Jingle those bells because it’s time for thread 1!

The aim of this thread is to share ideas for Christmas bargains and present ideas and a little bit of Christmas chat etc. I’ll try my best to do a post with the most popular links, if there’s anything specific you’d like me to add or if something I’ve put up doesn’t work please let me know in bold . Thank you

As usual no affiliate links (I’m still not exactly sure what they are but consensus was not to have them) and if we have any sites to post personal sign up links we’ll do this on a separate thread so all can post their links, I’ll do this when —I get around to it— soon.

I'm on the hunt for a fill your own advent calendar, last year's from hobbycraft was about the right depth but looked and felt a bit cheap. I've seen a few but they only seem to have dinky sized pockets or drawers.

@Becles have you thought about making a fabric one? They can be made super easily and cheaply, and you can have varied sized pockets to slip things into!

@Mileysmiley my little one was 2 in may and loves his scooter! Also I got an chalkboard/whiteboard easel and big pirate ship for the garden (both second hand on fb and cheap!! Easel was actually free) and spent some evenings sanding and repainting, both look gorgeous now!

NoWordForFluffy · 23/08/2019 13:35

@lazymoz, it's WORD without the space after WORD before the bracket.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/08/2019 13:36

That didn't work! [[https://www.amazon.co.uk?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 www.amazon.co.uk WORD ]] without spaces at either end with the brackets.

Has anyone seen any decent offers on skateboards for teen boys or could recommend what your cool teen is using

MrsCrimbo74 · 23/08/2019 13:46

Not to sound like a broken record but sports direct have got some skateboards on offer, not sure if they're good ones or not though Smile

Strawberryfield12 · 23/08/2019 14:17

Scruffalicious · 23/08/2019 14:27

Wolfcub There are skateboards in The Entertainer sale - about £10 I think.

Shantotto · 23/08/2019 14:34

@wolfcub I don’t think you’ll get a cheap ‘cool teen’ skateboard from somewhere like the entertainer/ sports direct unfortunately.

I thought myself oh so cool hanging around with our local skateboarding gang in my teens (and my much alter years!) and they all bought theirs from proper skateboarding shops.

Not to disparage any previous OP suggestions at all of course! Depends on age / his style is he going to take learning tricks seriously on it etc.

Buying a complete set up from somewhere like slam city skates where he can change bits / replace bits if he wants starts from £80 for adult size. Like I said really depends on his age, his seriousness etc etc.

Scruffalicious · 23/08/2019 14:38

Shantotto 's advice is probably better Grin

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 23/08/2019 14:57

Got my daughters last skateboard from skatehut.co.uk. They have a big bank holiday sale this weekend and you can sign up for discount.

Shantotto · 23/08/2019 15:52

And @naturalblondeyeahright has much better prices than I found! Went to first place I could remember from 15 years ago! Grin

StarShapedWindow · 23/08/2019 17:03

Tea and Biscuits - thank you, what a magnificent bargain!

Isadora2007 · 23/08/2019 17:51

@Reastie smiggle sometimes do a fab sale so could you get her 24 wee bits and wrap them yourself? Or half smiggle bits and half chocolate wee things to reduce the price.

Isadora2007 · 23/08/2019 17:53

Or they’re doing a discount on buying more than one- got any friends that would split? If you buy four it’s around £22 odds each.

PrincessConsuela12 · 23/08/2019 17:55

Place marking 😀 thanks @Reastie
