New month coincides with the need for a new thread!

The last one kept us going for over 2 months, so let's see how we do this time!

MrsMad I hope yesterday went well and that you gave your DDad the send-off that you wanted. Thinking of your and your DM especially today.

Mrsmadevans · 10/04/2019 13:26

Afternoon everyone Smile
It is a beautiful sunny day here and l feel like l am slowly coming back to a sort of normality. The funeral and wake went very well despite my reservations over the Funeral service, it was so OTT compared to what my Dad would have wanted but l had no say in it and it was fine even though l felt resentful about his wishes not being followed . Dad is buried in St Edmunds Churchyard Crickhowell and surrounded by so many friends and relatives he grew up with. It gives me great comfort to see him there with them , where he belonged almost . I was amazed at the turnout for Dad there must have been 150 people there and 120 at the wake and l am not exaggerating. There was such an outpouring of love and respect for him. l was so moved by them all taking time out to pay their respects it was so good of them . I want to start going back to normal life and posting . Before l do l so, l wanted to thank you for your lovely comments and kindness and support , we may never meet in real life but l want you to know you have made a difference to me Smile Flowers

Just changed our duvet cover for a rabbit duvet for Easter 😊

NoWordForFluffy · 10/04/2019 17:36

That sounds like a cheerful duvet cover, Mrs. 😁

I'm glad yesterday was better than you'd anticipated. It must have been so comforting seeing the number of people celebrating your Dad's life. ♥️ Clearly many people loved him, and hopefully you can take solace from that.

We've been up Holme Fell today. It was lovely, if a bit chilly at the top!

We had a lovely pint by Windermere on the way home too. Grin

Hi all. I've just read back through the thread. Thanks for all the ideas for my little crochet odds and ends. Woolly I think I'm going to go with your idea as a friend has asked for a crochet Christmas wreath from me. I can't believe I didn't think of that myself!

If you're ever visiting your family here, make sure you let us know 👍🏻

Cish you're so organised! And what a lovely present - I had a dolls house too (although I evicted the dolls and used it for my Forever Friends bear family 😂).

Apart from the wreath for my friend I have no plans for Christmas presents yet.

Lovely pics Fluffy. How old are your dc? There's no way my 8 year old nephew would walk that - we took him up the Sugar Loaf here once (mountain but a perfectly manageable one) and he did nothing but moan that his feet / legs / back / ears hurt 🙄

MrsMad Welcome back to the thread. I'm slightly envious that you get to put seasonal bedding on - DH would have a right moan if I did that I don't even own Christmas bedding

I'm so glad the funeral went so well. I hope the turn out gave you some comfort - people are generally busy these days so taking their time to show their respects shows how much he meant to them 💐

NoWordForFluffy · 10/04/2019 20:43

Crazy, they're 4 and 5 (5 and 6 in July / June). It can take a fair amount of cajoling and regular snacks, but they do enjoy it really! There are some whinging moments, but not too many, thankfully.

We're going to do loads more walking on holiday in July too, as long as the weather is kind.

I have to say that having NT membership is so worth it. We'd have spent £26 on car parks alone without it this week, plus another £30.00 on getting into Sizergh. I much prefer to pay our £10.50 per month and be done with! We must've almost 'spent' the year's worth of fees since the start of the year.

I've not looked at Christmas yet either. I need to wait this year as they'll have strong ideas themselves, I'd think.

Hi all, don’t usually come back until August/September but friend sent me to the Next Clearance section today - lots of Xmas clothing for women, men and kids all at really good prices.

Morning!

Another lovely sunny day today after a chilly night. My seedlings will be happy!

The IT bods are bringing my chair, computer etc today which is fun. My desk is in our room, so not ideal for my colleagues' visit! 😂😂

It was nice to be in our own beds last night, I have to say. 😁

Natural, I got DS' Christmas jumper for the next 2 years in the Next sale!

Hey everyone, I’ve been scouring the Christmas threads over the past few days as I’m having a Christmas baby 👶🏻 🎄 and I came across this, any chance that I could join in for a good natter?

TheWoollybacksWife · 11/04/2019 10:38

Of course you can @lordofthefries We are pretty quiet on the Christmas front at the moment though but we countdown every day. Will this be your first baby? I've got 2 adult daughters and a senior school age son so no tiptoeing round on Christmas Eve anymore here. Have you seen the bargain thread (that one ticks over through the year and then moves VERY quickly after the summer holidays) and the Poncetastic threads? The Poncetastic thread starts in September each year and covers things like Christmas crafts, homemade gifts and cooking. It's one of my favourites.

lordofthefries · 11/04/2019 10:43

@TheWoollybacksWife I guessed that you would be quiet, people who want to think about Christmas are few and far between at this time of year.

This is my second, DS is 2 next Friday, so when this one comes along he’ll just be starting to understand Christmas.

