Morning. Welcome to our new thread.

We maybe have rain today. I really hope we do! I have no ides when we last had it.

I'm baking with the kids today plus potting some plants on. Exciting. No idea where they'll go, mind you!

Only 2 days left of furlough. Yaaay for the financial side and booooo otherwise! 😂

I need to do housework today too. Dh has gone to work but he overslept so hasn't emptied the dw like he usually does which is annoying Grin

I let the dc have a slice of banana cake for breakfast that I made yesterday. Asda delivery coming later should get the email soon about that they've got...wish me luck!

Mrsmadevans · 16/05/2020 08:35

Morning everyone 😀
Have a slot for a Tesco delivery tomorrow. Am doing shopping for 3 households so l Will have to give it a good go over later. Off to Mum & Bobs in a bit. All this school talk is very worrying and confusing to me and I don't even have any little ones. I can imagine if l had DC then l wouldn't send them but of course Wales isn't going to open schools so it wouldn't affect us here.
I did a post last night but it didn't post 🙄 never mind . It was basically full of admiration for Woolly and her Freddie 😂😀😀🤗
Well done on the gardening and the shoping everyone 😀👍
I have done a little shopping in the shops as you know but on reflection we are going to try to just go to our local Tesco . The other ppl just aren't obeying social distancing and it's really stressful for me . I find myself holding the trolley at full arm's length and then they come up alongside you and behind you. l can't understand ppl . 🙄🥺🤔🤪

NoWordForFluffy · 16/05/2020 08:41

Oh yes, I forgot to comment on Freddie. He's A-MAY-ZING.

NerosFiddle · 16/05/2020 08:47

Morning.

Schools here I'd say will start September at the earliest.

Woolly love the Freddie.

Wreck I still haven't made any banana bread this lockdown. I haven't been able to buy flour.

Fluffy my window cleaner hasn't been in about 10 weeks. The windows are filthy. The neighbours will be talking.

I'm making a roast beef dinner today. Then later it's the family quiz.

CrazyBaubles · 16/05/2020 09:50

After catching up on the thread it appears we all have a DH problem when it comes to plants because my DH is banned from my cactus after trying to drown him on a few occasions!

DH had a meeting yesterday where the headmaster basically started planning for September so I don't think they're expecting schools to be fully open until at least then.

woolly Freddie is ace and very cool. Who are you making it for?

Neros / Fluffy we cleaned our windows for the first time in over a year a few weeks ago 😱 Its DHs job as they're so tall. To be honest I didn't notice how bad they were but now they're clean the difference in light is huge!

No housework here today as we did it all yesterday. DH is going to trim the back garden and I'm going to weed out the front. I'm also hoping I can find a bigger pot for my cactus so I can move him up a size and move my aloe plant into the cactus pot to allow them both to grow. Then I'll be making 2 types of soup and finding a way to kill the time!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/05/2020 10:01

Ahh love the Freddie doll Xmas Grin

Everyone (secretly) loves Freddie Mercury and Queen , especially after Live Aid and the BoRah film . Even my DH was singing along ( he pretends now to like Queen, but he does Xmas Grin )

DH and I went to Costco, massive Socially Distanced queue to get in , took about 20 minutes waiting in car park.
Inside was quiet for Costco. I kept forgetting I didn't have to keep space between myself and my own DH Xmas Blush

Got a Costco pack of looroll and 3kg pasta ( limit one/customer) amongst other things..........but there was no flour at all.

I was going to buy DS a 2-pack of Champion TShirts but the sizes were by height (DS is a tall beanpole , I reckon he'd be a M ) they were £20 for 2. The logo was at the waistband and he's not into logos (unlike DD) .
He does like the CK boxers I got him for Christmas but would never ask for a 'brand' , he'll choose H&M mainly .
(His clothes bill is tiny , DD makes up for that )

NoWordForFluffy · 16/05/2020 10:18

I'm making mincemeat before I clean the kitchen! The apples are cooking in cider and fruit juice / zest before I add the dried fruit. What is it about fruit zest that makes everything smell so Christmassy?!

