Sorry for my bad spelling, it’s my sisters birthday today and the children won’t leave me aloneGrin I suppose I should get used to it

NoWordForFluffy · 11/08/2019 18:04

Afternoon!

Busy day at the allotment today and - excitement - I pulled up our first parsnips! Our beetroot is superb too. I'm rather impressed with myself!

I sowed more lettuce and beetroot today too, where the beetroot came out. Hopefully they'll come up soon.

I got a handful of blackberries; it'll be a couple of weeks before there's loads! And our strawberries are enormous!

I think we might pickle our beetroot. Or some of it, anyway.

We're drowning in runner beans too. And I'm growing more too. 😂

I think all of our veg at Christmas will be homegrown, give or take!

@IAintWroteNoPoetry I have 5 children to buy for (friends babies) & they all say they have this issue 😄🤦🏽‍♀️ I remember writing and rewriting my lists when I was younger! X

IAintWroteNoPoetry · 11/08/2019 18:49

We have 3 nephews and 2 nieces, my 2 sisters, and our friends son to buy for who are children. It’s bloody hard Princess, I might just get them all a big chocolate and sweetie hamper to really annoy their parents😂

PrincessConsuela12 · 11/08/2019 20:26

@IAintWroteNoPoetry 😂😂 I'm sure the children would be delighted with that! I'd be delighted with that 🤣

I've put a reasonably noisy gift (walk across keyboard) as a possible present for my friends DD, I'm thinking of buying my friend some earplugs as a joke... she's usually quite relaxed about noisy:/messy gifts but I'm not sure if I'll get it 🤔 could be something she regifts to me at some point in the future! X

IAintWroteNoPoetry · 11/08/2019 21:08

Fluffy that sounds delightful. It looks so gorgeous.

Mrs Thank you for her birthday wishes, she had a great day.

Princess I’m not a huge fan of BIL so I might buy his DD a full drum kitGrin

Morning!

I think it's meant to be dry today, thankfully. Though it was a touch spitty in the wind as I left the house. It's stopped now, however.

We had our third rock'n'roll evening in a row last night, both of us stitching away. 😂

Mrs, what rugby was that? I don't follow it.

We should have the second allotment confirmed this week. I went onto it yesterday and am partially filled with dread! It'll be OK though!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 12/08/2019 07:18

Fluffy your Robin is so cute, I'm sure your dm will love it.

I still haven't actually cross stitched anything yet. I am determined to at least attempt the little Aldi Christmas set I bought.

Don't dread the second allotment, you've done a great job turning your one around - and you have the dream of home grown veg for Christmas dinner this year. That will be amazing!

Rugby was a World Cup warm up match I think, England V Wales. We didn't do very well...

Princess I bought the walk across keyboard for my niece and nephew - they both love it (they are just turned 1 and almost 2). Dsis does not appreciate it 😂

I am feeling so festive and it's making me feel all off kilter because we're away and it's warm. We're in Portland today (and tomorrow) before moving on to Vancouver for a few days. We left San Francisco yesterday and I've needed suntan cream yet I'm thinking of Christmas. It's like having seasonal jet lag Confused

MrsMad & Emrys you'll be pleased to know I've taught about 6 different people here the word cwtch 😊 The Americans we've met so far have been so friendly and interested in hearing about Wales, but our accents have been mistaken for Scottish and Irish quite a lot 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Mrsmadevans · 12/08/2019 08:26

Morning everyone 😀
Fluffy sposed to to be dry today , we shall see. Well done on the allotment you will soon lick that into shape 💪🏋️‍♂️😃
Crazy your hols sounds wonderful 😁 enjoy sweetie 😁 excellent work on the cwtcy word lol am not surprised they think you are Irish or Scottish we all share an equal amount of incoherance 😁😅
Off to Mum's this morning then off for 3 days 😁

EmrysAtticus · 12/08/2019 08:27

Yay for spreading the Welsh love Crazy :)

IAintWroteNoPoetry · 12/08/2019 09:59

Morning everyone!
Are you thinking of growing anything different in your new allotment Fluffy, or just using it as an extension on what you’re already growing?

Crazy your trip sounds amazing!

Mrs have a good day with your mum, I hope she’s okay!.

I’m cleaning the house today, our mates will be coming over for tea tonight (even though they’re here most days, this day they’re just invited). I’m off work today so I’m hoping to get the house as good as new and then get the dinner on.
I might order a cross stitch and see if I’m any good, any ideas on a good one for first timers?.

sideorderofchips · 12/08/2019 11:05

Morning all

Hell of a thunder storm last night meant babychips was up at 2am and didn’t settle
For ages as he was too scared

So so tired today

NoWordForFluffy · 12/08/2019 17:18

I bet you're ready for bed, Chips!