I’ve seen the bargain threads-they’ll come in handy this year with having to buy all the baby stuff. I haven’t seen the poncetastic one though, it sounds fantastic, I’ll hop on board with that as it might give me an idea of things to do with the little man

CishAndFips · 11/04/2019 13:37

fluffy i love that first night in your own bed after a holiday.
lordofthefries welcome and congratulations.
Well we have finished our last holiday club and it went really well. DD is having a nap and DS is playing on his xbox. Im just having a quick tidy up and then im going to sit down with a nice brew before we go to my parents for dinner at 4ish.

The 2019 ChristmasThreadBaby Xmas Grin

fries has taken one for the team Xmas Wink

(There's always a load of prompting and prodding at who is going to have the CTB . Some posters are No no no, got my hands full already others are That ship has long sailed . I am in the Long Sailed Camp )

20 years ago I was in the same boat , incubating my DS and dreaming of Christmas Babies .
(Now the DS is a complete Bah Humbug when it comes to Christmas , I question where I went wrong At least my DD (16) shares the Christmas obsession)

NerosFiddle · 11/04/2019 20:57

Evening all.

Lordoffries when are you due? My dd is a Christmas baby, she'll be 2 on 18th December.

Fluffy when do you start working from home?

NoWordForFluffy · 11/04/2019 21:10

Monday, Neros. I'm dreading my task list / email inbox, TBH.

Hi fries! Good to see the annual discussion as to who should take one for the team this year isn't needed! 😂

lordofthefries · 12/04/2019 00:54

@CishAndFips Thank you😊

@70isaLimitNotaTarget Your DS sounds like my DH, he loves Christmas but doesn’t like talking about it until December-which I can’t stand. My DM is a Christmas fanatic like me though, thank the Lord, I’d have nobody to talk to without her.

@NerosFiddle I’m due on the 2nd, but if this one is anything like my DS they will come a lot later.

@NoWordForFluffy I feel very important now having the Christmas thread baby😂

I’m sorry for such a late post, not that it’ll wake any one up. DH has to listen to mediation to get him to sleep and It’s just randomly started playing and woke me and DS up, so I’m trying to get him back to bed

Morning all.

It's my anniversary today, so I'm looking forward to having a takeaway and a glass of champagne tonight. But before that I have to do a bit of shopping.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/04/2019 10:25

Happy anniversary, Neros!

We're travelling down to my parents' today. Thankfully it's a nice day for a drive.

We're stopping at Shugborough Hall on the way so the kids can run around and we can have a picnic lunch. I do love a nice convenient NT stop off! 😁

lordofthefries · 12/04/2019 20:45

@NerosFiddle Happy Anniversary, a takeaway and champagne sounds perfect. We’re having Chinese tonight, so I’m half way there😊🥂

@NoWordForFluffy Where are you?, I love a picnic lunch. I try and take my DS out for one as often as possible, it’s all for me though😉

I’m coming down with a bit of a cold, so I think it will be an early night for me tongight

Mrsmadevans · 12/04/2019 23:39

Evening everyone 😊
Fluffy your plans sound lovely hope you enjoyed yourselves 😎😀

Morning!

We're having a nice time, thank you Mrs. Your bedding is lovely.

Sorry you're feeling the strain with your mum, especially with your sister being unsupportive.

Fries, we live in the NW but are visiting family in the Midlands at the moment (as well as a little meet up with Woolly last night!).

I've just remembered that the seedlings we've brought down for my parents were left in the boot overnight. Hopefully they've survived. Slight fail! 🙈

Mrs sorry that your sister is being hateful. It must be very painful for you. Thanks

Fluffy how lovely that you had another meet.

If any of you ever find yourself in NI let me know.

Lord boo for the cold. Everyone seems to be getting sickness bugs one after the other. I blame the weather. It's been so changeable from one day to the next.

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/04/2019 10:10

Morning. It was lovely to meet Fluffy last night.

Today is DD1's birthday so I was up at sparrow fart making cinnamon buns for breakfast.

MrsMad it is hard for you. I'm not surprised that it is being left to you and yours to ease your mum's loss while dealing with your own. She's lucky to have you. Thanks

lordofthefries · 13/04/2019 13:53

@Mrsmadevans I’m sorry that your sister is being so unsupportive, but what a lovely daughter you are to be looking after your mum so well. I hope everything gets a little easier soon. I really like your bedding too.

@NoWordForFluffy Your pictures look great. It’s great that you’re meeting with people from this group, it’s nice to finally meet some good friends.

@NerosFiddle The weather is 100% playing a part in my cold. One minute I’m walking around with just a T-shirt on and the next its tipping it down with rain.

@TheWoollybacksWife Happy Birthday to your DD.

My DM is coming over today, so am getting dinner ready for everyone. The smell is making me sick
