September 1st Xmas Grin

CrazyBaubles · 01/09/2019 09:06

I can't believe it's September already!

I'm going to jump straight back in to the thread from now, I think I missed too much of the last one to catch up.

So, my holiday is over and I'm getting over the jet lag. Christmas planning starts today!

I went out to watch a show yesterday (Annie at Cardiff Bay) and while we were there, me and my friend booked our Christmas cruise for next year. 12th December 2020 I'll be at Bruge Christmas market Xmas Smile

CrazyBaubles · 01/09/2019 09:07

PS Fluffy not a hangover cure but something that always makes me feel better - try a lolly (lemonade or orange)

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/09/2019 09:08

Morning. Let's see how long this thread stays on my TIO Xmas Hmm

Back to school this week too in the Woolly household. I'm so organised I'm scaring myself.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/09/2019 09:12

I think we're all set for school too. Thursday is return day for us.

DH finally tried their plimsolls on the other day and I got DD new t-shirts for PE, and those were the final bits.

I imagine DH cannot wait to be alone in the day again! 😂

Tiptoes in too, whispers...

Morning, happy new thread, new month, and start of HGP (for those doing that) 🤶

Hope you feel better soon Fluffy

70s please send me tips on that face, I will need it before long here!

Coffee not kicked in yet, need to do a lot of admin here at home today, but it's fine weather this morning so I might try and clean the outside of the windows (lots of dust after the summer and the gloom of winter won't be long coming). Definite change in temps yesterday to autumn (and lots of wind meant the Scouts rowing event yesterday had to be postponed and it was not a nice trip across the harbor to return the rib I had borrowed from the sailing club ).

Ok, finish coffee, shower, tackle paperwork....I have a plan!

sideorderofchips · 01/09/2019 11:26

So it’s autumn now right?

Ninjaplus1 · 01/09/2019 11:42

I’m also very fragile today, the usual “never again” has been uttered. Enjoying getting ideas for Christmas, I may need to start a list.

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/09/2019 11:51

Who are you buying for ninja?

My list is very streamlined
DH
3 DC
MIL (DH sorts this)
3 sets of nieces & nephews - cinema passes
1 set of siblings - always edible stuff/booze
1 goddaughter - gin

The other siblings have agreed no presents as we buy for their children although I have seen a beautiful bauble on either Etsy or Notonthehighstreet that reminds me of my late mum so I'm thinking of buying one for me and each of my siblings.

Ninjaplus1 · 01/09/2019 12:03

Just close family. I’ve agreed with friends not to buy the kids presents this year, just stick to buying birthday presents instead. All the children were born round Christmas.
I’m looking at booking some Christmas outings and maybe seeing what food I can buy.
I hate supermarkets in December.

ritzbiscuits · 01/09/2019 12:22

Watched The Grinch animated movie yesterday with DS, I'm getting in the mood.

DS' birthday is end of October so have started present shopping and can split into Birthday vs Christmas piles later!

Ninjaplus1 · 01/09/2019 12:39

Waiting for my son to go back to school, then I can sneakily watch The Polar Express.

MarcieElizabeth · 01/09/2019 13:23

Wooly replying to your earlier comment on the other thread, I meant to say he’s turning 5. He’s starting reception this year though, and from what I can tell they do so many activities for Christmas. DD is starting nursery too so it’ll be double the fun this year!.

MarcieElizabeth · 01/09/2019 13:30

Sorry about your head Fluffy, plenty of water for you!. I find chocolate really helps me.

My DC both start on Tuesday, so my mums taking them out tomorrow so I can make sure I have absolutely everything and everything is sorted.

This year I’m buying for my Dad, mum, DC, my nan and my other nan and grandad. So hopefully it doesn’t cost too much this year!.

It’s chilly and overcast here, so it’s super autumnal!.

iklboo · 01/09/2019 13:39

Wotcha gang. DS goes back Thursday as well. We might actually see him for part of the day now.

With Strictly, GBBO & Celebrity Masterchef I'm going to have to do some serious telly planning.

EmrysAtticus · 01/09/2019 13:48

I wish we could cut the people we buy for :(

DH
DS
Dcats (just some dreamies)
4x DBro
Dsis
MIL
SFIL
FIL
SMIL
GPIL x2
DM
SF
Ddad
SM
GP x2
Aunt and Uncle (have no children and I am only niece)

It's ridiculous!

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/09/2019 13:58

That is a long list Emrys!

It's not just the cost even though that soon mounts up - it the thought that needs to go into buying something that you hope will be appreciated.

EmrysAtticus · 01/09/2019 14:01

Exactly woolly! Christmas is the only time of the year I resent family for divorcing and remarrying 😂

iklboo · 01/09/2019 14:24

We've got:

DH
DS
(me)
My parents
MIL & her fella
FIL & his wife
BIL1 & his girlfriend
DNiece1
BIL2 & his girlfriend
DNephew1
BIL3 & his girlfriend
DNiece 2
BIL3's girlfriend's 3 children
SIL & her fella
DNephews 2 & 3

NoWordForFluffy · 01/09/2019 15:25

We barely buy for anyone, by mutual agreement.

It's:

DD and DS
My parents
Each other.
2 x nieces on his side
1 x niece and nephew on my side.

Done! Xmas Grin

We’re like Fluffy, once the kids started having kids we all agreed to just buy for immediate family. It saves so much hastle

everythingisginandroses · 01/09/2019 16:03

Kaffir lime chilli olives purchased today - that's the Christmas hamper started Smile

EstherLittle · 01/09/2019 16:24

Can I join in please? I think this is going to be the first year it’s just me, DH and our DD’s for Xmas. My in laws both passed away this year so I think we’ll have a quiet Xmas as this year has been an emotional rollercoaster.

Just walked my dog in the woods and it was feeling very autumnal today.

MarcieElizabeth · 01/09/2019 17:09

Welcome Esther, I’m sorry to hear about your PILs. I hope you have a lovely Christmas this year.

It’s gone sunny here now but there’s still a chill in the air, it’s lovely.
