Thank you @luckiestgirl for the title which came from her post which I’ve copied below

‘I twitched on the moles.
And the Clinique
And at body shop (30% off)
And at love honey (I got £20 off)
And I’ve somehow bought an 8 foot Christmas tree.
And lights
And a TV.
And a fitness tracker.
And stocking fillers for the kids.

Oh god, stop me now please‘

Another cry for help, my DS has collected all the RSPB bird soft toys, he has asked Father Christmas for a wren because we have one in our garden, it would appear that not only do the RSPB not do one but wren soft toys do not seem to exist in this country, any bright ideas?

imsorryiasked · 08/12/2019 08:51

@hoopdeloop tough call on that budget, but have a look at Wilko - they have 2 for 3 on lots of sticking fillers. Maybe this lie detector kit or these mobile phone xmas lights

Got anyone looking for harry potter or frozen items there are loads here

Themazeoflife · 08/12/2019 08:56

£40 on amazon for a wren!

Themazeoflife · 08/12/2019 09:01

Wildforms.co.uk said they had one but I can get the page to load to check.

Themazeoflife · 08/12/2019 09:02

*i can't

yafilthyanimalandahappynewyear · 08/12/2019 09:05

@Fuckingfuckssake Amazon has a small Handa wren but its extortionately priced at £42!

imsorryiasked · 08/12/2019 09:05

@Fuckingfuckssake can you knit or at a push sew (I reckon if you used the Robin sewing pattern in brown, but put its wings on upside down and shortened the tail you'd get away with it!)

imsorryiasked · 08/12/2019 09:08

Unfortunately those on Amazon aren't British wrens

Themazeoflife · 08/12/2019 09:15

Could you make this?

www.wildforms.co.uk/wren-needlefelting-kit.html

Fuckingfuckssake · 08/12/2019 09:39

You are all brilliant and kind people, would you believe we already have a needle felted wren, he is obsessed with birds, it needs to be "a teddy of a wren" and, a British wren, he knows his stuff. I am in no way crafty unfortunately 😔 it seemed like such a modest request when he asked I didn't think anything of it!! I've found one in Germany but I'm afraid it wouldn't get here on time. Thank you all.

imsorryiasked · 08/12/2019 09:44

@Fuckingfuckssake what make is the German one?

NotYourHolidayDick · 08/12/2019 09:48

Just a quick heads up, Highland gift are definitely a fraud network. Get your chargebacks in! They've just posted on their Facebook about their admin costs, but are blocking and deleting all the solid evidence (unpaid bills, no tracking info provided, not a single hamper delivered yet), so they appear genuine.

Chargeback the fuckers and at least make them have a bill with their bank Angry

noodledoodler · 08/12/2019 09:56

@Fuckingfuckssake what about trying zoo shops? Our local zoo can arrange postage on gifts for example, maybe e mail or ring around. That plush wren on e bay is a hansa toy so might be stocked in zoo souvenir shops, good luck 😀

BarkandCheese · 08/12/2019 10:02

hoodeloop I don’t want to be that poster, but do your class gifts need to be boys and girls? Last year DD was y6, her lovely teacher very kindly gave them all Christmas gifts, the boys got frisbees and balls, the girls got pretty but impractical unicorn stuff. DD was a bit cross (to me she wouldn’t have said anything to her teacher) because she (and her friends) would have much preferred the things the boys got.

Themazeoflife · 08/12/2019 10:12

@hoopdeloop

I would get these

Henbrandt 2 x Christmas Stationery Set 5 Piece - Great Stocking Filler or Party Item www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NZ9S5IM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_GXm7DbFJZPCB2?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

margaritasbythesea · 08/12/2019 10:17

Wasn't someone looking for a glibe like this? Not a huge bargain, but at least a few quid off.

www.amazon.co.uk/Shifu-Orboot-Educational-Augmented-Reality/dp/B075WW3JKQ?smid=A1FMPIT0DS0B4&ref_=Oct_DLandingS_M_8c2cd6ad_60&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

hoopdeloop · 08/12/2019 10:25

Thanks for all the suggestions, it doesn’t need to be necessarily for the gender, we try and get a mix and we know what might be suited more to the child who wins.

Mistressiggi · 08/12/2019 10:26

DEC20 gets 20% off full price items at Nike.

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 08/12/2019 10:28

Thanks @margaritasbythesea - it was me looking for a smart globe. Sadly my DS wants a much more expensive kind that has a pen you tap around on the globe... have set up CCC alert and am googling daily! Only seems to be at Ryman's (and not eligible for discount codes) and Amazon. 🤷‍♀️

starrynight19 · 08/12/2019 10:28

Notyourholidaydick I think that’s unfair. They are offering people a full refund. They are still saying people will get their orders and people have had dispatch details. Here’s hoping they are genuine. If they are it’s sad that a small business could go bust if they are landed with large chargeback bills.

Mistressiggi · 08/12/2019 10:30

As I don't have too much to lose I'm still playing hamper chicken. I'm a few days off the date they said I'd have mine by so can wait till then. They haven't deleted my post saying that no one has received a hamper yet btw. I'm not sure the purpose of contacting your bank for a refund rather than them, other than to exact more charges.

starrynight19 · 08/12/2019 10:33

mistressigi I guess this next week will be telling as surely some people should start receiving them. I just can’t imagine why they would offer refunds if they aren’t genuine.
