Morning. Welcome to our new thread.

We maybe have rain today. I really hope we do! I have no ides when we last had it.

I'm baking with the kids today plus potting some plants on. Exciting. No idea where they'll go, mind you!

Only 2 days left of furlough. Yaaay for the financial side and booooo otherwise! 😂

Morning!

Another gorgeous day here. Not as hot as some of you, but warm enough to be outside!

We're having BBQ later on as it's so nice.

I need to clean the kitchen and bathroom today but will save the corner until I've baked with the kids!

I'm just going to Aldi now for fruit, milk etc, plus stuff for the inlaws.

Enjoy fluffy!

I've hoovered the whole house and folded the washing. Bought a bed laundry box thing yesterday which has been delivered so might make that in a bit (much to dh's annoyance, he wouldn't even leave me his battery driver Hmm) just going to have another coffee and will then get to it.

FireflyGirl · 09/05/2020 10:26

Sorry for any confusion about my afternoon tea offerings - there are trays/pots of seedlings everywhere in my house/garden Grin

I have had a £10 off a £30 spend voucher from Boden, if anyone wants it? It says not for use on clearance/Harry Potter range, but I've used them on both before so worth a try.

NerosFiddle · 09/05/2020 12:43

Afternoon.

Very overcast here but humid. If it picks up I might break out the disposable bbq I bought last year and never actually got round to using.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/05/2020 12:54

It's much warmer here than forecast! I've just been to Morrison's to obtain giant marshmallows which we will cook over our new Firepit after the BBQ (DH will transfer the coals across and add a log or two).

I'm going to clean the kitchen then sit outside with a beer and cross stitch. It's nice to sit and do nothing during the day. A rare event indeed!

The cuckoo has not stopped since I woke up at 6:30 this morning. It's driving me mad

pussycatinboots · 09/05/2020 13:22

fluffy brave, very brave. Cross stitch n beer don't mix - trust me Wink

Warm and still here. Charlie is much better, but still being manhandled to get drops in 😸 DH is about to nod off on the sofa again at least it's peaceful enough to hear the sparrows chirping and the blackbird giving off Grin

CrazyBaubles · 09/05/2020 13:58

Oh dear, I went to the street party yesterday and it was actually really good. We socially distanced but also had quite a lot to drink. The street is very very quiet today, I think everyone is nursing sore heads 🤕

Weather is lovely here, hot, clear and with a slight breeze. I am enjoying it by sitting in my bedroom with windows wide open because my garden is rubbish, which suits me as no chance of getting sunburn in here.

Everyone else's day sounds quite nice too, and puss I hope all your neighbours are ok after the arguments yesterday!

pussycatinboots · 09/05/2020 14:03

Crazy there is much swearing, drilling and hammering from the broken oven side - so a classic bank holiday weekend Wink
they need more 🍺🍻🍺

WreckTangled · 09/05/2020 14:18

I've lost my shit with the dc. God they're such hard work sometimes SadAngry

Crazy sounds like it was worth the sore head!

It's 24° here I've had to come in as it's pretty warm.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/05/2020 14:35

Boots, I know! I had to unpick a load last night from the previous night when I'd had a few! 🙈😂

Wreck, I'm under the parasol so it's lovely. Just the right temp and shade to see the cross stitch and pattern.

Crazy, sounds like a good evening was had. Paracetamol and carbs are the answer and maybe hair of dog.

Wreck, DH heard me from 3 doors down yelling at the kids earlier. Blush I'm shouty mum alright!

