Morning. Welcome to our new thread.

We maybe have rain today. I really hope we do! I have no ides when we last had it.

I'm baking with the kids today plus potting some plants on. Exciting. No idea where they'll go, mind you!

Only 2 days left of furlough. Yaaay for the financial side and booooo otherwise! 😂

Fluffy I use Strictly Professional brown tint. The box says it's for eyelashes but it can be used on brows. It's the one the salon I used to go to used before I caught on and saved myself the money (mum, sis and me all use the same so we take in turns to buy the stuff, keep it at mums and do ours at the same time every few weeks. Prevents waste, saves £ and makes sure I don't forget to do them (as I have since lockdown started)!

Wreck that is a lot of presents to buy so close together!

70 our big birthday month is August - we have DH, me, FIL, MILs husband, my aunt, cousin, cousins dd, my best mate then mates dd. It's a bloody nightmare!

Neros well done on your quiz win 🏆
I never buy pjs because I get at least 3 sets for Christmas and I hate throwing them away so have loads Blush

I've bought all the make up I wanted and directed DH in the garden. He's struggling massively with lack of motivation. He thrives with a routine and a bit of pressure and as much as he is still working, having no real structure to the day expect the hour or so he has to be online means he's not himself. I may appoint myself his manager, to keep him on track and myself busy!

I Have a roast on the go (chicken) and am now going to look into audible. I'm a bit rubbish at anything technology wise so I have no idea how it works 🙄
Can anyone recommend any books for me to listen to once I figure it out? Only genre I don't like is crime / horror because they're either terrifying or I guess the ending too early Grin

Mrsmadevans · 17/05/2020 13:46

Feeling a bit 'meh' today it's very wearing and gets to us sometimes this lockdown. Had a day off from Mum & Bob , Dd1 did them instead thank God.
Wreck l paid £23 too like Nero so hold fire before you get it lovely Smile
No birthdays for a while now thank God Hmm 2 little girls the end of July and my Sil in July . I am going to send her flowers so l think l will do that now , get it out of the way.
We are watching Midsomer murders with John Nettles , we much prefer him to the new one Grin
Have a good day everyone .Have everything crossed this won't last for much longer. Sorry to be so negative, just blurgh today .

WreckTangled · 17/05/2020 14:16

Well I have to get it in the next three weeks so can only hope it goes back down to £45. It's the one with a clock on so is more than the standard one anyway.

Mrsmadevans · 17/05/2020 14:25

Ahh right didn't realise twas the one with the clock, it will be more than what me n Nero paid then Wreck Flowers
Crazy bloody hell love that is a lot of spends in August Flowers even if you don't buy them anything and make something it will cost you megabucks for the equipment for 9 birthdays !
Dh is freaking out over the rockets launching Grin he was supposed to go over and watch them from the Kennedy Space centre this year we had plans for him to go with the Dds not me l don't like flying/have to look after Mother Shock but the virus put paid to it poor thing. He is enjoying watching it on the telly though bless him Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 17/05/2020 16:08

We're lucky in that we don't have a huge amount of birthdays bunched up. We're actually spread relatively evenly through the year (and don't buy for silly numbers of people either!).

Crazy, I'll look that up, thank you. The white hairs make me look like a badger. Or similar! 🦡😂

I guessed it was the clock one, Wreck. It's a bit too dear really though. Have you set up a camelcamelcamel alert for Amazon? Everyone price matches, so if it goes down on there everyone will follow.

I've been mostly weeding today. I weeded round my parsnip seedlings and put more seeds in where they hadn't germinated (loads hadn't; hopefully the warmer soil now will help). I removed a load of thistles from the wild area as they were strangling my trees and lavender. I have more to do, but needed to move on to something else. I found some of my wildflower seeds had germinated and were in bloom though (attached). There seem to be quite a few (and were the reason I couldn't weed before, as I didn't want to get the wildflowers accidentally). I'm quite pleased. I put more slate down after building retaining 'walls' with blocks / wood / bricks so it's all much deeper and better quality as a path. Then I started to weed the raspberry cage. I got halfway through before I needed to come home. All in all, quite a productive day.

Mrs, sorry you're feeling meh. Difficult to keep on keeping on sometimes, isn't it?

My hairdressing kit arrived. DS is having a cut later on (he's refused clippers!). Lucky me having to do it. 😂😂

Fluffy they've shut down Shock well amazon have asked them to stop during the pandemic Hmm I'm happy to pay the £45 it was I'm just annoyed I didn't get it at the time. I'll check every day and hopefully it will go down again.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/05/2020 16:16

What?!?! That's bonkers (so people can't check if they're being robbed, more like)!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 17/05/2020 16:48

Yes exactly!

Mrsmadevans · 17/05/2020 18:08

Bloody hell that is awful l didn't realise Amazon had done that! Shock
Wreck l hope it goes down in price for you love, l put stuff in my basket then put it on my saved for later , if it goes down in price it tells me then but sometimes it goes up Hmm
Thank you Fluffy it is what it is , we must all be feeling like this on times, l think . Smile Fabulous bit of kit for the Dh hair l must say! Grin
Well done on the weeding , the wild flowers are lovely too Smile

WreckTangled · 17/05/2020 18:18

Mrs I've been feeling meh today too. It's understandable really. I can imagine it's worse for you, at least I get to see my work colleagues etc and gossip all day Grin

My lovely friend has offered to make dd a cake and she's great at cakes so I'm so pleased.

