Thank you @luckiestgirl for the title which came from her post which I’ve copied below

‘I twitched on the moles.
And the Clinique
And at body shop (30% off)
And at love honey (I got £20 off)
And I’ve somehow bought an 8 foot Christmas tree.
And lights
And a TV.
And a fitness tracker.
And stocking fillers for the kids.

Oh god, stop me now please‘

I now need 2 coffee gifts to go with the aeropress. I remember there was a deal but I’m guessing I’ve missed it. Does anyone know of any other good coffee bargains?

Luxplus · 09/12/2019 10:15

@rheasmummy thanks. My moms been looking for that one for my ddGrin

woodwaj · 09/12/2019 10:23

Can anyone recommend a coffee that is similar to douwe egberts no 5? They dont make it anymore and my parents aren't happy Wink

tisonlymeagain · 09/12/2019 10:54

I was wondering this @Givealittlebit I ordered some on EBay but then the reviews of the seller were so negative I cancelled.

I can't see any decent reviews on Amazon - the ones with all the reviews...if you read them are actually for different products Hmm

TheBrockmans · 09/12/2019 11:07

@ supermariossister I have got dh a key ring with his parents handwriting on from here you can have it double sided with photo too. I thought it was something he can carry around with him, but isn't in front of him all the time if that makes sense. I liked that it was their actual handwriting which I found on an old card which must have been twenty years old. Just took a photo and sent it to them. Not massively bargainous but delivery was quick. They are saying on website now to order by 13th though. They did have other personalised gifts.

IdleBet · 09/12/2019 11:20

Any chocolate spoon recommendations? I'm sure somebody mentioned them many threads ago.

LazyDaisey · 09/12/2019 11:21

@Unihorn

“Watching Hampergeddon unfold and I feel like Pam on Gavin and Stacey. It's all the drama Mick, I just love it. “

I wish I could like/upvote this... gave me a good chuckle this morning imagining Pamela on the tablet and a cuppa talking to Mick.

Unihorn · 09/12/2019 11:43

@LazyDaisey she's a definite MNer!

Givealittlebit · 09/12/2019 11:48

@tisonlymeagain that was my concern! Don't want to waste money on something rubbish as have a really limited budget for my other half, but thought he'd appreciate them!
Might just stick to pants and socks 😂

tisonlymeagain · 09/12/2019 12:19

It's like these @Givealittlebit

www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Headphones-Waterproof-Cancelling-Phone-White-white/dp/B081N4M1QG/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

The reviews are all clearly fake - all new, NONE verified. It would say verified if they had been bought via Amazon. I'm sceptical because if they were a decent product they wouldn't need fake reviews?

ihavetogoshoppingnow · 09/12/2019 13:17

Any ideas on how I can get a Lego boost any cheaper? I dithered on Black Friday because I wasn’t sure but now DS has actually asked for it I’m really regretting it! TIA Xmas Grin

Bansku19 · 09/12/2019 13:29

@ihavetogoshoppingnow There is a copy of Lego boost for £29.90:

I've found a tv show to get me in the mood for wrapping, called.... Wrap Battle! Each week contestants face different wrapping challenges in a bid to be crowned champion Grin I am very jealous of their wrapping stations and all the paper and accessories at their disposal, it's like heaven!

Jammiebammie · 09/12/2019 14:04

@22Giraffes that sounds like my kind of show! In fact I’m pretty sure I could be a contestant lol I’ll need to check it out. I like watching wrapping videos on YouTube, dh thinks I’m weird.

Aw I’ve made a bit of a balls up, finished for dd3, not finished for dds 1&2 or anyone else and now I’ve actually ran out of money! No idea how I haven’t been organised with my budgeting this year, this has never happened before!

SmallAndFarAway · 09/12/2019 14:18

@Fueled, thanks for the Dunelm tip!

Taking another crack at it - flower subscription? Magazine subscription? If they're computer savvy and into genealogy, an ancestry subscription? A plant for the garden?

imsorryiasked · 09/12/2019 14:25

@Jammiebammie oh bugger. Can you return some of Dd3's to free up money / even out? Got any gift vouchers lurking in the back of a drawer?

Elphaba17 · 09/12/2019 14:33

Jammiebammie- could you sell some things on eBay/ gumtree? Or do you have a very account or similar where you can buy some things and then pay off next month as normal. Obviously only buying what you know can afford to pay, but the point is it would help you out of a hole.

Elphaba17 · 09/12/2019 14:35

I've been struggling to keep up with the thread as children have been off sick etc but I just wanted to thank the posters who advised me about scooters for DS who is almost 3. It seems mini micros were the thing to buy and as that is out of GPs budget I think I'll just ask them to leave the scooter and get something else. At least it leaves me with a great idea for his bday in the new year.

Jammiebammie · 09/12/2019 14:38

@imsorryiasked thanks, I’m sure it will work out, dd3s gran has to get them something still so will sell her one of the toys I’ve already got. Just looked at my app and although the older 2s look a lot less I’ve actually spent pretty similar so a bit less stressed now.
Dh gave me money to stick to a budget and I just haven’t worked it out very well, don’t really want to go grovelling to him as he’ll get grumpy 🙈 it’s just so easy to buy for dd3 and when she’s in and out of hospital I just sit there feeling sorry for her while I check out with amazon, really need to give my head a wobble. Still to buy stocking fillers and pjs too but it’s not the end of the world, I trying so hard to NOT be stressed this year lol.

Has anyone got a student code for Nike? Girls gran wants to buy them trainers and she’s wondering if the student code stacks on top of the 20%. Thanks.

Jammiebammie · 09/12/2019 14:49

@Elphaba17 great idea, I’ve got a couple of things I’ve been meaning to put on gumtree for a while, thank you.

thaegumathteth · 09/12/2019 15:17

Help please!

Does anyone know what brands are cool with 13 year old boys? Ds is clueless and wears a lot of Adidas but I'm not sure if that's 'in' . Anyways I want to get him a new wallet - I've seen a puma one - is puma ok? I'm losing the will tbh with getting him stocking fillers so any advice greatly appreciated!!!!

MyEnormousTurnip · 09/12/2019 15:20

What brands are deemed cool varies greatly by area so I’d just go with that he likes. Also Nike is a pretty safe bet though.

Mistressiggi · 09/12/2019 15:34

Jammiebammie in true mumsnet style, can I gently suggest you have a dh problem, not a budgeting one - everyone knows how hard it is to stick to a budget for children at Christmas and if you have come in pretty close I'd say you've done very well - if he hasn't put the work in I don't think he has any business being grumpy!!

Jammiebammie · 09/12/2019 15:37

@Mistressiggi you have no idea how true that is... I’ve got to ask him for my own money.

Anywhoo, not bringing this happy thread down, you’ve all been so wonderful I don’t know how I’d manage each year without these threads so thank you Xmas Smile