Boots, your neighbours sound like they provide some entertainment for you! 😂

Afternoon everyone 🌞 Beautiful day here
Bobs buggered his washing machine up that's why l have taken over doing it . It's a very odd set up down the garage he has to turn the water on and off , the drainage goes down to the riverbank according to Bob ??? WTH is that all about . It's not easy to do anything there it's all botched , what is it about the elderly and the botched d.i.y jobs they have done , or do themselves, my Dad was exactly the same Hmm. The washing was dreadful. Blood stains and worse all over it. Put it this way l put it on a 4 hr intensive wash 90 degree and it still has not got the stains out. Before l did his washing l think his wife directed Bob to do it, [poor bgr did everything by the seems) but nothing has been done since. I am honestly so upset. His daughter does nothing. She bought a Dozen eggs from her hens and my mother found a pen, notepad and tape and wrote a note and stuck it to the empty eggbox fawning . To say that my Mother does not do anything because she is so lazy the effort she made to go to do that is beyond anything she has ever done for me. I am totally pissed off tbh.
Wreck* deep breaths m'dear Smile
Fluffy sounds idyllic [smile
Crazy l am so glad you had a good time yesterday Smile
Boot Warm here too Grin very glad Charlie is much better keep up the manhandling 😸 Grin
Nero hope the weather holds & you can break out the BBQ Grin
Fire thank you for the Boden offer very kind of you , l love Boden stuff but am too bloody fat ! Grin
Most l do hope it's good news for your Grandad Flowers
I have gone into Tesco in town, it is much more civilised than any other shop l have stalked outside and declined to go in Grin
I am going to carry on shopping in shops now the virus is declining, l wear gloves and a mask , take them off when l have returned the trolley and gel when l get in the car. I don't wash the stuff down but l do wash the surfaces and my hands after l have put it all away. l can see Tesco prices have really gone up. I imagine this will carry on until it gets back to some semblance of normality Hmm
CUE BIG SIGH HERE! Grin

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 09/05/2020 18:06

Have tried ringing my grandmother multiple times today but no answer so will try again tomorrow.

Social distancing went to pot on our road yesterday, when I was putting DS to bed all the children were playing out on the road together.

Had a lovely day in the garden after an early trip to the allotment. Earthed up my first earlies and were pleased to see the first of my main crops appearing. Back home my runner beans have germinated :)

Mrsmadevans · 09/05/2020 19:28

Ahhh hopefully no news is good news Most [flowers[
Am a bit surprised the children were allowed to play together but at least it was outside in the street and they say the virus is much diluted in the open air . Fingers crossed they will all be ok .

NoWordForFluffy · 09/05/2020 23:06

I hope you get to speak to your grandmother tomorrow, Most. Is she likely to have been at the hospital (are non-CV-19 patients allowed visitors)?

I've done loads of cross stitching today and some unpicking!. Attached is the last week of progress (the first photo is the second day's work).

Mrs, did you soak the clothes in cold water first? A hot wash will cook the blood etc into the fabric. A soak in cold water first will help to release it (tip for next time!). Poor Bob's washed sounds bonkers. God knows what that's about.

Most, I'm earthing up (actually, down, as my spuds are in a trench with heaps of mud next door to knock in) tomorrow.

I noticed Tesco prices were up, not because I knew each price, but because my usual order was way dearer than it used to be a month or so ago. By quite a large % too. Not good!

Morning everyone 😀
Fluffy no l didn't soak it 🤗
Great tip thank you 🤗
It's freezing here this morning DH has put the heating on 🤯 in May !
Wondering what BJ is going to say tonight. Am a bit 🤔🙄🤯🤪 at 2 billion for cycling and I have a feeling that now is not the time to be spending all that money either. I am not against it because of the benefits to health and the environment but I don't think it will affect many of us in Wales tbh . Hey ho seems to me the Govt are picking things out of nowhere and announcing them all the time telling us how much the virus picture is improving 😬🥺😟. Meanwhile they seem to be squandering money on gowns that are not suitable for use. Apps that no one thinks will work 🙄 in the meantime , my local Tesco is amazing. The staff are doing a fantastic job all the while so afraid of catching it. They restock the aisles and block them off and if you want anything from the aisle they go and fetch it for you. Much better way of doing it than in other stores l have been in. Aldi's staff were awful.
Have a good day everyone 😀 am off today Dd1 doing Mum & Bob am glad of the peace tbh🤯

NoWordForFluffy · 10/05/2020 08:51

Morning!

If you have a cool pre-wash setting on your machine it may help, Mrs. Especially if there's too much for a bucket!

