2019 Christmas bargains thread 1

Reastie · 18/08/2019 07:26

Jingle those bells because it’s time for thread 1!

The aim of this thread is to share ideas for Christmas bargains and present ideas and a little bit of Christmas chat etc. I’ll try my best to do a post with the most popular links, if there’s anything specific you’d like me to add or if something I’ve put up doesn’t work please let me know in bold . Thank you

As usual no affiliate links (I’m still not exactly sure what they are but consensus was not to have them) and if we have any sites to post personal sign up links we’ll do this on a separate thread so all can post their links, I’ll do this when —I get around to it— soon.

@Mammatron also if you search house and garden on Amazon there are some blankets including a wearable one, lunch bag, cushions etc.

Adesignforstrife · 29/08/2019 08:11

I was going to post the Bawbags sale too! I have some myself which I love and have just put a few more in my basket plus a couple for DH. Free delivery too (not sure if there's a min spend).

babypossum · 29/08/2019 08:46

This is a great thread, thank you! Can anyone help with ideas for my nearly 11 year old DS that I can pack in a suitcase as we'll be abroad? He's done lego to death I'm afraid.

Jammiebammie · 29/08/2019 09:13

Cult beauty have their goody bag, worth £220 free when you spend £140. Always great goody bags, I’ve bought them the last 2 years, although last years was in November, and you had to spend £175 to get a £300 goody bag free then - I’m wondering if they’ll bring another one out closer to the end of the year though as the last couple weren’t this early. Worthwhile if you’re spending quite a bit on make up anyway.

PinkDaydreams · 29/08/2019 09:13

@Jammiebammie I’d never thought of usc so thank you! Now to find a free delivery code!

Jammiebammie · 29/08/2019 09:20

No worries pink I read somewhere that you can get free delivery over £10 if you order on the app, but haven’t tried it. Or a £5 credit if you do store pick up.
You can also get 10% student discount but I’m not sure that works on already discounted items.

Luxplus · 29/08/2019 09:22

@imsorryiasked thanks for the dora link Smile

recklessgran · 29/08/2019 09:27

Brilliant sale going on at Lands End a lot of summer stuff but also loads of gloves, scarves, hats and slippers along with some Christmas tops, festive cushions, throws and a couple of trad tree decs. Free P&P on orders over £30 at the moment but Code DM30PC will take 30% off your haulon top of the sale reductions. That's a few gifts sorted for me.[Particularly pleased with the sheepskin ballet slippers that were £35 originally but paid £9.80 for those! ]

@babypossum I’m probably not the best to answer as I don’t have boys, but I have dds of similar ages.
What about headphones (my dds annoyingly are asking for air pods this year), or games for any console he may have, or vouchers for tablet if he has one? Dd2 got a sprocket photo printer for her birthday this year and loves that she can print straight from her phone. What about those mini flying helicopters you can get? My dh in his 40s had fun with one last year Grin Where are you going abroad? Are there any excursions or activities you can do while you are away that you can print off a voucher for? Is he into any branded clothes yet? Magic finger lights have been a big hit here, so have their echo dots. Is he into any art, drawing, sports, music, gaming or Collectibles? (funko pops are loved here). There’s lots of cool card based games out now too that won’t take up much space.

babypossum · 29/08/2019 09:35

Thanks @Jammiebammie, I like the sound of the photo printer and I know the helicopter would be a great idea! Pokemon card's are still a firm favourite so will get some of those too.

MsMiaWallace · 29/08/2019 09:36

Calendar club have 15% off & free delivery when you spend £10. Code EB15.
They've got some great note pads/ stationary etc.
Just ordered DS some Harry Potter stuff. Cheap too!

recklessgran · 29/08/2019 09:58

Thanks for the USC tip - just got £224 worth of CK gear for DGS for £96.
Love this thread!

MamaRaisingBoys · 29/08/2019 10:01

Smiggle water bottle sale, today only 25% off

Sux2buthen · 29/08/2019 10:36

Oh my god that USC site is amazing. My 14 yr old stepson will hopefully feel the benefit after payday. I will be able to get him some Xmas stuff put by. Thank you

Scruffalicious · 29/08/2019 10:51

Thank you so much, SquintEastwood ! I know a lot of small-arsed men so the 10 mystery pants for £25 was perfecto! Grin

Scruffalicious · 29/08/2019 11:40

recklessgran you have just sorted out some lovely rash vests for my DC (we live near water and surf year round) and school shoes for my youngest. ~blows kisses~

Wiifitmama · 29/08/2019 11:55

Thanks so much for the Lands End tip! I bought only sale items, used the 30% off code, and saved an additional £28!

For those looking for christmas stuff - don't just put christmas in the search box as it does not come up with much. However there were lots of christmas themed long sleeved tops - for girls in particular in the sale section. One lovely red one with a sequin christmas tree on it. For boys there were some reindeer ones too. You have to actually scroll through the tops to find them though. I paid £2.10 for each of the long sleeved tops (boys) I bought!

gaggiagirl · 29/08/2019 12:11

Another thank you for the lands end tip. Got DD some winter boots, some shorts and like wii above, the sequin xmas tree long sleeved T which will do her over the xmas jumper season.

NeitherNowtNorSummat01 · 29/08/2019 13:15

Sorry if it’s been mentioned but H&M have 20% off kids clothes today

Becles · 29/08/2019 13:27

Just spent a bundle with Lands End. Thanks for the tip and 30% discount code.

getupgonow · 29/08/2019 13:41

Thanks for the lands end tip here too - bought waterproofs and new clothes for 9yo who is growing like a weed

LikeSilver · 29/08/2019 14:32

Somebody was looking for pool floats - The Entertainer had loads today down from £10 to £6.66.

Can anyone remember what the best deal the Disney Store do is? I have a fair amount to spend but I seem to remember they’ve done 20% off before.

Redwinestillfine · 29/08/2019 17:27

Thanks for Landsend code, not Christmas related but I got dressing gowns and slippers for the kids and a few cool sequin tops for when it gets cold in a few weeks!

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2019 17:38

I got rain coats from Lands End for my two, so thank you here too!

LoonyLunaLoo · 29/08/2019 17:56

@babypossum I have a 10 year old too and we’ll be abroad for Christmas. He’s getting an Apple Watch as he’s been covering ours and when we looked around high schools (😵) I saw a lot of year 7s with them on! That won’t take up much room in the suitcase. Then he’s getting some Vans/ Fox T-shirts and some DCs skate shoes which we’d have bought him for the holiday anyway. The rest will also be things he’d need for the holiday anyway, so a beach towel, pool toys, a snorkel and mask. I’m going to get him a large inflatable and blow it up to make the pile look bigger as we’re stating with friends who have children and they’ll obviously have a normal sized pile not travel sized one!
