Morning. Welcome to our new thread.

We maybe have rain today. I really hope we do! I have no ides when we last had it.

I'm baking with the kids today plus potting some plants on. Exciting. No idea where they'll go, mind you!

Only 2 days left of furlough. Yaaay for the financial side and booooo otherwise! 😂

Silent Night, Hark the Herald and O Little Town of Bethlehem as my favourites.

My plants are beyond origami pots now. They're fine for sowing in, but not potting on! (I did see GW, yes!)

Most, those poly greenhouses are a pain in the arse for toppling! That's what killed my lemongrass.

Firefly, I love the idea of summer carols for your DS!

Wreck, your dinner sounds good. What will you BBQ? I found some reduced turkey sausages in Sainsbury's today so got two packs to try.

Boots, I hope Charlie is better soon.

Weather has been weird here. How is it with you most & MrsMad? It looks lovely from inside but it's cold and windy when you actually go outside.

One of DHs colleagues is a member of the Salvation Army and we went to their Christmas service / show a few years ago. It was lovely and I bought a CD of carols sung by their choir. I love them all but Once In Royal David's City is my fave.
For more modern I love Mistletoe & Wine or Wonderful Christmas time (although they aren't that modern now I think about it Xmas Grin

Glad Charlie has forgiven you puss. I hope he's better soon.

MrsMad I went to Festive last year. I go pretty much every year but never buy anything. It used to be great but I think it's gone down hill - I only go now to take my mum because it's an ingrained part of her build up routine now!

I would be upset if anything happened to my cactus. I bought him as a 99p tiny thing in a colourful pot. He's now 7 and just over a foot tall - only plant I've managed not to kill except some herbs in the garden because they need zero interference

Firefly I've babysat loads and don't know the words to any nursery rhymes so my go to songs / lullaby's are either Jamie Cullum or Christmas songs - used regardless of the month Xmas Grin

Just about to take the dog for his walk then home for a hot shower, Pjs and evening watching tv with DH.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/05/2020 19:17

Ohh favourite carols ?

I cannot carry a tune in a bucket but if I'm on my own in the chair I sing along to FairyTale of New York (I'm Shane , natch Xmas Wink )

The Radio Presenter this morning was predicting LockDown Christmas and having Christmas Dinner in separate rooms (which would suit my DS if he was allowed to pootle away to his ManCave and not be forced to endure my beautiful table )

My DH has started Binge Watching "Luther" again. The cats are not fans by the looks of things and have , like Elvis , left the building .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/05/2020 19:18

in the chair ? In the car .

NoWordForFluffy · 05/05/2020 19:28

This is my cactus. I can't remember how old he is. Probably over 30! Why might remember when I got him (Spike. Original!).

He almost died a while ago but is now thriving in my mum's care. 😁

I don't know what my favourite modern Christmas song is, though Don't Let the Bells End by The Darkness is amusing!

Love Luther 70!

Not sure what my favourite Christmas carols are. I cannot stand away in a manger it makes me unreasonably angry.

Fluffy I'm not sure. It'll be an Asda delivery on the day so I'll add burgers, sausages, kebabs and halloumi burgers and hope for the best! Will just do a simple one as it'll obviously only be us Grin

BiddyPop · 05/05/2020 20:24

I was making slow but positive progress in learning my new job today, and nearly finished work when my new boss called me - I've been asked to take on a different project internally so have a different new boss. Eugh, just as I was starting to make sense of 1 new set of legislation, I have to learn a different set.

pussycatinboots · 05/05/2020 20:50

We've managed to get 2 lots of drops in. Creeping up on him while he's asleep is the way forward Wink He's been rewarded with a couple of dreamies.

Biddy I suppose it's nice to be wanted? Even if it is a pita for you to start afresh.

fluffy I think the pitch of Justins voice is directly linked to the tightness of his trousers. Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/05/2020 21:20

Little Drummer Boy is in itself a beautiful song but has been forever tainted with the connections to Brady and Hindley Xmas Sad

Mrsmadevans · 05/05/2020 21:35

Ahh Luther 70 he's so masterful Grin
Crazy l thought someone went there last Christmas Grin
Weather has been lovely here but like you say cold in the wind . .
Boot excellent work with the drops yay! Good Charlie boy too Smile
Fluffy Spiky looks very healthy , your Mum is doing a great job too by the looks Smile
Biddy What a pain , nevermind you will respond with your usual stoicism and get to grips with this asap knowing you Smile
Started watching Zoey's extraordinary playlist today , bit like Glee and l loved that Smile also Lincoln Rhyme hunt for the bone collector, Both very good Smile anyone seen them?

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 05/05/2020 22:33

You got Spike when you were 11 so over 30 bless him. At least you had him or he would not exist any more. If I had him then he would not have lasted a year.

A potential mismatch choir then. Could be interesting.

pussycatinboots · 06/05/2020 06:27

Are you sure it's spike and your mum hasn't replaced him?
My mum did this with spot (goldfish) but she got one without a spot 🤦‍♀️ so it was pretty obvious what had happened.

WreckTangled · 06/05/2020 06:46

I slipped over in the shower this morning. DH game running in Blush almost winded myself. Anyone recommend a bath mat that won't go mouldy?!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/05/2020 07:14

Gosh hope you are ok wreck?

Lovely sunny day here and it should be warmer than yesterday. From tomorrow it should be paddling pool weather for the weekend :)

NoWordForFluffy · 06/05/2020 07:51

Morning! It's lovely and sunny today. Definitely not paddling pool weather today or any time this week, however. Today is our hottest day at 18° so we aren't as toasty as some of you!

Wreck, we soak our mat in bleachy water every few weeks; it gets pretty grim! I hope you're OK.

