MrsMad when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping.

Fabulous news Midsummer - it's such a wrench when they start school and it's horrible if they don't settle. I remember DD1 turning on the waterworks and sobbing about having no friends. Luckily for me it was all an act and she is still close friends with her Reception class buddies over 20 years later.

I hope your DS is ok Fluffy

Brer both my DDs have been to the dentist this month with wisdom teeth issues so I have every sympathy for you. Our Christmas dinner is just for the 5 of us but last year we ate a couple of hours earlier than we usually do due to DD2 going out and it just felt wrong. My plans for this year definitely involve going back to late dinner (sometime between it getting dark and Dr. Who starting) - but we definitely have a chilled day which usually involves me being in the kitchen with DH regularly topping up my wine glass in between Mario Kart races with our DC.

TheWoollybacksWife · 06/09/2019 20:15

Sorry Bear not Brer

BearRabbitPants · 06/09/2019 20:29

Woolley wisdom tooth pain really is the pits! DH and I were supposed to be going for a bottomless brunch for a friends birthday tomorrow, first time we will have been out in agesssss, babysitter all organised etc- NOPE! I can't eat anything but sloppy food on one side of my mouth 😞 and DD is unwell. When I'm better I'm eating the biggest Cake ever!!! Your Xmas day sounds nice, I'm just fed up of running round all day & having to be sociable & entertaining for guests every year, it'll be nice just to chill out a bit Smile

AMidsummersNightsNightmare · 06/09/2019 20:31

Bear so sorry to hear you’re feeling rubbishFlowers it’s the start of the winter bugs here and my lo’s are just like me, we pick up everything. So I’m ready for the next few months to be full of snot and sickGrin

Wooly thank you!. DD1 went in so well so I assumed DD2 would be the same, but it was a big shock the system.

We’ve just found out my cousin is expecting her 3rd girl!.

BearRabbitPants · 06/09/2019 21:29

Midsummers thank you- I'm hoping they push my referral through soon for the bloody tooth to be removed it's totally impacted growing the wrong way in to the gum itself 😖! 4th infection I've had now 😢.
Yep it's the season of snotty noses at nursery I'm not looking forward to that 1 bit. Just hoping this Xmas I won't be ill with D&V like last year that my lovely DS picked up from nursery & gave to me ! Not being able to eat at Xmas was the worst thing ever lol.

FireflyGirl · 06/09/2019 21:29

Thanks for the wishes.

Well remembered, Fluffy, yes DH birthday is 100 days to Christmas which is next Monday. Where has the year gone?!?

We've survived the first week at school! I don't know who's more exhausted, DS or me. His favourite thing about school? Lunch Grin that's my boy!

FireflyGirl · 06/09/2019 21:40

We were there a couple of years ago, Bear. Joys of parenthood.

It was DS's second Christmas, DMIL's first 'turn'. DH didn't make it out of bed, DS refused to eat anything or open more than 3 presents, and we were all back in bed by 5pm. It's one for family legend Wink

Mrsmadevans · 06/09/2019 23:10

Woolly go back to what you enjoy the most. I think l have done enough shopping for today 😁
Just off to bed 😴
Have a good night's sleep everyone 🤗

Mrsmadevans · 06/09/2019 23:13

Firefly he's a chip off the old block ! 😋😋😋
Ahh remember when perfectly symmetrical buttocks used to do that. I wonder how she is .

FireflyGirl · 06/09/2019 23:41

I missed when PSB stopped posting, and wheels. I know wheels had some health issues, hope it wasn't due to those.

DS1’s still got an upset tummy so I’m up with him tonight, I’ve managed to get my list sorted though. I have no idea what to buy the DC this year. But I will buy for:

DC
Dm
DDad
DGM1
DGM2
DGF
Dsis1
Dsis2
Dsis3
Dsis4
DB
DBIL
Daunt
Duncle

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2019 07:33

Morning!

Strictly starts tonight. 😁 We'll start to watch later, as ever, once the kids are in bed! Hurrah for iPlayer on the TV.

I've just need talking to the kids about Christmas (they think it's great that I always know how many sleeps it is!) and they've now decided they don't want a proper Christmas dinner, they want the usual buffet / party food! At least I found out now. Xmas Grin

Sorry about all the unwell people; it's miserable, isn't it?

Firefly, DS is led by his stomach too. 😂

Sorry I dropped off (again!.) we’ve just had the unexpected news that I’m 11 weeks with our 2nd baby!

WreckTangled · 07/09/2019 15:37

Congratulations Jakey

I also fell off. Back from holiday now and have been picking up some bits from the bargains thread and adding to my amazon wish list.

Also look at our sunflowers. At the bottom you can just see the top of DD's head. She's 4ft5 Grin

Dd and I are excited for strictly and I've signed up for emails on the tour.