Poetry, I'd say start small maybe (I didn't, I did massive birth samplers for my niece and nephew as my first ones!). You'll get a sense as to whether you enjoy it then. You can get some nice small ones on eBay.

I'm not sure about the allotment. I'm thinking it's going to be my 'luxury' plot in a way and I'll have a lovely wildflower area plus a small pond (washing up bowl small!).

Then I'll space stuff out better next year as I've been cramped this year. I'll do more sweetcorn and I'm doing baby corn too next year. We shall see once it's clear and I can see the space.

Crazy, your holiday sounds brilliant. And you're right about the allotment; it's just a lot of work to start with! DH has made a start today as there's a skip on site, so he's cleared everything he can into that. It's not officially ours yet, but should be soon enough.

I had visual disturbance earlier. I stopped the migraine with paracetamol, codeine and Naproxen, but have been left with a sicky headache. So I left work half an hour early as I'd had enough by then!

I hope everyone has had a good day.

Hope all are fine enjoy your evening everyone Smile

IAintWroteNoPoetry · 12/08/2019 21:17

Chips I hope you sleep better tonightFlowers

Fluffy it’s my birthday later this month, so with my birthday money I will get one. I’d like to do something a bit crafty, I might do something for DS’s nursery. Your idea for the allotment sounds gorgeous, I hope we see pictures when it’s all up and ready. I hope you’re feeling betterFlowers

Mrs we had a great night!. They’ve only just left, they’ll be back around tomorrow. They’re all single lads so they come over to ours because they get fed😂.

We’ve finally got our shortlist, our actual one this time!. We’ve narrowed it down to 3 names we like for our DS. I think we might just draw from a hat.

EmrysAtticus · 12/08/2019 21:20

Fluffy we have built a raised bed and I now have the 'veg in one bed' book which I intend to follow next year. However I am not a fan of broad beans, beetroot or spinach. Are there veg I could use instead of those? They would need to be sown and harvested in the same time periods as those veg to avoid messing with the overall growing system.

Morning!

Well, I'm glad I feel better this morning! I felt so 🤮 last night; my stomach was like a washing machine. And my head was pounding. So I went to bed just after 9pm and managed just under 8 hours sleep. I still have the shadow of the migraine, but it's bette than it was!

Poetry, make the most of those visits, as I doubt they'll happen when baby is tiny and you're utterly exhausted! You're clearly more sociable and generous than me as I can't think of anything worse than being visited every single day by a bunch of single blokes AND spending money feeding them! 😂 Or maybe it's that you're a lot younger and less grumpy than me (though it's not something I'd have ever enjoyed I don't think!).

What's the sowing period, Emrys? To get the best out of a plot it's good to put stuff in as you take other stuff out. Maximise yield for the space. What else is already in the bed? (I'm afraid I don't follow rules, and plant stuff whenever I like, so I'm not much cop on when things 'should' be sown!)

Looks like it might be nice today. Fingers crossed!

Morning. I’m taking my 3.5 year old and my 21 month old to the dentist this morning - solo. What could possibly go wrong?!

NoWordForFluffy · 13/08/2019 09:49

Everything! Take a buggy to keep the 'spare' child tethered.

NerosFiddle · 13/08/2019 12:09

Morning all.

I'm stuck in waiting on my sofa to arrive. We got a new one a few weeks ago but it was busted so I'm getting a replacement.

July hope the appointment went well. I make sure I don't do it on my own.

Got my Tesco order this morning and I've got my port for Christmas.

IAintWroteNoPoetry · 13/08/2019 13:33

Afternoon everyone,

Fluffy we’ve all known each other since high school, I don’t think we’ve gone more than a week without seeing each other since then. To be fair to them, they do pay for their food, I just cook it for themGrin. I’m glad you’re feeling better this morning.

Good luck! Christmas

The weather is lovely again here, but the forecast keeps changing. Yesterday it was rain all week and now it’s sun all week.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/08/2019 13:40

I definitely wouldn't spend time with people I went to school with! Or not many of them. Are you still quite young?

Like I said, I'm not sociable particularly and my job is rather intense so I prefer not to talk in the evening unless I have to! 😂

I'm actually still feeling sick on and off. Maybe I have a bug?

OP posts:
IAintWroteNoPoetry · 13/08/2019 14:04

Not that young, we’re in our 20s. We went through college and uni together so it just seems natural to always be together. I’m very sociable, I go insane when I’m on my own😂.

3 people have been off work this week with a bug. It might be that. Bloody horrible if it is one.
