Mrs, I think we may actually be certifiably insane taking on a second plot, but there you go! 😂

I'm glad your mum appears to be improving. Flowers

Woolly, neither of us are arsed about football, but DS has picked up on red being for Liverpool at school. It's quite funny!

CiJ - I agree with Woolly re getting organised. I asked at the start of every new term so I knew the dates to book. It's sensible.

I love a bit of poncing (Mrs, it's crafting in some way), Neros, as does Woolly!

Champagne, welcome!

Side, well done on sorting the final advent calendar!

Emrys, I hate being woken by the kids. It's thankfully bloody rare these days. We went through enough years of it to have had more than our share, I can tell you! 💤

Fluffy l think you are relishing the challenge Grin well done to you both!
Ahh right..... thank you re the poncing. l must have a look at the thread. Thank you re Mum as well [smile, have installed a camera in the front room in full view of everyone , l don't eavesdrop just pop in to check on her if l can't get her to answer the phone cos she can't hear it Smile so l can check on her and the visitors have just gone after nearly 4 hours ! I am so pleased for her it gets her out of herself and the sadness over Dad Smile

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/08/2019 19:24

Wow Fluffy 2 allotments is practically a smallholding 😂

MrsMad the Poncetastic thread starts on 25 September and covers everything from food (cooked from scratch obviously 😂) to all things knitted, crocheted and sewn plus tasteful decorations.

Chips my DC sulk if I do anything other than chocolates in our advent calendar. They like nice chocolate though so it's something I can delegate to DH as he always has a trip to Belgium in the late autumn.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/08/2019 19:54

@TheWoollybacksWife, I can see a post of yours in the TIO link, but it's not here. Confused About two allotments being almost a small holding. That's all I can see though!

My MiL asked if I was intending on setting up a market garden or something. Grin

The Chair of the committee (did I tell you I'm now on the committee?!) hasn't confirmed that I've got the plot yet, so it may go to someone further up the list than me. I'd only want that plot though, as it's so convenient!

It's August, nearly time for the Good Housekeeping Get Ahead for Christmas magazine, so I am allowing myself to start getting excited Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 05/08/2019 20:15

I can see it now. Odd.

Woolly thank you for the info for the poncy thread l will have to infiltrate it Grin
Fluffy , you are on the Committee ! Brilliant Grin That has reminded me of the awful but nostalgic TV show The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club where Bernard Manning would take the mick out of Colin Compton and say 'On behalf of the Committee' ignore me l am reminiscing Grin
Chips , l am stealing the Lego Star wars one thank you m'dear Flowers

sideorderofchips · 05/08/2019 22:13

@mrsmadevans

Amazon!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/08/2019 22:26

I found my last years copy f the Good Housekeeping Get Ahead magazine and read it in the bath on Saturday .

I think this year I'll buy:

Good Housekeeping Christmas issue (usually comes out in Nov)
Maybe the Sainsbury Magazine (there will be money off vouchers and some things instore that I would overlook otherwise)

I tend to cook the same things every year , but I look out for a vegetarian nut roast and maybe sample one ahead of the Big Day . (Last year Aldi did one , frozen. It had carrot and cashews . Crunchy , not too sweet . Really nice)

ChristmasInJuly · 05/08/2019 22:34

Woolly that’s great advice, I will dilute the crazy by asking for dates “for the Autumn term”.
Imagine if he was Joseph though... Grin

sideorderofchips · 05/08/2019 22:47

I might buy a Christmas magazine this year

everythingisginandroses · 05/08/2019 23:23

Mrsmadevans, no, I was on Christmas threads last year, just don't post very much.

ChampagneBuffet · 05/08/2019 23:36

Thanks for the welcome everyone!.
God today’s been a busy day...Dsis1 cut her knee open going down the hill on her scooter, we’ve only got home from the hospital an hour ago, she’s had to have it glued up. She can’t play football for a few weeks, which is her hobby, so she will go insane..we’re just thankful it happened in the 6 weeks.
I hope you don’t mind me telling you all a bit about myself, just because it may get confusing if I don’t. I have 1 DS who turned 2 last month, I’m due our 2nd child 1st Jan (we might have Christmas baby!) but I also have parental responsibility of my 2 Dsis who are 10 and 7. I don’t want to seem as if I’m over sharing, but thought I’d clear it up in case anyone gets confused when I talk about Dsis.

Morning!

I'll have to see with the Christmas mags this year. I doubt they'll be much different from the multitude I got last year!

Though a good freebie will tempt me. 😂 The Sainsbury's one is a good shout, 70, however. I use them anyway, so would make sense. Do you know when it tends to come out?

Your life sounds busy, Champagne!

NerosFiddle · 06/08/2019 09:44

Morning all.

Waiting on my Tesco order coming so I can get some baking done today.

I'll probably keep buying the magazines, even though they are all essentially the same. I love reading through them on a cold night with a glass of something.

ChampagneBuffet · 06/08/2019 11:12

I’ll still be buying magazines. I tell myself every year that nothing will have changed but I can’t help myself. Just like you neros I love reading them on a cold night.

Fluffy it is very busy, I wouldn’t change it though. DH and I had a weekend spa getaway last year and after a few hours I was going insane. I like to be busy.

There’s no plans for us today, Dsis can’t do much so we will probably do some arts and crafts in the house.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/08/2019 13:21

Oh, I'll still end up buying the bloody things. In fact, I've just remembered that I have a Good Food subscription starting soon. My MiL is getting a GH subscription for her birthday, so I'll get the Christmas one from her. I'm a sucker for them!

20 weeks til Christmas Eve, my favourite day of the year!

Mrsmadevans · 06/08/2019 17:26

Have been to Cwmbran today with DH , put flowers on my friends memorial at the crem. l like to go every week. I know it sounds maudlin but it gives me comfort. I haven't bought much today except a bottle of Beyonce Pulse 75mls for £3.49 from TKMax, not smelled it before but it is lovely . For the first time ever l saw Jo Malone perfume for 79.99 they were 100mls Red Roses cologne & 100 mls Blackberry & Bay cologne. I know they are beautiful but l looked at the box and l just thought NO. Very restrained of me Grin
I don't buy mags , l look at the online from my library , l forget to look at them half the time Hmm
Am thinking how hard the emergency crews worked to save the Whaley Bridge Dam , thank God and give them all a medal . They have been absolute heroes.

Heather01920 · 06/08/2019 20:05

@NoWordForFluffy

I believe the December edition of the Sainsbury's magazine will be out on 04/12/2019. In the December 2018 edition, one of the free gifts was a 2019 calendar with a recipe for each month. Among the usual listing of bank holidays, Easter, St George's Day and so on, each month the calendar informs you what date each month the magazine for that month is out. I've just skipped through to December and it's listing 04/12/2019.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/08/2019 20:10

Thanks, Heather. I'll keep my eyes peeled!

Well done on being restrained, Mrs. 😂

I hadn't seen that they've saved the dam. Thank god!
