Evening all.

Atticus those blackberries look good. Can't believe it's blackberry time already.

Crazy enjoy your holiday.

Mrs that's great news re. your friend. It took 5 years for us to have our first DS so I know a bit of what she went through.

It's been day two of potty training. It's clicked for doing number 2s (sorry tmi) but not peeing yet.

NerosFiddle · 30/07/2019 19:58

Welcome back mummy

NoWordForFluffy · 30/07/2019 20:46

Evening!

Welcome back Mummy (I don't recall you, sorry, but I've been drugged up / in agony for most of the last year, so it's not personal!).

Welcome to anyone I've missed.

I'm knackered. We managed to time our activities well today and walked to Walla Crag. I think it's about 4.5 miles. It was stunning! I've got slightly burned shoulders!

We then went to the Old Keswickian for our chippy dinner, which was deserved and awesome!

We've been to Booths twice already. We may make it three before we go home!

Neros if you don’t mind me asking, how old is your DC?. I don’t know whether to start potty training yet?.

No worries FluffyGrin, It must’ve been about 2 years ago maybe more and I was only on for a month or so. Hopefully you aren’t in agony anymore. It looks gorgeous where you are.

Mrsmadevans · 30/07/2019 22:06

Welcome Mummy, l am afraid l don't remember you either but l have the same reason as Fluffy , mucho pain relief drugs making me woozy , drowsy and forgetful Grin Fluffy knows the feeling only too well Grin.
Nero Thank you for the congrats re my friends pregnancy Smile well done re the potty training m'dear l think you have cracked it .
Beautiful views Fluffy and a very well deserved fish & chip tea yay!!

NerosFiddle · 30/07/2019 22:25

Mrs I hope he has it cracked and I haven't pushed him into something he wasn't ready for.
Mummy he's going to be 3 on Halloween. What age is yours?
Fluffy I'm so jealous of your trips to Booths. As soon as their Christmas book is out I'm getting by sil to send it over.

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/07/2019 22:54

Hello all. Catching up with everyone's posts - sorry if I miss anyone.

MrsMad - my condolences on the loss of your friend but lovely news about the pregnancy.

Fluffy have a great time in the lakes. SIL was in Keswick over the weekend and her photos are decidedly damp. She was camping though.

Neros my 3 were all 2.5+ when they potty trained. I was getting grief from my child minder and nursery about it but I did it when I felt they were ready

Emrys I miss our apple tree from our old house. This time of year we would have a bumper harvest and I'd spend a couple of days peeling, chopping and stewing them. We'd normally have enough in the freezer to do an apple crumble after Sunday lunch throughout the autumn and winter.

Chips DD1 got sunburned on one arm last week and aloe vera gel sorted her out. I hope you didn't suffer for too long.

DH and I are off to Dublin for a couple of days next week. Only plans so far are the Guinness tour and possibly the Jameson's distillery tour. I sense a theme...

MummyMcCracken · 30/07/2019 23:21

Mrs don’t worry, coming to think of it it might not have even been this thread..it might have been netmumsBlush

Neros he’s just gone 2 so still quite little and I know boys are usually later than girls when it comes to potty training but he seems to be ready

MummyMcCracken · 30/07/2019 23:24

Wooly I love Dublin! I went all the time as a kid, my parents are from near there. I haven’t been back in years.

EmrysAtticus · 31/07/2019 06:38

crazy they are by NISV. Absolutely millions of the things. The apple tree is by the Aldi just next to NISV

They are finishing the house opposite me (I live on a new development) and they start work at 7:30. I don't need an alarm 🤦🏻‍♀️. Today they are dismantling the scaffolding and I can still hear their radio over the bit of kit they use to take the bolts out.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/07/2019 08:14

I didn't know they were still building there, Woolly. How big is the estate? It's weird seeing houses there and the roundabout on WL still takes me by surprise a bit!

It's been raining loads overnight and is set to rain all day potentially. We'll have a lazy morning after yesterday's adventures and go to a local wood if it's dry after lunch.

With regards potty training, both of ours were 3 before they got it. My best advice is if you try it and they don't get it in 2 days, shelve it for a while. All you'll do is get everyone upset and frustrated. If they don't get it that quickly, they're just not ready, even if they're showing some signs!

