Thank you @luckiestgirl for the title which came from her post which I’ve copied below

‘I twitched on the moles.
And the Clinique
And at body shop (30% off)
And at love honey (I got £20 off)
And I’ve somehow bought an 8 foot Christmas tree.
And lights
And a TV.
And a fitness tracker.
And stocking fillers for the kids.

Oh god, stop me now please‘

Is anyone else experiencing slow delivery from Cox and Cox?

I placed the order on 23 Nov, received apologies for slow dispatch (email) on 25 Nov, but have heard nothing since.

Hoping it comes soon as the order contains gifts for friends we will see next week and don't want to buy alternatives. Especially disappointing since their P&P costs are so steep.

thaegumathteth · 06/12/2019 15:04

Sorry I can't find who mentioned about Hype being a deal on amazon but thank you! Just got a top dd £18 down to £7.20 Xmas Smile

imsorryiasked · 06/12/2019 15:12

@NotUnderMyHeart have a look at mulberry bush they've got quite a good choice of things under £5.
Otherwise, perhaps Amazon for craft sets or activity books - there's a good football one if they're from the uk www.amazon.co.uk/Football-Activity-Book-Extra-Time/dp/1796420948/ref=asc_df_1796420948/?hvlocphy=1007181&linkCode=df0&hvptwo&psc=1&psc=1&hvnetw=g&hvadid=311219507756&hvpone&hvlocint&th=1&hvpos=1o1&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl&hvqmt&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&hvtargid=pla-649799246579&hvrand=7570126118497871788 here]]

sugarplumfairy2010 · 06/12/2019 15:18

I ordered from cox and cox on the 22nd I messaged yesterday asking to cancel as hadn't heard anything from them and within an hour I had a despatched email but no reply to my email 🙄

MyFriendKimberley · 06/12/2019 15:32

@sugarplumfairy2010 Thanks for sharing. I've emailed them today so hopefully they will reply to me sooner than the five working days they suggested.

thesoo · 06/12/2019 15:45

This message just appeared on the Hamper Company Facebook page

For clarification:
We cannot respond to all the messages below so will answer most of them here.

  1. Our company was formed in May 2019. Our director is 19 (scary we know!). We are not affiliated in any way with any other company of the same name previously nor do we anywhere say we are.
  2. We are a small team of 3 people. We are working through orders as quickly as possible but we have had some delays. We have sent regular emails to all those subscribed to our email service to keep them up to date.
  3. We have offered a full refund to anyone who is yet to receive their orders and wishes to cancel in light of the comments on here from a small number of keyboard warriors.
  4. We are prioritising sending the orders over replying to every single email at the moment as we want to get our customers orders to them as quickly as possible.
  5. Those people who have asked for a refund by email today, have had their refund processed straight away.
Thank you, HGC Team
Mistressiggi · 06/12/2019 15:54

It's all very odd. Obviously they aren't going to go "it's a fair cop!" and admit if they are scamming people, but on the other hand I can't see the point of their updates (latest half an hour ago) if they are currently on a flight to Amsterdam with all our loot.

FeltCarrot · 06/12/2019 15:58

MyfriendKimberley my Cox and Cox order took over a week to arrive. Considering their postage charges are £6 I would expect them to be quicker.

LazyDaisey · 06/12/2019 16:07

I’m not understanding he bitching on hampers. It was discussed within 30 minutes of original post that the director was a 19 year old, and was convicted before. Lots of people cancelled and were immediately refunded. How did you get the hamper link and miss the pages of discussion about how dodgy they might be Confused

PinkJam · 06/12/2019 16:10

@thesoo Thank you for posting the update Smile It’s very confusing and they do seem to be sticking to their word of issuing refunds.

@Mistressiggi I was thinking the same Confused Why bother keep replying? I feel bad if they are genuine and have lost these orders. But then suppliers said they hadn’t been paid so I don’t know what to make of it all.

