Only 2 days left of furlough. Yaaay for the financial side and booooo otherwise! 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 10/05/2020 17:48

Mrs, Homeland was terminally dull after about the second series, IMO (controversial with some people!).

I think it was the hours of playing outside, Mrs. Sadly it wasn't repeated today, thanks to the weather.

Your dinner sounds very nice. We've had curry: chicken bhuna, chana masala (chick peas) and homemade naan bread. It was very nice indeed.

Mrs, do you like programmes about the railways? My5 has a lovely programme called something like 'Walking Britain's Lost Railways'. It's nice and gentle, but also really interesting.

We had pulled chicken burgers. Mine is the one without the bun.

Fluffy that looks delicious.

Mrs it's definitely the weather for meals with gravy today! It's been rubbish here all cloudy and windy.

Yours looks lovely too, Wreck!

I almost got blown over at the allotment; it was a bit breezy. I didn't get hot once either, despite digging and lugging heavy stuff, which shows that it was chilly!

Xmas Blush I'm here Mrs Xmas Grin

We got a Sainsbury order ( normally DH will load on the Favourites to reserve the slot then I go through it the day before to check for any Special Offers and add any more)

We forgot the bloody soya milk !
So today , I moseyed round to the local Tesco to Distance round . ( Wasn't a wasted journey , I took my new Sketchers trainers out for a walk. Very nice they are too)

Other people at work were posting photos of cakes and scones and cookies that they'd baked .
I have no flour so I sulked and didn't join in.

I'm watching the news abut lifting Lockdown. Part of me thinks "Oh I can book my dentist appointment that they cancelled"
Other part thinks "Shit we'll get mobbed by patients loooking for appointments"
I don't need to deal with them on the phone but I reckon a good number will come up to clinic to enquire (or family will)

On the plus side : We've booked a trip to the Christmas Market in Bath. Now crossing fingers that travel will be sorted by Nov .

FireflyGirl · 10/05/2020 21:51

I did a roast chicken dinner, mostly to get some veggies in us all! DS didn't want to eat his chicken, so rebelled... By eating his veggies instead Grin

MrsM I'd vote for you! The man excels at doing and saying nothing! He did nothing for 3 months while it bore down on us, when it was here he just shrugged and went 'some of you are gonna die, meh 🤷', and now we have the highest death toll apart from the US. He's been building this up all week, and then nobody has a clue what he actually said because it was so vague and contradictory.

I especially love the idea of sending foundation and Y1 back to school first, so they can all lick each other and infect their teachers Hmm

WreckTangled · 10/05/2020 22:23

I hope you put some gravy on that fire I could eat that right now it looks really tasty

Mrsmadevans · 10/05/2020 22:42

70 glad you made roll call l was going to mark you as MIA Grin
Soya milk l have been buying it for DD2 lately she likes it more than fresh Envy l don't Grin. Fingers crossed for the Bath Market surely to God it will be all sorted by then please !
Lovely meal Fire I agree with Wreck bit of gravy on that and Bob's your stepfather Grin well done to Ds eating his veg Smile thank you for the vote of confidance Grin Yes to the R & Yr 1 all licking each other and infecting everyone Grin there feels like there is not much hope atm to be honest Hmm. I wonder if they want the levels to go up again a little bit to encourage 'herd' immunity , God knows, it all seems so futile Shock
We shall soon see , 3 weeks to a month from now Sad
On that happy note l will say Good night , have a good sleep everyone SmileStar ZZZZZ

CrazyBaubles · 10/05/2020 23:12

I'm here too MrsMad 🙋‍♀️

Firefly I love that the rebellion resulted in more veggies 😂

The BJ update was a bit rubbish wasn't it? Also concerned how they're going to monitor near the borders considering England residents are allowed to travel to excerxie but Scotland and Wales ones can't. I know a few people who are just over the border who used to regularly come to Wales as they like the hikes etc.

Have been MIA as it's been a rubbish day today. DH is being a bit of a dickhead and I don't have the patience for it so he's been in the garden / in his study and I've been in our bedroom getting irritated with my crochet project (I'm making a doll and it's a bloody nightmare)!

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/05/2020 23:33

I'm here too - enjoying a little bit of peace and quiet with my crochet while everyone else is in bed.

We had roast beef and Yorkshire puddings for dinner with plenty left over for dinner tomorrow. There's a bit of a difference of opinion as DH wants the leftovers and the DC want takeaway pizza. However I'm allergic to cheese so pizza is no good for me so I'll end up cooking at least for me. To be honest I'm fed up with the whole planning/shopping/cooking gig which is confusing considering we didn't eat much in the way of takeaway before lockdown 🤷🏻‍♀️

CrazyBaubles · 11/05/2020 07:04

228!

CrazyBaubles · 11/05/2020 07:07

Woolly were you all out of the house for meals before lockdown? DH & I have both said meal planning and cooking is getting to be a pain in the arse and we think it's because we would both usually have breakfast and lunch in work so only had to cook in the evening (and we took that in turns).

I've been awake for about half an hour. I have a headache brewing which I think is related to not drinking much yesterday

Fingers crossed I can fight that off and that DH is out of his mood so we can have a nicer day today!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 11/05/2020 07:17

Everyone's meals look delicious! I am so tired of meal planning too, just need to update our shop today as it arrives tomorrow morning. They were showing flour as in stock yesterday but who knows if it will be delivered. Have added baking mixes again just to be safe.

