Christmas friends, I can't wait any longer...I am putting them up. I have mulled wine, carols on and a mince pie. DH is putting the outside lights up just irritate the bah humbug neighbour next door. Grin

Decorations go up on 1st December here but the radio in the kitchen is already tuned to Heart Extra Christmas Grin

Looking forward to relaxing a bit in December this year and enjoying the festivities instead of panicking about Christmas shopping because for the first year EVER, I have pretty much finished my Christmas shopping.

Your tree looks great OP, Merry Christmas!

fleshmarketclose · 10/11/2018 18:44

The first tree I saw up this year was the Friday before Halloween so October 26th Shock It seems to have caught on as the four houses on that row are all fully trimmed up now. It's not for me, I hate Christmas decorations and suffer them for a week max but if it makes you happy then crack on and enjoy OP.

krazyinlove · 10/11/2018 19:19

@Therunecaster
Stop it now Shock

tinytemper66 · 10/11/2018 19:23

No decorations or tree up as I do think (for me) it is too early but I have wrapped two presents and written my cards!

BroomstickOfLove · 10/11/2018 19:33

I put mine up ages ago, and to be honest, the house is starting to feel a bit too cluttered, and I'm getting sick of mince pies and mulled wine and craving something a bit healthier. So it's all going down next weekend, and I'll give the house a good clean and start a diet and Couch to 5k. I expect that towards the end of December ember, I'll want something to lighten the gloom a bit, so I'll start putting up some decisions to look forward to the spring - a daffodil and snowdrop wreath, and egg and bunny decorations, and I'm sure that I'll make room in my diet for a fee Easter eggs, as they should be coming into the shops by then.

EdWinchester · 10/11/2018 19:41

Nooo! Aren't you utterly sick of it by December 1st? Doesn't it make it less special? It's not Christmas yet, not remotely.

We are having a party here on December 15th and our trees will be up that day, even though that's a week too early for me!

Therunecaster · 10/11/2018 20:25

You are all so funny!

Merry Christmas OP!

Little bit jealous! Ours are going up last weekend of November, but no tinsel in our house, eldest DD is allergic to it!

nottakingthisanymore · 11/11/2018 13:12

Love Christmas but to me it would lose the specialness if I put decorations up now.

Birdie6 · 11/11/2018 13:23

My SIL announced that they'd put theirs up today - with pictures on Facebook. My DH sent her a firm message saying that he was spending today remembering his grandfather who died in the War. I didn't blame him - putting up a Christmas Tree on Remembrance Day was pretty tacky in my opinion.

VenusInSpurs · 11/11/2018 13:27

I have just left ours up from last year. We get the maximum excitement and benefit and it saves time.

Gingerivy · 11/11/2018 13:31

You may feel it's tacky. Others may not.

For us, Christmas is about family, so it wouldn't bother me a bit. Of course, I don't have any issue with when people put up their decorations - it's all a matter of personal choice.

Our tree has been up for a while, but if we had put it up today, well, so what? It doesn't mean that we don't respect or remember relatives who died in the War.

TheCountryGirl · 11/11/2018 14:22

Birdie your DH sounds insufferable.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/11/2018 14:27

Unfucking believable. I honestly don't understand this at all.

loveliesbleeding1 · 11/11/2018 14:57

I think mine will go up around 10th December I think I would be sick to death of them if they went up any sooner.

chillpizza · 11/11/2018 15:27

Ours came out the loft yesterday but won’t up till the last weekend of November. Well apart from the kitchen window lights and garden lights that’s never came down last year [santa]

Alexandra2018 · 11/11/2018 15:58

I'm dying to get my stuff up

BexleyRae · 11/11/2018 16:06

My tree might be going up next weekend if I can convince DP. He's been a bit grumpy (neighbours boasting about what they can afford) so a tree might cheer him up

WhatFreshHellisCis · 11/11/2018 16:13

Demented

WheelchairWoes · 11/11/2018 16:17

Your photos are all gorgeous!! Here's a good link for everyone including the naysayers!

Scientists say people who put up decorations early are happier

People who put up decorations early are happier! So put up your decorations, enjoy the memories and ignore people who are poking their nose in the Christmas section and throwing a fit because of early deocrators

WheelchairWoes · 11/11/2018 16:19

Gingerivy your tree is very pretty and looks so nice and clean! Mine is all a mishmash of decorations haha

QueenOfIce · 11/11/2018 16:20

I want to put mine up now! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎅🏻 I need a mulled wine emoji.