KavvLar · 06/12/2019 16:20

Any ideas on the best place to get a bargain small/medium tv for the children to play wii games? Thanks

Lovemusic33 · 06/12/2019 16:20

Popped into town as had to go to dd’s Christmas fair earlier. Tk Max had champion T shirts for £10, I know some people were looking for the sweatshirts and hoodies. Lots of lovely gifts in there too, had to try not to twitch, needed up buying dd some novelty socks with different dogs on them.

Went to Matalan with my 25% voucher and couldn’t find anything I wanted (was looking for basic T-shirt’s for the gym).

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 06/12/2019 16:21

bluewaves I bought a Chinese one and actually quality was great for the £5 I paid - came in a lined box. but if not there's a programmable one on Amazon for around £15 I looked at it for dd2.

fuckingfucksake not sure how to pm will try to work it out once I've sorted dinner. if your dd isn't after particular clothes could you get a second hand bundle off eBay and wrap up in a little suitcase? the works have little suitcases which are lovely and bundles of build a bear clothes are v cheap - I bought one with clothes/shoes and skates for around £10 before.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 06/12/2019 16:25

notundermyheart I would go on the works get a selection of sticker books/scratch art books for the girls depending on age. the boys a notebook/draw your own comic book (Amazon). then a pack of pens/pencils each and a selection pack/bag of chocolate coins.

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/12/2019 16:58

Still catching up. I'm on last night @20.00. I have 2 Lakeland codes of they are of use to anyone

Mistressiggi · 06/12/2019 17:00

Thanks for the helpful comments Laizydaisy
Possibly the fact that we are on thread 18 and each thread has 1000 messages - I have a bit too much going on in RL to read every.single.message.
I'm not cancelling - I figure if I can expect the dc to believe in Santa I can believe in the power of rehabilitation Wink

Mistressiggi · 06/12/2019 17:05

Did anyone buy children's gloves with flashing lights from amazon last year? I can't remember if they were a thread bargain or not. Anyway amazon have just sent me an email saying they may be unsafe for use due to a potential chemical risk, and to stop using immediately. Shock If I can find them I've to return for a refund. I wonder what happened to make them recall.. hopefully nothing too bad.

CheekyFucker · 06/12/2019 17:11

@LazyDaisey those later to the thread would have missed that. It is a shame that there was not something more clear when people were posting about ordering more if there were known to be concerns.

Offers tend to be brief so there is no point looking at posts from previous pages.

I did not buy until the sale, so quite late.

I am staying hopeful. Their communication has been excellent so far.

SkintSanta · 06/12/2019 17:19

Beer52 is offering 20% off all gift subscriptions with the code GIFT20. Worth it if you are looking to subscribe. Only difference for gift subscriptions is you select how many months you want to send it for, and pay in one go as opposed to monthly. There is already a discount for multiple months pre discount code, so ends up cheaper than the original boxes, and can choose from 1 month to 12 months.

MerryTwinkletoes · 06/12/2019 17:19

@lifelongfrugaleer please could I have a Lakeland code if still available?

0ttoline · 06/12/2019 17:35

I bought a lovely fabric advent calendar recently from a company I would recommend, and they have a few toys on sale. They look great for preschoolers - carry-along fabric play houses with little figures. This one is a castle with dragon etc, at £14 instead of £25. www.plaidtidings.co.uk/product/king-arthur-castle-fabric-playbag
There are Snow White and Red Riding Hood ones reduced too (and a Santa fabric advent calendar is also on sale).

The one I ordered was a (full price) nativity advent calendar. It's well made so I think the other toys will be good too, and they sent it quickly too. Not exactly cheap but a bargain, I think.

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/12/2019 17:35

@MerryTwinkletoes £5 off. £25 or £30 spend. I have one of each but one is from the my Lakeland card so not sure if it's account specific

LostMyRubySlippers · 06/12/2019 17:51

Character.com have free delivery with code DASHER19

Kutsy · 06/12/2019 18:04

A bit gutted about Highland Gift company. I bought quite a few gift boxes and hampers for friends and colleagues. Not sure if they are going to turn up now and have very little time to sort out alternatives! Anyone seen any nice hamper baskets or gift boxes that I can use to make my own hampers? And those of you who asked for a refund, have you got one yet?