Tried calling my grandmother again yesterday but no luck. I think she may be staying with my parents while my grandfather is in hospital.

Lovely and sunny here this morning but according to the weather very cold! Can't see any frost at least but will double check my plants in the garden. Am hoping that as the tender ones are next to a south facing fence that that will give them protection from the very lowest temperatures.

I didn't see Boris' speech but have read the information on the BBC news website and can't believe he didn't mention seeing family and friends even if just to acknowledge that it's hard for people. Clearly doesn't understand how important that is to people.

pussycatinboots · 11/05/2020 07:32

Morning Grin
Didn't do much yesterday, except chase Charlie to get his drops in Hmm he's getting better, it's not quite as much a battle to catch him...
We had Roast Beef, but I think it may have been Horse, it was as tough as one of Fluffys gardening boots Shock I'm sticking to chicken from now on.

Firefly, I couldn't have put it better myself. We're at 4 now of Dither, Delay, Panic, Run Away - and I reckon he's finally found out that a PM has to do some bloody work a thing that BJ has never done it's come as a great shock to him. The exit plan is how he gets out of this mess, not us.

You know I used to live in Chester - trust me, I could get into N Wales from England without being detected Wink

pussycatinboots · 11/05/2020 08:20

Ah, just read that back - I AM NOT going to go to Wales, just for clarity. I was really pointing out that the policy won't work. Neither will the assumption that people will use common sense, which is generally lacking in lots of people.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/05/2020 09:37

BoZo just needs to TELL people what to do, not make us guess! A nice, clear, plan like Ireland was needed. Easy (you'd think).

Apparently you can meet with ONE family member at 2m distance outside. Choose carefully!

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 11/05/2020 10:29

We are still screwed for family visits though. Realistically too far to drive there and back in a day for the sake of a socially distant walk and the family members I'd want to see are all on the long term shielded list.

Crazy under normal circumstances it would probably be just me and DH in for lunch during the week and depending on the school dinner menu DD1 and DS might only have a snack instead of dinner. DD2 would be either at uni or work during the day and would eat with us unless her social life dictated otherwise.

I do virtually all the cooking. DH and DD1 are working full days from home. DD2 is working part time and studying and DS has full days of school. It's just the relentlessness of it that's getting to me. I'm happy that I can get click and collect shops - it's a wee bit more expensive but manageable and I'm trying to vary the meals a bit so nobody is fed up but I'm hacked off about the takeaway pizza. Between that and the arguments at dinner about who's turn it is to do the dishes (we have a dishwasher) I'm ready to explode. I did a lovely lunch on Friday for VE Day with rolls, scones and a Victoria sponge (all homemade) and halfway through the younger two started squabbling about the dishes. I despair.

BiddyPop · 11/05/2020 10:40

We had a seafood risotto last night - I had vac packed mussels that needed using, and managed to get a couple of scallops (and the end of a tuna cut into 3 small steaks for tonight) at the fishmongers as they were closing, and had some prawns in the freezer.

I had intended crafting yesterday, but had to spend some time getting my home office better set up and that took most of the day. I did get the gardening done on Saturday though while it was nice - courgettes planted out, self-seeded tomatoes put into pots (out of the courgette space and trying to see if I can get some extra plants!), the tomato I sowed and a couple of peppers potted on, and strawberries planted into their planter. I still need to sow dwarf beans and dwarf peas into planters, but the forecast is cold for tonight at least so I thought I'd leave that for another few days.

Speaking of the Irish plan, I have 2 different Committee meetings tonight to start planning re-starting activities for different groups. And the Cub Leaders are looking at having an outdoor event in late June to invest our new Cubs (with suitable controls in place), and want to think about potentially camping in late August/September!! Subject to being able to manage that safely. (We normally camp in June but have also had a hostelling night before that). But work are saying that it might be December before we are all back in the office....

FireflyGirl · 11/05/2020 10:55

We've just had hailstones!

I've decided not to risk my plants even in the greenhouse, and am coddling them in the house. So, we'll be eating tea at DS's little table Grin

There's flowers coming on the courgettes (all male for now) and cucumbers (including females, so should get some cuces once I get them planted out properly)!

Countdown to Christmas 2020 - Lockdown: Peaked! (Thread 5)
NoWordForFluffy · 11/05/2020 14:10

It's bloody freezing here, despite the sun! The greenhouse is toasty though. I didn't want to go back outside!

My pumpkin plants have suddenly got big, Firefly. I think the courgettes will follow soon! My runner beans are just ridiculous now. I'm considering taking Friday off to get the bloody things in the ground as they're going to attach themselves to the racking soon!

Woolly, it's bickering central here too. They're a pain in the arse!

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 11/05/2020 15:02

My squashes got slugged, Fluffy Angry

I've replanted, hopefully they'll be able to catch up!

WreckTangled · 11/05/2020 17:59

The wind was freezing today! Still sunny mostly though.

We had pulled chilli chicken for dinner. I had mine with roasted cauliflower and chickpeas, DH with rice and the dc had theirs in a wrap.

Pretty bummed that we won't get to see family any time soon.

Anyway it's dds birthday mid June and she's 10 so her first 'big' birthday. I want to try and make it special somehow as all my plans have been thwarted. I'm going to ask school if I can send in some bits so they can do a little party lunch for her.

pussycatinboots · 11/05/2020 18:14

Wreck I read on a thread the other day about the posters daughter referring to herself as "hitting the big one-oh" which I thought was quite sweet Grin