70, sounds like the queuing was a bit dull!

Crazy, it makes such a difference to light, doesn't it? I did ours at the start of lockdown, so they need doing again now.

Neros, I can't remember when ours came. Probably February, I think. We have them done every 8 weeks or so. Our neighbours are done by the same bloke, at the same time, so no judgment from them! 😂

Mrs, I find those in masks and gloves are the worst for encroaching on space. It's hard to keep distance in some shops as there isn't enough room. A brief interaction shouldn't be enough to pass the virus on, unless an infected person actually coughs or sneezes on you!

Freddie is awesome!

Just back from the allotment, got my sweetcorn planted out :) Everything still growing really well.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/05/2020 11:14

I'm holding off a week on my sweetcorn, even though it's massive! Though it has been hardened off in the unheated greenhouse, so would probably be OK.

It's weird seeing a full plot as I've gone from loads of bare ground to lots of plants in the ground after growing at home!

I've ordered rainbow carrots for the kids to do in their raised beds.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 16/05/2020 11:25

Ooh nice fluffy!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/05/2020 15:15

I bought a box of Cinnamon Roll mixes in Costco ( you get enough to make 4 batches - each batch makes 10 buns).

Fairly time consuming , as they need to prove then 2nd prove like any other roll recipe but I baked 5 , put 5 to freeze .

Usually do the JusRoll ones but they're Swirls , more a pastry .
DD commented that if we did the rolls on Christmas morning we'd need to wake up at 5am Xmas Grin
No- if they work with freezing then baking, that's the way to go.
Though they probably won't have the kits in , so I'll just have to find a recipe (and some flour !)

Mrsmadevans · 16/05/2020 18:59

Fluffy l have awful hay fever and my nose is running and l am sneezing like A diseased Covid ridden victim Hmm , even though l know it isn't one of the symptoms Grin so l wear a mask because it isn't fair on any of the poor bgrs unlucky enough to be in the shop the same time as me Grin, l don't wear gloves because they have hand gel at the door . Tesco are really excellent tbf to them.
Anyone else suffering from this awful hayfever it seems particularly bad this year Hmm

CrazyBaubles · 16/05/2020 20:30

Fluffy I love the smell of zest. To me lemon = summer, lime = cocktails and orange = Christmas.

MrsMad yes, hay fever has hit silly levels this year. I read somewhere that it's related to lack of pollution as a result of the lockdown but no idea how true that is. I do know I've been sneezing and my eyes have been streaming - I look ill when I'm outside with runny nose, dry throat which makes me cough and red eyes 🤧

I feel like I've wasted today. I did the garden, been for a walk and made 2 types of soup (leek & pot for DH, tomato for me) but not done much else.
I feel a bit guilty, everyone seems to be achieving things and I'm losing momentum. Not sure what else there is to do though, my house is done except for painting the bathroom which is next weeks job (when we have the paint) but I know I shouldn't complain. We have it pretty easy here. I think I'm just having a low day, missing my friends and family.

Mrsmadevans · 16/05/2020 20:44

Ahhh Crazy you have not been well and you HAVE done loads. lf anything l feel like that because we traipse to Bob's, see to them and are so bloody drained we don't do anything else when we come home except eat and watch telly go on t'internet Hmm
Yes it must be something to do with it because my hayfever is something else this year it is never this bad ever!

WreckTangled · 16/05/2020 20:54

Crazy that seems like a pretty successful day to me! I think I was really productive (for me)... I cleared out some stuff that was in the kitchen (ie left it in a pile in the middle of the room because it's all dh's work bits which I refuse to tidy and don't want dumped in my kitchen), cleared out two of my kitchen cupboards, folded and put away the dry washing, cleaned the rest of the kitchen and put the food shopping away. That's it but I was busy all day! I did get rid of a fair bit of crap which is a nice feeling and the cupboards look much better now.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/05/2020 00:36

222

Nice neat number there Xmas Grin

I'm off to my kip now , just loaded my DW up with a cleaning tablet to run overnight .
I know , how domesticated am I ?

