a shock, that is a lovely tribute to his grandad lining the street Flowers
Crazy am much better today thank you lovely , your dog has the right idea Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/05/2020 17:51

Ah Sad NeroDH

I know a lot of people don't like the phrase "a good innings" but when my DGran died she was 95 (this was years ago) and it was very fitting for her

A Socially Distance Street Lining sounds quite a tribute .

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/05/2020 18:52

I am so sorry for your loss Nero and NeroDH Flowers It sounds as though he was ready for a rest after a very long life but I know that doesn't stop it from hurting!

WreckTangled · 18/05/2020 19:21

Ah Nero Thanks saying goodbye must be very difficult in the current climate.

Today was ok. The dc made stick journeys on their walk at school. Ds apparently had a full school lunch, including pudding, as well as the (big) packed lunch we sent him with Confused

Just found dd asleep in bed, she's been napping fairly regularly recently, hope she's ok.

The weather is looking brilliant as far as the forecast goes. I hope it stays like that! Half term next week so will enjoy it much more if it's sunny.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/05/2020 19:34

I'm sorry for your loss, Neros. I think lining the streets is a lovely idea.

I've been juggling my holiday round at work, cancelling 2 days in July and moving them to next week, so I'm off for 5 days in total, including this weekend. Gives me loads of allotment weeding time!

We've just got back from sorting the kids' raised beds as the earth was delivered today. I did some speed digging / weeding and DH filled the beds with the mud (with a bit of help from the kids).

I sowed some runner beans for them at lunch time and hopefully their carrots will come soon. I also finally got my pea bet up at home!

Wreck, my DS would eat that much if allowed to! Hollow legs.

Crazy, DS wailed through the whole cut, shouting 'Ow!' when the comb went near him (he's being investigated for sensory processing issues). He was sobbing and shaking. It was awful. So I had to do some bloody ridiculous speed cut and couldn't take any care / time at all. So it's rough around the edges with no blending. 🙈 See before and after photos attached.

Mrs, tell poor Bob to do his own bloody ironing. Why on earth do you agree to do such things? Insanity. No ironing is required ever right now. Who is he needing to look uncrumpled for?!

It hasn't rained yet here. 8pm, apparently! I hope so. I want rain!

WreckTangled · 18/05/2020 19:46

Well done on the hair cut fluffy it'll be much cooler for him Grin

Apparently they didn't have morning snack today so he was extra hungry...he didn't eat much at dinner so I guess it's evened out.

TheWoollybacksWife · 18/05/2020 19:54

My condolences to you and your DH Neros Thanks

I like your DS's cut Fluffy. My DS resembles a Gallagher brother from the mid 90's.

MrsMad the one positive I'm taking from lockdown is the reduction in ironing. I will have to iron a dress and a pair of chinos but I'm going to put it off as long as possible.

I HAVE SELF RAISING FLOUR 🎉🎉🎉 so I think I'm going to make a cake at the end of the week. I did a Morrison's click and collect order for the end of the month and was able to add icing sugar. Let's hope it's still in stock when it's time to collect my shopping...

Mrsmadevans · 18/05/2020 20:19

Ohhh Woolly SR flour yay! Grin IN THE BACK OF THE NET!
Fluffy tbh with you my Mum was such a cow today 'you talk so quickly, you used to talk so slowly and kindly , so GENTILE Hmm now you talk so fast, so gruffly'. I said to her ' l have always talked the same way Mum' What new nonsense is this l thought .
l was glad to do the ironing behind her while she was sitting on the bloody sofa so l could make eyes at the crap she was saying to me Hmm l did all Bob's and folded most of my Mother's to pay her back and serve the cow right Grin
Ds hair is superb it must have been so stressful well done! Grin glad you are having some time off next week Flowers

FireflyGirl · 18/05/2020 20:42

Flowers Neros. Such a shame your DH won't be able to go to the funeral.

I'm with Fluffy, MrsM ironing is unnecessary!

Nice haircut, mini-Fluffy. DS looks like Worzel Gummage and his sideburns could give the 70s a run for their money. I'm going to have to sort him out soon!

Yey for your flour, Woolly Grin

Wreck DD might just be adjusting to a change in routine. Is she going to bed/sleep at her usual time? Your DS made me laugh, mine is the same usually. Not so much since lockdown, probably because he isn't as active, but his most-used phrase used to be 'I'm a bit more hungry' Grin

WreckTangled · 18/05/2020 20:45

Fire she's got a similar routine to before as still at school. I guess it's taking its toll on all of us though.

Mrs sorry you're having an extra shit time at the moment you've got the patience of a saint!

WreckTangled · 19/05/2020 06:34

Morning. It's cloudy here but it's meant to clear and be very warm. Weather still looking great found out McDonald's are probably going to be opening all restaurants for take away from June so thinking of getting one for dds birthday. She would prefer Nando's but I think she will be happy with that. Unless Nando's is open by then but I haven't heard anything.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/05/2020 07:47

Morning!