It's GBBO, Strictly and the start of the -ber months...the countdown to Christmas 2019 is officially ON (thread 5)!
FireflyGirl · 07/09/2019 19:56

Congratulations, Jakey

I'm so jealous of your sunflowers, Wreck. Mine in the garden all got nibbled by slugs 🐌 🐌 grr. I planted nearly 30x foot high plants in the hopes that some would make it, but they were all munched. We didn't get a single flower! We have cats and DS, so the only pest control is me on my hands and knees picking out the little blighters!

The sunflowers at the allotment were all okay, but nowhere near as tall as yours!

Have just caught up on the bargain threads as well, got some ideas and bought a lot of bits. The personalised books look nice.

Also, those of you on here interested in gardening, there's a hydroponics system on [[https://www.brandalley.co.uk/16513863.html
brandalley]] that's a good deal. We have a smaller one which was the same price and it does a really good job. We were giving away basil and dill! I've got a tomato and chilli plant in there at the moment, but have bought this to grow salad leaves.

WreckTangled · 07/09/2019 20:03

We literally stuck the seeds in the soil and left them! Barely even remembered to water them 😅

BearRabbitPants · 07/09/2019 20:10

Wreck I love your sunflowers 🌻! I'm going to plant some with DS (she almost 4) next year- he loves them! We went sunflower picking this year at a local farm & took some lovely photos. I love them. I read a thread on here once though whereby many people listed sunflowers as their irrational fear 🤣! So odd.

My tooth is feeling a little better today I've just managed a chow mein - chewed on one side of my mouth only- and a couple of prawn crackers! Yippee 😁. DD still not right... hate it when kids are ill feel so helpless.

Went in Debenhams today to get some autumn clothes for the kids & we saw some great puzzles for DS for Xmas. Going to wait for their next Blue X sale and go back to get them!

BearRabbitPants · 07/09/2019 20:11

I meant age almost 4 not she almost 4! Stupid predictive text

BearRabbitPants · 07/09/2019 20:13

Firefly your Xmas from a few years ago sounds awful with you being ill! I was 30 odd weeks preg last Xmas too with my D&V it was the worst !! Praying no illness in this house this Xmas!!

StanAndMe · 07/09/2019 20:41

Ooh please may I join?. My little boy will only be 2 so he doesn’t quite understand, but this will be our last Christmas before his brother comes along. So I want to make it special for him!.

NerosFiddle · 07/09/2019 20:51

Evening all.

Hope everyone is well.

We're just back from our summer holidays. The heat was far too much for dc. I don't think we'll do a sun holiday again. They take after me and hate the sun. It's autumn and winter all the way for me.

I tried to do a bit of Christmas reconnaissance today. The range, Matalan, TK Maxx and Homesense all had their cages out with their stick but it wasn't on the shelves yet.

I went to Eason and they had the Good Food Christmas magazine but I did well to resist. I don't need another turkey recipe that I won't use.

Mrsmadevans · 07/09/2019 22:10

Nero, lovely to see you back again , agree with you re the hols, it is too hot, too busy and everything seems to be top dollar price. Thank you for reccying the joints shops for us great work, well done taking one for the team Xmas Grin
Wreck lovely to see you back after your hols, amm loving your Sunflowers they look so healthy and happy and tall Grin
Did you enter the draw for SCD audience tickets, Fluffy and l are going together if we get tickets for the final Grin
Firefly Girl , they do say to put soot around the plants, where the hell you are going to get soot from beats me , it's kinder than all the nasty salt /slug pellets that hurt them, poor things l don't like the thought of them in pain/ dying a slow painful death , l know l am a bit sensitive Hmm always have been , it would stop you having to bend and pick their slimy selves off the plants too Grin, good news Wheels is ok too just moved on to other things Smile
Fluffy we are doing a late SCD tonight too Grin
DADADADADADADADADADADADA Grin
70 have not seen EE since Sharon had the affair with Keanu , it was a bit too farfetched for me then l just gave up on it . Quickly followed by Corrie and Emmerdale , oh for the halcyon days of the 80's we absolutely loved them all then Grin

lauryloo · 07/09/2019 22:22

Hi all. I really need to get myself in gear this year.

Very unexpected pregnancy has just been realised Confused

FireflyGirl · 07/09/2019 22:49

I've never bothered with soaps, MrsM. They just lurch from one disaster to the next, the amount of teenage pregnancies is completely disproportionate to the number of residents, and do some of these locations have houses with amenities that are especially attractive to serial killers 'Recently modernised 3-bed detached family home, with master en suite and built-in soundproof torture basement'??

Glad to hear Wheels is doing okay!

If you're squeamish, I won't tell you what I do with the slugs I do find... 🤭
