My DH is getting

Tickets to see Rhod Gilbert
A Craft beer gift hamper from Honest Brew
A Lindt Selection Box

Probably something boring but useful like pyjamas, a jumper or pants/socks.

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 17/10/2018 15:29

Frazzle, I think I can just beat you on the Christmas/birthday problem. DH is 60 this year in December, so it is Christmas, big birthday, and retirement Shock. A perfect storm present nightmare Grin. Big thing, for all three of us if I can get tickets will be the opera in Milan.
Other stuff- various silly retirement things, mug and the like.
We were in the forces many years ago so relevant cufflinks from the start of his working life - could also be for Christmas.
Aftershave as he wears it every day but seems incapable of buying it for himself.
Chocolates- usually Lindt but sometimes Ferrero RocherSmile
Possibly a kindle as he might actually read a book once retired.

Ryder Cup DVD (only bought when Europe win!)

He is a bit of a nightmare really. The best thing I ever bought was a Zep golf swing analyses. If you have golf loving men to buy for it is great, although a bit expensive.

ItchySeveredFoot · 18/10/2018 13:53

All the men in my family are terrible to buy for! Dp so far is getting a wireless charging station, a voucher for a go in a sensory deprivation tank and some fancy white chocolate cos it's his favourite. Not sure what else yet.
Still need gifts for Dad, Step Dad, Grandad and Bil!

tinyradish · 18/10/2018 14:02

Mine wants some wireless over the headphones (will have to research & find a decent pair... Bose? Sony?) & some evening aftershave.

I'll get a few other bits like a chillys bottle, bottle of whisky or rum & some food gifts. Gymwear is always a good shout for him too.

FilledSoda · 18/10/2018 14:14

So far the Vietnam book , that's it Sad

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 18/10/2018 14:43

DP helpfully has his birthday in December so I need double the ideas!
So far everything I have thought of are very practical so I need some fun stuff too:
Bathrobe
Waterproof Bluetooth speaker
Travel pillow
Super soft towel as he always complains how scratchy the ones at my house are.
Some beard oil and probably a new beard comb as he goes through them at an incredible rate!

Some kind of funny t-shirt. I am intrigued by the Scrum Wars one mentioned by @RuggerHug as DP is a big rugby fan and sounds right up his street...do you have a link please?

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 18/10/2018 14:45

If any of your DP's/DH's are interested in football then have a look at Peter Crouch's autobiography. It's about £13 on Amazon. DH is reading it in the other room and I can hear him chuckling away to himself, he says it's hilarious.

Smellybears · 18/10/2018 20:48

I’m after an ice mold, the large round ones, has anyone seen them please? Husband had one in a whiskey in a fancy bar the other week and decided he now wants one!

Trumpton · 19/10/2018 07:14

Tile wallet and key finder . I got SIL one from John Lewis last year. He has many cars and is always losing his wallet/ keys .
This year the Emma Bridgewater key rack . 15% off with WINTER15.
Sense a theme here ?
Love him to bits !

CaseStudyResearch · 19/10/2018 19:43

This year I’m getting him:

Ancestry DNA kit
New pair of work shoes
Knife block
Framed sketch of our wedding venue
Rugby style jumper/top
3 books
And then some of his favourite chocolates etc.

Previous years I have been successful with:

Laptop bag/briefcase
Boot bag/kit bag for his sport
Various cookery/baking items
Cookbook stand
Rubber razor sharpener

CaseStudyResearch · 19/10/2018 19:45

I’m also tempted to get him a pair of socks with our cats’ faces on Grin

cheeseandcrackers · 19/10/2018 20:35

I don't normally buy until December but this thread inspired me and I'm really pleased with what I have found - robot wars live tickets for DH & ds and matching robot wars t-shirts too.

1122christy · 20/10/2018 09:42

@cheeseandcrackers my hubby and son would love to see robot wars live. I had a quick search but could only see dates for October. But might be looking at the wrong thing. Also Scotland based so hoping they tour up here. Have you got a link please? Thanks

DurtySarf · 20/10/2018 09:53

DH had a birthday recently and I got him cufflinks made from old silver sixpence pieces from the year of his birth. He loves them.

Found them on notonthehighstreet.

cheeseandcrackers · 20/10/2018 11:07

@1122christy here's the link for the tickets I bought for May 2019, can't see any dates in Scotland though

BrisaOtonal · 20/10/2018 15:13

Pastasauce

There are loads of stocking fillers you can get related to guitars. Lots of mugs, fancy pick holders and key rings. Also what about some guitar music books of his favourite bands.

Gettingthereslowly1 · 20/10/2018 15:26

Mummaluelae can I ask where you got your wireless mixing decks from please? They sound like a good idea for DS