Enjoy Dublin, Woolly. It's so expensive there, but lovely!

I'd love an apple tree. Hopefully my allotment one will do well in years to come!

NerosFiddle · 31/07/2019 08:43

Woolly I was thinking of taking a day trip to Dublin next week too. Although it'll be a slightly different trip consisting of the zoo.

Fluffy you're right. If he doesn't seem to be getting it today I'll go back to nappies and try again next month or the following.

Mummy you could try training and if it doesn't work try again.

TheWoollybacksWife · 31/07/2019 09:39

I love a good zoo Neros. Unfortunately it's just DH and I that are going and I think he'd think I'd lost the plot if I asked to go to the zoo 😂

We are only the first phase Fluffy. I think there will be upwards of 1500 houses all told. Plus primary schools and a secondary school. I don't think building is scheduled to be done for another decade. I really hope we get a pub - there is supposed to be a community centre, a health centre and a parade of shops but they are a few years off yet. We are even getting a junction with the A road.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/07/2019 09:43

Oh wow, that is big, Woolly. That A road junction will be helpful. I'm trying to think how that will work, but can't quite picture it. It'll all become clear! 😂

There's a dearth of decent pubs up that way. The ones on the IL are a bit 'local pubs for local people' from what I know!

Good Morning everyone, I hope you’re all having great days and I hope the whether is a bit better wherever you are than where it is by me.

Bloody hell Wooly that’s a big plot!. It sounds great though, like there’d be a nice community spirit. Shame about the noise.

Fluffy rain over here too, well it’s calmed down now but still grey. It’s lovely and autumnal though. My mum and nan are popping in for tea tonight so I might make some soup and really pump up the winter vibes!.

Thanks for the advice re potty training. I’m usually of the ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ club, he’s still in a cot as he hasn’t tried to climb out and is pretty content in there, so I’m not sure why I want him trained so soon. My mum says I was 18 months old when I was potty trained so keeps pressuring me to crack on with it so I think that’s giving me the nudge. I’ll do as you say Fluffy and try for two days and then see how that goes.

No big plans for us today. We’ll most likely have a walk into town later on in the afternoon and grab some shopping, maybe get lunch in town too. And then we’ll probably snuggle down with a cuppa and a film later tonight. I sort of hope the weather stays like this as it’s so cosy.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/07/2019 18:30

Ooh, Selfridges is on our wavelength (sorry it's the Sun!): www.thesun.co.uk/money/9611772/selfridges-christmas-shop-149-days-early/

We ended up popping to Cockermouth this afternoon, just for an hour or so. It's currently dry, so hopefully it lasts!

Morning!

It's our first sunny morning today! We're climbing another hill today, so I'm glad it's nice weather. We've not done too badly really, and all the rain means Aira Force will be amazing at the weekend!

I'm looking forward to being back in my own bed, I have to say. And just having our stuff around us! Xmas Grin Not long now.

I'm so envious of those that are done present buying! My family insist on swapping lists bit refuse to do it before the end of November so there is a limit to how organised I can be :(

NoWordForFluffy · 01/08/2019 08:09

DS has been very forthcoming recently, Emrys, which has been rather helpful!

DD is holding back, but I can cope with that! 😁

MummyMcCracken · 01/08/2019 09:25

Fluffy I’m glad the weathers being good for you, I must say we aren’t having the best summer, especially compared to last year. Even when it’s hot it’s too hot. I hope you all have fun climbing your hill.

Emrys I haven’t started yet, I only buy for my very close family, I used to buy for everyone but my parents and all my grandparents are divorced so I have step family everywhere and all of my grandparents are 1 of 8 so there’s hundreds of us. Now I just buy for DM, DN, DF, DSM, DS and my siblings. It’s much nicer that way and everyone else that I don’t buy for are just happy that they don’t have to buy for me and DS as it saves them money.

Again not much planned today, we’ll go to the park at least but we do that most days to get out the house because we don’t have a garden. We’re going to Liverpool for a few nights next week, I love the Beatles, that much that I named my son after one of them, so we’ll be having a look at the museum and go to the cavern club and other things. I’m hoping the weather is decent for that.
