If anyone's in London and anywhere near the Wellcome Collection on the Euston Road (almost opposite Euston Station) I highly recommend a trip to their shop. They have loads of science-y, fun, dare I say slightly geeky gifts and stocking fillers. Eg cardboard models of Brutalist architecture to build, lots of things with the periodic table on ( I bought Dh a power bank for his phone), and the most covetable notebook 'for visual thinkers' which has pages of differently-lined graph-paper grids interspersed with various charts, tables and science-type things.

Blackwells sell some of the Wellcome things online if you google 'Wellcome Collection shop' but the notebooks seem to be on the main Blackwell's site - here
Cheaper than on Amazon and free delivery!

I was pleased today to have thought of the perfect gift for DH. A teasmaid tea making alarms clock! He loves a cup of tea first thing and I obviously don’t always want to get up for him so he can have tea in bed(!) and plus I remember him fondly talking about these a while ago but only just came to me today. He would love it!!

A headlight hat. Other versions available at just about any price you like.
Added bonus will probs need to replace next year. It's a win.
Still could do with more.

I got DH a tile, just as a stocking filler. It's perfect for him as he always loses his keys and phone.

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 23/11/2018 16:58

I have just bought a faraday pouch for his keys.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 23/11/2018 17:23

I've bought DH some socks and gloves (might be from the kids), some pants (bit of a joke between us) and some work shirts. He likes a practical gift Hmm. I've also ordered the new JRR Tolkien book, and we're having a wood burner installed, so might get him a log store too. I was thinking of getting him something cycling related, but it's all starting to get a bit pricey. Especially as the kids want expensive presents this year.

With my parents, we do a £10 limit (so we would spend £10 each on my mum and dad, and they do the same for us), and it's always tricky trying to think of something original, not gimmicky etc for my dad. Any ideas?

fedupandnogin · 25/11/2018 09:46

Are any of you golfers (or have partners that golf)? I'm looking at getting my OH a golf watch (who knew there were such things?!). Either a Garmin Approach S10 or S20. Not too much difference in the price so I don't know what to get/which is better. If anyone knows or could ask their golfing partners, I'd really appreciate it if you could message me. Many thanks.

tryinganewname · 25/11/2018 10:03

I'm trying to get DH a Pikachu Funko POP that was a US Target exclusive. EnvyGrin

ginyogarepeat · 25/11/2018 10:21

This year I've got DH a lovely jacket from a local company that make really decent outdoors clothes. Also wireless Bluetooth headphones, a wallet ninja and some chocolates. That'll be it!

Flooffloof · 25/11/2018 11:42

Is some stuff at shop.kew.org/christmas-2018/gifts-for-him?limit=all

Am thinking about the camping tool thing at £18
Not sure if it's too like a large leatherman (which he already has)

mnahmnah · 25/11/2018 13:33

My golfing DH said all Garmin golf watches are good, not much difference fedupandnogin

frogsbreath · 25/11/2018 13:41

My DH is getting

A Star Trek hoodie from Etsy (it's not as garish as it sounds)
Beard oils
Smart notebook
Fave mint chocs
Knee pads for workshop

lightningstrikes · 25/11/2018 13:46

Mine is getting:

A stocking full of spicy snacks (he's a chilli aficionado) off Amazon
Socks
A new coat from Land's End

fedupandnogin · 26/11/2018 06:43

Thank you @mnahmnah just couldn't work out which to buy or what the difference was between them.

Fakeplasticcheese · 27/11/2018 10:31

Could anyone help me with ideas please - I'm usually good at this but a bit stuck this year.

DB: likes travel, aviation, darts and rock concerts, is a bit of a foodie and generally likes finer things. Recently separated. Budget £50ish but flexible. Not booze (already bought for birthday).

DF: likes jazz, travel, eco stuff, cooking. Lives abroad so must be postable or easy to pack in suitcase. Budget up to £30 x 2 (birthday and Christmas).

Help??!

mnahmnah · 27/11/2018 11:43

Someone recommended the ‘present indicative’ website upthread. It sounds perfect for what you need fakeplasticcheese. Just google it.

ohtheholidays · 27/11/2018 11:46

Fakeplasticcheese For your DB could you buy him something to use when he's traveling? If he travels alot you could pick him something up that makes for a more comfortable journey and something that appeals to the foodie in him in one gift, the On-the Go-coffee presses that are out this year look awesome The bodum one's look particularly good and range from just over £10 up and they have lots of different one's on Amazon.

I love the look of the scratch maps as well,it's basically a map and you can scratch off the places you've been to as you visit them
Not on the high street has some really nice one's
www.notonthehighstreet.com/search?term=world%20scratch%20map&filter[category_id]=15000

They've also got some really nice gifts on there for travelers as well and some lovely leather bound photo albums and journals if your DB likes to take and print up pictures of where he's been and the journals if he likes to jot down his favourite places to eat, best beaches ect whilst he's away.

With your DF would he like a new jazz cd or a book or dvd about the lifes/times of the jazz artists that he likes or with the cooking you might be able to set up a delivery of ingredients for a favourite meal of his or a meal or style of cooking that he'd like to try along with a cook book in that style.

I hope something there helps.

Fakeplasticcheese · 27/11/2018 12:03
