2019 Christmas bargains thread 1

Reastie · 18/08/2019 07:26

Jingle those bells because it’s time for thread 1!

The aim of this thread is to share ideas for Christmas bargains and present ideas and a little bit of Christmas chat etc. I’ll try my best to do a post with the most popular links, if there’s anything specific you’d like me to add or if something I’ve put up doesn’t work please let me know in bold . Thank you

As usual no affiliate links (I’m still not exactly sure what they are but consensus was not to have them) and if we have any sites to post personal sign up links we’ll do this on a separate thread so all can post their links, I’ll do this when —I get around to it— soon.

Zillaindie I'm hoping to get a work bench too, I like the Le Toy Van one but it's expensive so I'm keeping an eye out for alternatives.

justmemrsb · 18/08/2019 09:05

Ooh can I join.. absolutely loved following last year and already grabbed some bargains from the prequel thread!

Thanks for the new thread Reastie, and happy bargain erring to all.

I've just got some very sweet rompers for my niece in the Jojo Maman Bebé sale. They've also got things like mittens at 3.50, a reindeer jumper in the smallest size and this cut Christmas Polar set in 3-6 months at 8.00.sorry on phone so can't do proper links.

Thanks reastie. Just checking in and reminding everyone that next Saturday (24th august) smyths toys are giving away free Harry Potter Lego instore. If you can get there without DC then would be a great stocking filler

An extra 23% off Buy a Gift sale with VCTEAWEEK. Items are already up to 50% off. Didn't see any huge bargains but might be useful if you were looking to get a voucher anyway (and lots more options obviously if you're near London rather than in Wales!).

checking in

I love these threads, thanks Reastie

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/08/2019 09:30

Checking in. Thanks reastie.
Am I right in thinking we have reastie jnr now. Did s/he arrive safely?

torthecatlady · 18/08/2019 09:41

Sorry to hear that @woodwaj I'm
Sure you'll still have a wonderful Christmas

Thanks @Reastie for the thread! I've been looking forward to it for months.

If anyone spots a bargain keyboard and stand, ds 8 has decided that he wants one! I might have a look locally second hand, as I'm sure there's some nearly new ones out there.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 18/08/2019 09:43

iggy have you looked on m&mdirect? they have branded clothing very cheap. or if you happen to be near an outlet vans shop you can get great bargains.

I'm looking for origami bits for stocking fillers this year, my girls are really enjoying it. so a big bundle of square paper and possibly an instruction book. they are 10 and 7.

through picking up during the year I'm pretty much done for the girls just some of the new LOL dolls/pets when they are released for dd2. and any specifics they ask for nearer the time 😁

Sundaychiller · 18/08/2019 09:54

woodwaj · 18/08/2019 09:59

Thanks tort we will. I'm claiming custody of all the christmas decs 😉

Depending on space my aim is to get one main present for my ds the thomas super station which is currently £90 on amazon and it doesn't seem to move much in price!

RagamuffinCat · 18/08/2019 10:13

It's getting closer now Grin

Reastie · 18/08/2019 10:18

Wood I’m sorry to hear that.

Badger it must be at least 2 years since Robert? He’s still dds favourite toy!

Lifelongfrugaleer we do indeed! Ds is 2 months Grin. I’m a little sleep deprived so bare with! I’m thinking I can just wrap up dds old toys for him for Christmas, he won’t know! (Although not from Father Christmas as that’ll give the game away).

Ah many congratulations

Shelbybear · 18/08/2019 10:35

I'll join in with this, I need to be super organised this year, due my 2nd in December. Family laughing at me when I say I've started buying in! Got my daughter 2 big gifts already 👍 think Amazon going to be my good friend near my due date, defo getting prime this yr.

The thing that I find hard is I have 8 birthdays between Sept and Xmas to buy for, all of which I also buy for Xmas 🙄

Mynameisnotthis · 18/08/2019 10:35

Signing in! These threads are my happy place. However as I love bargains so much I’m already nearly done for both DC. just ‘main presents’ to get for both really. However still have the rest of the (notoriously difficult to buy for) family presents to get so hoping for inspiration!
Also on mat leave and nil pay kicks in in December Shock

sideorderofchips · 18/08/2019 10:44

Woooohooooo!
Now it really is the countdown to Christmas!

@woodwaj the superstation has been reduced to £77ish on Amazon prime day and was £80ish last year on prime day so I'd keep an eye on it for a Black Friday reduction.

101Robin · 18/08/2019 12:14

If anyone is interested in stocking up on the booze early, Morrisons are doing 3 bottles of wine for £5 online. Most are only £2-3 anyway but there's a £6.25 bottle included

Delurking to say thanks for the new thread, it was my first year reading last year and it was such a help to me xSmile

Moltenpink · 18/08/2019 12:37

Yaaay we’re back!

My tip- see if you can get a free smart pass trial for Ocado. Every month or so they send a link to the smart pass sale, and everything listed will be half price using the code they send. I ordered nice wine for £3, 6 lagers for £2.25, make up, toiletries etc on the last one.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 18/08/2019 12:45

Thread 1!! Checking in. Barely bought anything so hoping this will help start the ball rolling

FlowerTink · 18/08/2019 13:30

Thank you Reastie! I love these threads every year! I have DC2 arriving in January so I'm hoping to be sorted in plenty of time in case they make an early appearance like my first!