Fluffy good luck with the haircut! We did ds with clippers I can't wait for it to grow out again even though we only did a grade 6.

Mrsmadevans · 17/05/2020 18:54

Ahhh Wreck thank you lovely, l can imagine we are all under the cosh at the moment Flowers
That is smashing of your DF to do a cake l bet it wil be gorgeous ! Smile

pussycatinboots · 17/05/2020 21:23

I've had a bit of a wobble over the weekend.
I'm properly sick of lockdown now. I really want to go out.
I won't because of DH (and plain fear)
Every day now has a touch of "Groundhog" about it.

I started to type my next sentence and it turned into this Blush
If I could turn back time
If I could find a way...

pussycatinboots · 17/05/2020 21:25

It was Cher btw Grin

Mrsmadevans · 17/05/2020 21:44

I knew it were Cher Boot but thing is l watched Adam Lambert sing Chers , 'do you believe' In the Oscars last year and he was sensational Smile. As for this groundhog thing it's so flaming monotonous every day the same , no wonder l am scoffing and scoffing Hmm no wonder you are cheesed off . Also Fancy you mentioning her and me mentioning her! There must be something supernatural going on Boot Grin judging by my incoherant speech
I really think l am losing it Grin jump on board Boot Grin join the nutjob club!

pussycatinboots · 17/05/2020 21:52

I believe the life raft is over there >>>>
Unfortunately I can only doggy paddle to get to it...and it keeps going further away.
Mrs please bring water wings and soup Grin I'll provide 🍦🍦

pussycatinboots · 17/05/2020 21:55

and Gin Wine 🍻🍺

FireflyGirl · 17/05/2020 22:02

Wreck you could set up an alert on Hot UK Deals - if it drops in price it'll probably be mentioned on there.

Crazy if you haven't read the Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch, I highly recommend getting the audiobooks. They're touted as Harry Potter for grownups, but don't let that put you off (if it would), they're really good. The basic premise is that magic exists secretly in the real world, including magical beings such as the goddesses of the rivers of London, but not many people know, and there's a branch of the Met who deal with it, and the books are about a policeman who stumbles into that world. He's done about half a dozen full length books, so it's a decent series, but they're all really good stories, probably my most-recommended books.

And on Audible, if you don't like a book, you can send it back and swap it for another.

boots I know the feeling. DH and DS are quite happy never leaving the house but I am sick of seeing the same four badly decorated walls!!

Flowers MrsM, hopefully you'll be able to get out for a wander like you used to soon.

Fluffy I'll keep my fingers crossed the lockdown is setting a new precedent for wake-up time in your house! I haven't been able to get to the allotment today, I've had to send DH instead. I suffered with bad SPD with DS, and after a couple of days of relativity light weeding and digging at the end of last week, it seems to be coming back, so I'm taking it easy until I can speak with a physio!

Mrsmadevans · 17/05/2020 22:22

Boot I am wearing my rubber ring l will be able to save you Grin
Fire thank you l hope so too Smile
SPD is horrible , so painful, you just cannot get comfy it's awful, l hope you don't have it again Flowers

WreckTangled · 18/05/2020 06:52

Morning another lovely day.

I don't mind checking amazon boots it only take two seconds.

Last week before half term hoping we will be reinstated after that.

Dd is being foul this morning.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/05/2020 07:22

Will try and catch up later! Went for a lovely long walk yesterday. The roads looked like a normal amount of cars to be honest and lots of groups out that didn't look like they lived together. I think fatigue has well and truly set in. The figures are all looking more positive at the moment, I really really hope we are through the worst.

Supposed to be lovely weather this week, will get the paddling pool out from tomorrow and will also plant my tomatoes that aren't going under cover out as the night temperatures are predicted to be consistently 10 degrees or more.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/05/2020 07:40

It's a bit gloomy here, but dry. We're forecast rain overnight / tomorrow, thank goodness. It's been almost 2 months since we had any decent rain here.

Amazon sometimes reduce prices for about 2 hours. Which is why camelcamelcamel was so good.

I put my pot tomatoes out the other night, Most. They've got flowers on! I need to get my other ones out too. Some here and some at the allotment.

I'm considering booking Weds off to plant things out, but might just take 2 days next week instead, during the half term break.

When are you attempting the haircut for DS Fluffy?

puss the groundhog feeling is here too. Not seeing people is really starting to get to me now so you're not alone.

Thank you for the recommendation Firefly. I'm a HP fan so will give the books a go (as long as I get on with audiobooks - I generally don't enjoy listening to people
Speak on the radio / podcasts so I'm hoping this is different).
I've added the Michelle Obama book as my first one to try.

Where did you walk most? We've been doing the same track for weeks and as nice as it
Is, it's monotonous now so we may venture to Pontypool Park in the next few days.

Weather is coming out sunny now after a cloudy start. I've got a little bit of work to do but have nothing more than that planned for today.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/05/2020 10:20

Just the river in Newport Crazy as we still aren't allowed to drive for exercise 😭 Desperate to be able to go somewhere nice to walk, it's all pavements round us.