Boots, how are you doing now? It must have been concerning re your DH before he had his weird episode. I hope you've got past your mood blip now.

Wreck, we're set to be warmer, but not as warm as you. We had some rain overnight, but I'm not sure how much. I'll have to check the butts when I'm dressed!

Interesting re McDonalds. We'd normally go to Pizza Express for birthdays, but they'd probably go for McDonalds. I'll see what they'd like.

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 19/05/2020 07:48

It's been raining overnight here. I need to check the garden to see if it's been a decent amount. Forecast 20 degrees today, and then up to 26(!!) tomorrow, but not particularly sunny.

As long as it's warm, I'll get the paddling pool out for DS - he won't care if it's cloudy, and it means I don't have to be as militant with his hat.

Wreck a lot of people are saying how they're sleeping more, so fingers crossed it's just that and not anything serious

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 19/05/2020 07:59

19 here today and not very sunny but meant to be 24 and sunny tomorrow so paddling pool will definitely be coming out! No rain here sadly :(

NerosFiddle · 19/05/2020 09:13

Morning.

Thanks for all your comments re dh's grandad. He had buried 2 children and I think he'd just had enough. It's what he wanted and I think that's how everyone is looking at it.

Anyway, it's really clammy here. It's been raining all night but it's 16 degrees and to get warmer.

You could get a pizza express pizza in the supermarkets but it's not the same.

CrazyBaubles · 19/05/2020 10:56

Fluffy could hairdressing be a back up career for you?
Sounds stressful if your DS was upset having his hair cut though.

MrsMad I second the suggestion of telling your mum and Bob to either do their own ironing or stay crinkled (I don't iron, it's the worst job)!

Wreck McDonald's opened in Swansea and the queue was insane!
Our favourite burger restaurant has opened in Hereford but we can't go as can't travel 😩 so we've settled on having a chippy tea one day this week instead because they deliver.

No rain here. It's sunny and warm so I have washing out. I've just spoken to work and think I'll have a work laptop etc within the next 2-3 weeks so I can WFH. Not sure if I'm happy or sad about it tbh. I'm bored but don't miss work at all.

Can anyone advise me on the best place to order some plant pots from? I just want a larger grow pot for my cactus so I can move him to the next size up and maybe some half decent sized ones so I can attempt some herbs? I can find either cheap ones with expensive postage or expensive ones with free postage 🙄

WreckTangled · 19/05/2020 11:27

I can imagine crazy! Hoping it'll open a couple of weeks before her birthday so it's not quite so manic.

pussycatinboots · 19/05/2020 13:16

Afternoon.
fluffy don't give up the day job Wink it's not worth the stress✂✂
I'm feeling a bit better - I think it's really bad Peri PMT (fuck knows when/if anything will ever happen again - went 14ish wks last summer, currently on 6) team that with lockdown fatigue and I have not been a nice person to be around tbh.
Crazy I'd love a chippy tea, I think ours are closed still. KFC were having a delivery this morning (they're next door to Morrisons and I clocked the lorry unloading) Have you got a B&M, Wilko or B&Q or a biggish supermarket nearby? They've all got bedding plants n pots etc in now, so you might be able to find something suitable?
Mrs your mum's pushing her luck and was fortunate not to get the iron chucked at her. Grin
Woolly lucky bugger - there's no flour in Cheshire!
I have got crisps, chocolate and alcohol today amongst other boring/random stuff I consider that to be a successful shopping trip Grin

Did you know you can get pineapple flavour jaffa cakes??Shock

NerosFiddle · 19/05/2020 13:48

Boots you can get lemon and lime Jaffa cakes too.
Ds got a giant cracker filled with Jaffa cakes for Christmas.

pussycatinboots · 19/05/2020 14:13

Can you? they sound nicer tbh.
I've had raspberry before (although they were an own-brand not proper ones) not sure about pineapple...do you think I should buy a box under the guise of "research"? Grin
I got DH a yard of Jaffa cakes one year, and cadburys fingers another. They were a bugger to wrap 🤦‍♀️

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/05/2020 14:48

I got DS a yard of Oreo cookies last year. I don't know why I bothered to wrap them. He'd inhaled them by the day after Boxing Day.

CrazyBaubles · 19/05/2020 15:10

puss B&Q are doing click and collect only I think and I'm not sure if I can swing a trip to wilko as it's not essential and wales are still in full lockdown. I may try it tomorrow though as I need to go to the pharmacy and wilko is just up the road from it.

Ideally I'd like a few little pots and some mint, rosemary and sage to get me going.

Also, FWIW, I wasn't a fan of the pineapple Jaffa cakes but the raspberry M&S ones went down well here!

Woolly a yard of Oreos would disappear quickly in this house!

I have scrubbed my bathroom floor today, by hand, chiselling away at some paint Id splattered when I painted it a week or so ago. It needs another coat now though - that may have to be a job for this week I bloody hate painting