The kids are still asleep. This is the longest they've ever stayed in bed! 😂😂 We've only just got up too. But I need to go to the allotment, so needs must!

Something was making a noise in the loft last night. I think it was the starlings tap dancing, but all I could think about was Luther! 😬

And...I've finally scored a Sainsbury's delivery! They'd been impossible to get as I'm not vulnerable (wouldn't even take me to the booking page due to not being on the list!), so I'm very excited indeed! While I don't mind going, it's a bit of a pain, in reality (I'll still have to get apples elsewhere, however, as Sainsbury's ones are quite a bit dearer and we eat loads).

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 10/05/2020 09:25

I've noticed that there are more delivery slots available now, Fluffy. I'm hoping it means they've recruited more staff rather than people are going out more.

I need to go earth up my spuds today, before the temperature drops tonight. It's cold already outside! I was also planning to set up the supports and netting to plant out my peas after the frost, but we've got 40mph winds that have come out of nowhere, so I'll leave that for a bit!

I've been in dresses for the past couple of weeks, and have found this morning that my jeans don't fit, so I need DH to get my maternity clothes out before I can go anywhere!

I hope you manage to speak to your grandma today, most Flowers

FireflyGirl · 10/05/2020 09:33

PS, speaking of stains, any tips on getting orange juice stains out of white cotton?

Someone has been eating satsumas in my bed Blush

NoWordForFluffy · 10/05/2020 10:01

I'd use Napisan and dry in sunlight, Firefly. Or rub liquid on and leave for 15 mins before washing. (A paste made with powder and water should also work.)

It's definitely easing up for deliveries, thankfully. I hope it's extra staff too.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 10/05/2020 10:31

Fruit juice is the worst but sunlight and vanish is what I use. I'm just trying to get sun cream out of dds t shirt Hmm

We didn't wale up until 8 the dc were downstairs. Ds has so far had a brioche, a bowl of cereal, a bowl of ready brek and is now on his second slice of toast Confused DH is washing my car and dd is having a zoom quiz with her friends.

Pleased you got a delivery fluffy!

NerosFiddle · 10/05/2020 12:08

Morning (just about still).

Wreck we had a family zoom quiz last night and I won! Tbh it was the highlight of my week.

I've been able to get a few Tesco deliveries. I should have been able to get a Sainsbury's one because I have an isolation letter from the gp. But they haven't rolled it out to NI yet. It'll all be over before they do.

Mrs I think BJ needs to make a more stringent lockdown but I know he won't. The NI government has said it'll be at least another 3 weeks here.

Fluffy the prices have definitely gone up. I used to be able to do my Tesco shop for around £40. Then a top up for milk and bread and a meat pack from the butchers for about £15. So that was £55 per week. Now my shops are closer to £70.

Fire, use vanish and make a paste and leave it for a while. Then normal wash. It work on get spag Bol out of dd clothes.

Most I hope you get some good mews today.

It's freezing here today. But I made a huge fry up this morning. Made it feel like a real winters day. I loved it. And when dh comes back from work I'm going to have a nice hot bath. It's the simple things in life.

WreckTangled · 10/05/2020 12:36

Neros we won our family quiz last night too by 10 points! Dd won her friends one today.

I'm just having some marmite on (low carb) bread. It's my favourite comfort food.

WreckTangled · 10/05/2020 15:15

I've had a big sort out of the dc's room. Tidied, cleaned and thrown loads of things out. There's still more to do but it looks much better. We might watch the new Dora in a minute.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/05/2020 15:41

I have tidied round the pond area today. The top left picture you can just see the weedy area on the right by the slabs to see what it was like before!

My path had the last 8ft weeded and covered in another 2 inch depth of slate as well. Plus I did some other weeding too. So much more still to do, but it's getting there!

Wreck, well done on tidying.

Neros, Sainsbury’s deliveries haven't worked well for anyone, I don't think. And our food shop has gone up by about the same.

Well done on the quiz wins! 🏅

BoZo won't relax any more than any other part of the U.K., I don't think. He shouldn't, unless he's a fuckwit, anyway. 🤔🤔🤔

Oh, suncream never comes out, by the way!
