I think I may be just very early, but I need to know!

For DH I am getting:
Sunderland FC tickets (he rarely gets chance to go these days)
Peaky Blinders dark spiced rum
Some boxers (his need seriously updating)
An electronics case (for all his wires and stuff, it drives me up the wall)
After shave

Why would you subject your poor DH to Sunderland tickets!!

Corfu06 · 30/10/2018 07:50

@JingaMahBucket it was about £6 from boots. Came with a comb and a small bottle of shampoo as well.

Corfu06 · 30/10/2018 07:57

Oops I meant @JingsMahBalls

Corfu06 · 30/10/2018 07:58

Ahhh @JingsMahBucket 😂

IggyAce · 30/10/2018 08:17

The wallet ninja went down well last year, so thanks for the suggestion mn.
I always struggle to think of a present for my GF who is in his 80s, so far he has a tin of shortbread. I will probably end up getting him a gift voucher. I’m open to suggestions he like model railways, National Trust member, is fit and active and still goes camping.

If anyone has a serious amateur photographer I can recommend the HoldFast money maker camera harness.

JingsMahBucket · 30/10/2018 08:30

@Corfu06 OMG I’m rolling with laughter!! 😂

Acunningruse · 30/10/2018 09:49

I'm getting mine

Bag of toblerone chocs
Totes slipper socks
More mile Running socks
Running gloves
5 pack gift set of nuts and seeds from Wyldsson
Book written by marathon runner (anyone sensing theme here)
Dadmin hoodie (use HAPPY) for 10% off
Gift box local ales

pinkandstripey · 30/10/2018 10:06

The cable/gadget organisers are called grid it. The most useful present I gave last year - to my commuter dp and my 2 long-haul holidays a year parents. We also bought ourselves one for use in the cupboard. Brilliant thing.

IggyAce if he likes real trains too you can often get driver experience days on heritage railways or just tickets for a day out. Not sure if he'd be into that or if it's within your budget though.

pouraglasshalffull · 30/10/2018 12:49

Raglansleeve Thank you for that idea! My dad was actually saying he just needs a BBQ now, never even entered my mind as a gift!

JingsMahBucket Articulate, Mr and Mrs, Trivial Pursuit. If you go on Amazon they have loads and reviews too

CurbsideProphet · 01/11/2018 20:45

@bluesky I was just looking at Pact Coffee. Are the prices per month?

FrangelicoCandyBoughs · 02/11/2018 00:58

I’m getting DH some blu-rays, a sausage dog hand warmer, chillys water bottle, a bonsai tree kit (he’s wanted one since he was a child) and some little post it notes that are meant to help him remember things (he always forgets).

BangingOn · 02/11/2018 06:48

Thankfully DH actually needs something this year- a new iPad as his is ancient and won’t take the new software updated. That means an easy big present plus a case and cover. To go with it I will get him a subscription to What Car and probably a nice top from All Saints or similar.

bluesky · 02/11/2018 10:26

@curbsideprophet
depends on the subscription I imagine, we have a bag a month that costs approx £5 or £6.95.

CorpseBridezilla2be · 02/11/2018 10:50

@JingsMahBucket

gift certificate to a big and tall men’s shop (online). Anyone have ideas for this?

Depends on your budget/his style but Next and Marks and Spencer’s both do big and tall clothing and deliver outside of the uk. Ralph Lauren is good too if you have the budget for it.

ladybee28 · 02/11/2018 11:11

Last year I made DP a jar of 150 tiny envelopes with an oddball reason why I love him in each. Took me freaking ages and he loved it more than anything else I got him –it's still not empty as he's made it last all year!

Am now totally stumped on how in the world to equal it, as he's made it clear that homemade and mushy trumps 'bought' and 'useful'....

CurbsideProphet · 02/11/2018 11:58

I love that @ladybee28 Smile I might create a jar of IOUs.

BreadAndButterDreamer · 02/11/2018 12:02

I’m after a novelty bath duck for my husband if anyone has seen one?! 😂 not a massive one

ladybee28 · 02/11/2018 13:57

@CurbsideProphet I actually really enjoyed doing it – it made me look out for things I loved about him to find more things to put in the envelopes, and by the end of the month and a half it took me to do I felt like a goofy-eyed teenager with a crush again!

Trick is to balance comedy with heart – so it's not excessively smushy and clichéd... otherwise it's just a jar of barf Grin

IOUs could be really fun – you've got me thinking now....!

Ladydepp · 03/11/2018 23:07

I suggested this last year but wooden nose specs holder was a (cheap!) winner here.

Other ideas:

Peter crouch football book
Really nice wooden shoe trees
Book about local history (could be just my DH )
Long matches
Trapper hat
Swarfega
Bike light
Fancy gin
Thin travel towel for gym
Fancy manly shower gel - acqua Di Parma is nice
Wood handle grater - microplane
Posh olive oil / vinegar
Pepper grinder
Bbq stuff
Photo frame with family photo

Deminism · 04/11/2018 00:17

I am genuinely getting mine socks. He needs some. But posh ones in snazzy designs in a gift box. Also a stocking full of books etc that I think he’ll like and some sheet music.

MinorProphet · 04/11/2018 17:27

Mine keeps his Amazon wishlist and hobby wishlist bang up to date which makes it easier.

This year my son decided to get my husband a personalised notebook which says his name and an achievement on it - something very outing but basically my husband is a national record holder in an EXTREMELY NICHE activity and my son thought he'd like a notebook with that on! Which was so thoughtful. Vistaprint - about £6 each or something?

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 05/11/2018 18:53

I have a Hotel Chocolat velvetiser Shock

What can I say .. it makes nice hot chocolate very quickly. The ones I've tried from HC taste nice. It 'just' heats and mixes at the same time. Quite frankly I could have nicked a magnetic stirrer from the lab at work.

It looks very cool, definitely has the wow factor - I'm just not sure it's worth it for one cup of hot chocolate.

Koko12 · 05/11/2018 21:38