WreckTangled · 17/05/2020 07:00

Been awake since 4:30. Everyone else is still asleep so I'm just folding some washing, have already had a coffee. Beautiful morning out!

There's loads of c&c at Tesco for the next week so I've cancelled next weeks asda delivery and book a Tesco slot. At least I can get Clubcard points on my extortionate shopping that way.

WreckTangled · 17/05/2020 07:02

Also am annoyed because the echo dot I was looking at for dd has gone from £45 to £60. I'm hoping it'll go back down again in the next few weeks. Just bought her some Adidas leggings online which she will love.

CrazyBaubles · 17/05/2020 08:39

70 great minds think alike - I too did a dishwasher clean last night because I found a product for it I'd clearly bought ages ago and forgot about and it also reminded me to do a washing machine clean so I scrubbed the draw and rubbers before putting it on a hot wash with some soda crystals, biological washing powder and zoflora.
So sad, I love doing that because it makes me feel so domestic 😂

Wreck very annoying about the dot but prices on everything seem to be all over the place at the mo so I'm sure it'll come back down soon.

I've been up since 7:20. I've had a cuppa and been online shopping since then. I need decent make up and some clothes to wear around the house which aren't dresses. Have so far bought an eyeliner with a stamp because I'm rubbish, some colour correcting primer and some powder. Need a highlighter thingy and some eyebrow tint then I'll clothes shop.

When DH gets up we'll be tackling the back garden (was his job yesterday but didn't get done so I'll be directing and he'll be doing the work) and I'll be cooking a roast.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/05/2020 08:55

Morning!

We didn't wake til gone 8, and the kids have only just got up! One thing they've learned during lockdown is how to sleep in (especially if they've had a later bedtime the night before). Hurrah!

It's allotment day for me. Loads to do, mostly weeding!

When is your DD's birthday, Wreck? I bet prices have gone up in anticipation of Father's Day.

Crazy, what eyebrow tint do you use? I'm trying to grow my over-plucked 90's eyebrows a bit, which is going well, except the left one has loads of grey hairs in it. So I need a fix!

Wreck, I'm doing much better with getting either C&C from Tesco or Sainsbury's deliveries (now I've worked out the system with Sainsbury's, it's great!).

We clean our dishwasher and washing machine quite regularly. I say 'we', I mean DH sets them going. He's bought a shit load or soda crystals for it!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 17/05/2020 09:01

It's the 17th June so v close to Father's Day!

NoWordForFluffy · 17/05/2020 09:33

We were hoping DD would come on Father's Day, but it was 16th June the year she was born. On 23rd!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 17/05/2020 09:40

June is a bit mad for us. Mine is 15th, dd and my grandad 17th, Father's Day somewhere (so my dad, step dad, Fil and DH to sort) then fil's birthday a week later 🤯 need to sort something do dh's Father's Day book actually. We have a scrap book type thing that I add photos to and the dc write something in each year.

NerosFiddle · 17/05/2020 10:32

Wreck I paid £22 on Black Friday. I wouldn't be paying anywhere near £60 for it.
Amazon have been awful during this whole thing. Really bumping up their prices.

Fluffy that's a good lie in.

Crazy I've been buying pjs Grin

Won the family quiz again last night! I think it was the last night of it though.

Dc are watching scooby doo while I have a cuppa and flick through my phone.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/05/2020 10:52

There are 4 birthdays within four weeks in my family . ( from late May-late Jume)

DMum, DSiL , DD ( who will be 18) and me .
Only DD is a "Big Birthday" and becuause of Lockdown and being away from her friends , no idea what to plan.
She is helpfully looking for presents to give us some clues (Bless her) Grin
