I think I may be just very early, but I need to know!

OP posts:

My husband wants a golf trolley 🙄

Any ideas for something for husband for a first Christmas gift from a baby? I was thinking maybe matching football shirts for his team but that will work out at about £100 and I'm on mat leave 😱

PoesyCherish · 20/10/2018 15:38

I always have to buy DP boxers and socks. Other than that I'm stumped though. I may suggest we just buy a joint present to share.

RuggerHug · 20/10/2018 16:20

@IToldYouIwasFreaky been trying to reply for a few days but the app hates me! I got it from wish, they take a fair few weeks to arrive but it looks good.

@Gettingthereslowly1
Haven't got it yet. Looking on amazon tbh. Hercules ones are meant to be good

pouraglasshalffull · 21/10/2018 11:38

For DH I am getting:
Sunderland FC tickets (he rarely gets chance to go these days)
Peaky Blinders dark spiced rum
Some boxers (his need seriously updating)
An electronics case (for all his wires and stuff, it drives me up the wall)
After shave

I am struggling for my dad though. He recently bought a caravan so I was thinking of getting him something for that, but I have no idea what? Can anyone give me any ideas please?!

catenthusiast · 21/10/2018 12:05

So far my ideas for DH:
A T shirt from truffleshuffle (possibly marvel or star wars)
Pants
Socks
Beard oil
Some posh chocs
Some nicer gym stuff (he's just getting into the gym)
A tie for our cruise next year

Struggling with anything exciting though... He's a tough one to buy for! I did consider a coffee subscription, has anyone had one before? Was it worth it?

StealingYourWiFi · 21/10/2018 18:51

Boptopus minus the whisky I thought you were buying for my DP Grin

I used to buy him Rapha but he now gets it heavily discounted through his work.

My ideas for him:

  • travel packing cubes/gadget organiser
  • limited edition artwork
  • a tshirt by an artist he likes
  • maybe a new wallet
  • Happy Socks

He has a December birthday so will be watching with interest

theymademejoin · 21/10/2018 19:10

@tinyradish - I got bose quietcomfort for dh last year. They are fantastic. Bose QuietComfort 35 (Series II) Wireless Headphones, Noise Cancelling with Amazon Alexa - Black www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0756CYWWD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_PcmZBbB35GYJK?tag=mumsnetforum-21

GinFuzzy · 21/10/2018 19:11

I've just order a subscription to Octane Magazine, 5 issues for £5 and a free tool kit

goose1964 · 21/10/2018 20:00

Mine , rather boringly, get his county cricket membership plus travel every year. On top of that it's just stocking fillers really. I usually get him a tin of mints and whatever else I see, usually books ,glasses, unusual beers. I didn't know there was a new Shardlake book out so that's a possibility, but the danger is that he'll get it for me

UsedtobeGinger · 22/10/2018 20:31

Sixth year running, never fails - tickets for Latitude Festival.
I go too of course!

MissDai5y · 22/10/2018 22:11

I've got mine a bottle of whisky. I bought it in June when baby was due to make sure I had the money as I'm on mat leave.

Still undecided on what dd is going to get him. At 4mths old she's not very helpful yet :)

Bumbumtaloo · 23/10/2018 01:59

I’ve got DH from me and dd’s;
A new amp for his guitar
Pants
Socks
A new wallet
Lynx set (standard joke in our house)
A book of songs to learn on guitar (will post link)
A book about the rivalry between the football clubs we support

I like the look of the velvetiser, but I'd quite like to see it in action before committing.

I'm getting DH a Los Pollos Hermanos t shirt. He's been rewatching Breaking Bad over the last few months so I think he'll like it.

I'm also wondering about getting him one of those credit card size photos of him and Dd so he can keep it in his wallet.

I'll also get him a bottle of whiskey.

I generally try to follow the want/need/wear/read rule but he's got a subscription to audible now so I may not buy him a book this year because he seems to prefer audiobooks these days.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 25/10/2018 22:26

Bumping for OP - selfishly because in spite of all the great ideas on here, still struggling for my OH

tranquilitybasehotel · 26/10/2018 07:36

I am getting DP:
A lordship as his jokey present (only £25).
Some sort of Bluetooth system to go in his car so he can use his phone hands free.
A new coat
Some nice gin
A variety of white chocolate goodies

tranquilitybasehotel · 26/10/2018 07:38

Although I'm not eyeing up the velvetiser for myself as my birthday is st the end of November and I have no idea what I want for either! Not sure it would be worth the money though.

Corfu06 · 26/10/2018 07:49

This is my first year with a BF and I have gone a bit overboard with presents but I have got:
Dr Martens Chelsea boots
A wallet ninja (quid from the pound shop)
An a4 framed print
A bottle of beer with 2 pint glass
Beard oil set
Nivea set
Band tshirt
Tshirt with the name of his favourite city
Personalised Nutella jar as it is his favourite.
Ted Baker socks

Really feel like I’ve got way too much and have no idea what he’s getting me but I’m just excited to see him open his presents Blush

Smellybears · 26/10/2018 08:56

@Corfu06 where about a were the wallet ninjas in the shop, what were they displayed with please? Going today but my local doesn’t ever seem to have any staff on the shop floor to ask anything Confused

Corfu06 · 26/10/2018 09:31

@Smellybears they were with the Christmas stuff. So they had all the decorations and bits then on the same wall of stuff they were at the far end. They had things like mugs/ novelty glasses and they were hung up there

Smellybears · 26/10/2018 09:52

@Corfu06 thank you! Makes it easier to run in with the pram now I know where to look!

Raglansleeve · 26/10/2018 10:00

Pouraglasshalffull, depending on budget for your dad, everyone I know who has a acaravan also has a Cadac Brai - it’s the law! Caravanning is like golf/cycling for men - there’s always another piece of kit to buy......

JingsMahBucket · 29/10/2018 10:50

This thread was extremely helpful last year. OH and I tend to only buy one or two things for each other and that’s it, and we’re childfree. Here’s what I’m thinking this year:

  • a belt
  • bergamot scented beard oil
  • pyjamas (we only just bought ourselves pyjamas last year for the first time in our adult lives)
  • homemade hot chocolate mixes (the Hotel Chocolat velvitiser gave me the idea)
  • gift certificate to a big and tall men’s shop (online). Anyone have ideas for this? We live in a mainland European country that doesn’t really have a lot of heavy/obese people so he struggles to buy clothes, especially nice ones.

I’m thinking of getting us a board game to play on Xmas Eve or Xmas Day while we keep warm and sip hot chocolate. Any ideas for that too?

@Corfu06 where did you get the beard oil? That’s one of the items I’m thinking of getting OH.

bluesky · 29/10/2018 12:49

catenthusiast I got dh a coffee subscription last Christmas from www.pactcoffee.com

He still gets it every month and really enjoys it, if you run out, you can click on the site and they send you the next months earlier, he's had a really good variety.

He's also kept the Cornerstone razor subscription going too, new blades for his razor.
