We maybe have rain today. I really hope we do! I have no ides when we last had it.

I'm baking with the kids today plus potting some plants on. Exciting. No idea where they'll go, mind you!

Only 2 days left of furlough. Yaaay for the financial side and booooo otherwise! 😂

Waiting for Sainsburys delivery. No flour again but fortunately today is the first day the Risca zero waste shop is delivering to Newport and they have flour so have ordered with them and will be here this afternoon :) Will definitely be using them going forward for as much as possible.

Thank you for all your thoughts, I know my grandfather doesn't have long left but I want if at all possible for him to go the way he wants and not in hospital where his wife can't even stay with him due to Covid :(

Lovely and sunny here and the wind has died down so even though it isn't warm it isn't Arctic like yesterday. Will take advantage of the increased exercise rules once Sainsburys have been and take DS for a scooter and still go for a family walk this afternoon :)

CrazyBaubles · 12/05/2020 14:28

Excellent bargain hunting there fluffy

I hope your grandad is able to come home soon most
And thank you for the mention of the zero waste shop. They don't deliver to our Area but we can get a delivery to FILs so will look into doing that then collecting it when we drop of their shopping towards the end of the week.

Weather is warming up here and my hay fever has gone a bit nuts but I've done the general cleaning and am ticking a few bigger jobs off the list today (cleaning top of kitchen cupboards, door frames, doors, picture rail and skirting boards) 💪

Also, I messed up the legs of my crochet doll (they weren't straight so her shoes were at odd angles) so I made new ones. Have removed her arms and head too so now just need to make a new body and sew the pieces together before finally making her some clothes. Hoping to do that this evening.

Mrsmadevans · 12/05/2020 17:13

627 today , it doesn't give me much comfort tbh. That article you shared Fire was absolutely staggering. The makeshift mortuary is just like a tent they have erected outside my local hospital's Acc/Em. I thought it was a mortuary but my Dh told me it was for decontamination Shock.

Mrsmadevans · 12/05/2020 17:48

Risca zero waste shop sounds fantastc Most Smile glad you are thinking positively about your Grandad , hope you enjoyed the lovely weather and your family walk this afternoon Smile
Crazy that is the same for me the pollen is so thick we could see it on our car bonnet in the sunshine. Have had a bit of a thick head, nose & throat , l know it's not Covid but it does still cross our minds Hmm
That is a shame re the dolly but l know it will be gorgeous! Smile
Fluffy great bargains l might have a look at the audio books for DD1 she is 26 Grin

Afternoon all, sounds like you are all pleasantly busy generally.

I hope your DGF gets home soon Most.

I hope DDolly is now happy with straight legs Crazy Grin
I'm just closing up work stuff after not finishing until 9.40 last night (2 Committee meetings for non-work things, after a loooong day of teleconferences for work), so I am going to take it easy tonight and try to drool over fish on the Great British Menu (I missed starters last night).

WreckTangled · 12/05/2020 20:14

Just spent almost £110 on shoes for the dc 😭 I hope they fit I've never ordered their shoes online before without getting them measured first at least.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/05/2020 20:35

Mine aren't wearing shoes right now! 😂

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/05/2020 20:44

I'm fairly sure that I'm going to have to give DS a piggyback from the car to the shoe shop 🤣 he's been living in slipper socks and sliders.

NerosFiddle · 12/05/2020 21:19

I bought the Clark's measuring gauge. I used to buy all their shoes in Clark's but I couldn't hold out to it every few weeks.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/05/2020 21:38

My two go up one size per year each and have for ages. It's most bizarre! I only get shoes in the sale though, never at full price.

Mrsmadevans · 12/05/2020 22:07

Ruddy hell Wreck that is so expensive , they go through them like a dose of salts too if they are anything like mine Smile
Nero great idea to have one of those measurers to hand Smile
Most yay to the flour! Grin
Fluffy standards of dress and shoes and make up and hair and house have all gone by the wayside Grin c'est la vie Grin or in other words wth Grin

WreckTangled · 13/05/2020 06:30

I ended up buying them from next it was really hard to find anything in their size anywhere obviously everyone else is having to do the same thing. They both need trainers and summer sandals. They're both a size 3 too according to the free printout foot measure I got 😂 for school shoes they only have startrite or geox but for trainers ds likes sketchers or anything bright and dd likes brands now... the Nike were only £10 more than the next own brand though.

Although I've just realised they will probably have to be back in school uniform after half term

Mrsmadevans · 13/05/2020 07:57

226 Morning 🌞
Hope Dd & Ds love their footwear Wreck 💐
Am going to pick some bits up for Mum and Bob and our prescriptions from Waitrose LTR . Am not looking forward to it 😬
Have a good day everyone 😀

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 13/05/2020 08:11

I can't believe how expensive it is keeping a child in shoes, their feet just keep growing!!!! We had to get DS' summer sandals without measuring his feet but fortunately our guess worked. Of course sandals are easier to adjust as well in terms of width which makes it easier.

As it is looking likely that our summer holiday is not going to go ahead DH and I are thinking about going away for Christmas instead so feeling quite festive this morning :)

NoWordForFluffy · 13/05/2020 08:17

Morning!

Most, we've said we'll possibly go away for Christmas if our already-rearranged-once holiday to Wales in August can't happen. The same cottage is available, so we shall see!

We need to measure the kids' feet too. For the times when they wear shoes at the moment (rarely!). Though we're rapidly heading into sandal season anyway, so it'll be that or bare feet soon enough!

I wore Christmas clothes the other day. Nobody can see me, so Xmas Grin

Mrsmadevans · 13/05/2020 08:39

Xmas Grin Fluffy Anything goes 😂👍

FireflyGirl · 13/05/2020 09:00

It will be more difficult getting DS back into clothes than shoes in this house! Don't think pyjama days will go down well at school...

Startrite do an app, where you print out a grid and then take photos of their feet on it and it tells you what size they are. You need white socks though, which we don't have!!

NoWordForFluffy · 13/05/2020 09:36

That's clever! Startrite sizes come up half a size bigger than Clark's etc though. Something to take into account if you use the app. I have no idea why!

DH told the kids to get dressed when they got up today as otherwise it's impossible to get them dressed! 😂

I got dc new wellies just before the lockdown. It's really all they have worn since. It's great because they can put them on themselves.

We've also been talking about going away for Christmas. I would love to do center parcs at Christmas but dh is always working Christmas week (sometimes Christmas Day) that it's never worked out. If his promoted job starts back though he'll get Christmas week off.

FireflyGirl · 13/05/2020 10:37

I love wellies for exactly that reason!

£2000 for Christmas week at Center Parcs, Nero's Shock

I've never been, is it just like posh Butlins? Do they do all inclusive cocktails?

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 13/05/2020 10:55

Centre Parcs at Christmas looks amazing but very expensive.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 13/05/2020 11:05

Hi folks, I hope you are all OK. I have been MIA as I have seriously not been in a chatty mood. Talking to loads of people on the phone at work is taking it's toll on me wanting to make much effort in the talking department in any form.

I am going to do some baking this afternoon. My daughter wants some cinnamon swirls and I am contemplating what else I can make.

NerosFiddle · 13/05/2020 11:50

It's so expensive and then if you want to do any of the activities it's extra. But we love it. We went all inclusive to Portugal last summer and didn't enjoy it at all. For Christmas it'll be €1200 and my parents might be coming so that'll bring down the price.
The have a winter wonderland and it's just magical.

Mrsmadevans · 13/05/2020 12:07

Hiya Why don't worry about not wanting to talk we will still be here 🤗
I can imagine it's galling in work for you Love 💐