It's definitely Spike. He has distinguishing marks on him from when he almost died. 😂 Most definitely not a stand-in🌵

Luther is great. But the last series wasn't as good as the previous ones, IMO. The guy under the bed / in the attic is so bloody scary. I can't watch them on my own! 🙈

OP posts:
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/05/2020 08:17

I have to confess I check under my bed and in my wardrobe every night after seeing that Luther episode.

Supposed to be 23 degrees here on Saturday!

NerosFiddle · 06/05/2020 09:55

Our weather is not looking anywhere near as good.

I loved the last series of Luther. Thought it was genuinely creepy.

Has anyone been watching normal people? I finished it last night. It was excellent.

Countdown to Christmas 2020 - Lockdown: Peaked! (Thread 5)
NerosFiddle · 06/05/2020 09:55

Wreck I hope you are ok.

WreckTangled · 06/05/2020 10:04

I am fine thank you Grin

Oh rubbish Neros!

pussycatinboots · 06/05/2020 15:06

Wreck I wipe the tray and rinse before I get in as DH seems to spread shower gel or shampoo on it - I have slipped a couple of times and hurt my already v iffy neck (grr) I'm not sure how he does it - it can be like an ice rink.
most DH is going to wash the cars, which means I don't need a paddling pool as I'll be karchered. He shoved the (very cold) hose down the back of my shorts/bum crack region once...
Nero I can recommend "Flesh and Blood" on ITV or "The Split" on BBC if you want a good drama. We watched "Flood" (with David Suchet) on 5player thingy at the weekend - that was very good.
I'll swap my weather for yours any day Grin
fluffy how long until my spuds show? We're 9 days in and DH keeps wanting to "have a rummage" to see if they're growing Hmm I've told him to leave them alone...I will confiscate his gardening gloves!

CrazyBaubles · 06/05/2020 15:58

I had Christmas carols in my head all yesterday evening after reading this chat Xmas Grin

Spike is lovely Fluffy and I'm impressed with his age!
I've attached a pic of mine (Clive) and the Aloe plant of DHs I've rescued. He/she doesn't have a name yet.

Biddy A move to a new project is a pain in the arse but it just mean your reputation is good and you're in demand!

MrsMad is the bone collector programme like the film because I enjoyed that when it came out.

Wreck are you ok after your slip?

I loved watching Luther but I binge-watched the last season while DH was on a weekend away and wish I hadn't, I was scared at every noise in the house!

Not heard of Normal People Neros but always on the lookout for something good to watch.
I'm going to start the new season of The Good Fight soon - does anyone watch it?

puss you're going to have to ban your DH from going in the garden at all at this rate!

I'm currently banished upstairs while DH does teams calls with his class. I am 😡on his behalf though because I overheard a mother being quite rude to him - she contacted DH because she wanted him to tell her child off for refusing to eat his veg! Pretty sure making sure the kids have a healthy diet is a parent job not a teacher one. Not sure what he said to her but the call ended pretty quickly after!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/05/2020 16:24

Gosh that's so rude of the parent crazy!

Ouch boots!

Used my new hoe at the allotment and it solved my back pain issues with weeding. My first early potatoes are really going for it. My second earlies are now all showing themselves so it's just the maincrops I am waiting for now :)

Mrsmadevans · 06/05/2020 17:53

Afternoon everyone Grin
So up to Mum & Bob's , showered her , meds, creams, brekky, glasses , new batteries for the hearing aids , cleaning of them & her glasses. Did the necessary washing, hanging out & ironing . I tend to do it as it comes l can't deal with a huge pile of ironing Angry. Bob's phones are on the blink again Hmm spent ages trying to get them to work again. The batteries in the handset had gone now Hmm
Crazy Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector is excellent and it is the same one as the film yes Smile We watched the third episode today , next episode on Monday Smile. We are loving Zoey's extraordinary playlist as well & if you liked Glee then you will love this Smile .Woah that Clive is a good looking plant Crazy Grin
Very rude of the parent too no wonder you were cross Flowers
Nero have not heard of normal people either but will have a look at it definitely .
Fluffy hope the weather improved for you over the day it's been glorious here Smile l am not boasting honestly Smile
Most glad your back is ok, yay to the new hoe Grin
Glad you are ok Wreck Smile l chuck my mat in the washing machine every week and then dry it and have not ever had mould in mine. I didn't realise it was a thing but mine are like towelling mats no rubber in them.
Hope Charlie is continuing to improve Boot Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 06/05/2020 19:12

Boots, my spuds took almost 3 weeks. They're doing well now though. I'll need to cover them on Friday though due to potential frost. Good time to do the first earthing up!

It's been nice here today. Especially in the greenhouse. I'm pretty sure we've peaked, however!

Mrs, I think your mats are different to Wreck's! Ironically, I think Wreck is referring to the anti slip bath mat in the bath.

Boots, I think your DH is trying to kill you! 😱😂

Crazy, what a shitty parent. Why would you do that (though she's probably at the end of her tether with the kids now!)?

We have a great hoe, Most. Which one did you get?

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 06/05/2020 20:12

fluffy I know! I may need to re-write my will and leave every penny to the cats Grin He's bloody watered drowned everything again.
most Checked on the spuds - nothing. I do have a fair amount of carrots and a few sweet peas thoughSmile
I want this greenhouse, but it has to have the remote control locking mechanism from Curse of the Were Rabbit GrinGrin can't afford it anyway, but I can dream
Charlie is much better, he's sleeping off his tea ❤
Mrs can you get a cheap cordless set of phones from argos? ours were about £20 on an offer.
Crazy Clive is very impressive Wink Your DH has the patience of a Halo I really couldn't do his job, not in this life or the next.
