Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

www.tobydeals.co.uk/en_GB/product/nintendo-switch-with-gray-joy-con-1.html

Nintendo switch offer, that even with games purchased separately, is better than most bundle offers out

BadgerFace · 12/09/2018 20:22

Jammie Thank you so much for the Asda unicorn link!! Robert’s new girlfriend is singing it’s way to me. I just need to hide her for three months now...

GruffaloStick · 12/09/2018 20:24

I haven't clicked on any skimming links that I've noticed and I hope I haven't posted any either, please let me know if I have/do. Not entirely sure I understand, is it like a topcashback referral so the poster gets paid a referral fee?

Golden I bought this backpack for DH a couple of days ago, not arrived yet but seemed a bargain for 4quid www.sportsdirect.com/airwalk-essentials-backpack-719007?colcode=71900722
Other colours are eve cheaper

imsorryiasked · 12/09/2018 20:25

Just to say I've gone back and clicked on links that I posted from my normal browsing and they are now "skim resources" so i think it is a mumsnet site amendment.

GruffaloStick · 12/09/2018 20:27

Just checked and I'm getting the same thing on links I've clicked before im sorry never noticed thst

Carrie76 · 12/09/2018 20:29

@alanamackree thanks for the Avoca sale tip-off I went today and got loads of bargainsSmile

thewayoftheplatypus · 12/09/2018 20:33

I know it was mentioned that Tesco have 2 for £7 on their chocolate tins this week. Groupon currrntly have a £10 Tesco spend for £5 voucher. If you combine the offers then you can get the two tins of sweets for £2! Just got mine this evening x

winterisstillcoming · 12/09/2018 20:33

Christmas gift bags £1 for 4 in the card factory. All sizes available. Ok quality but good to have in the cupboard for throwing last minute bottles of wine into.

TheHammaconda · 12/09/2018 20:42

How do you know what a skimming link is? I wonder whether I posted one when cutting and pasting a link from another site?

IJustWantToWearDungarees · 12/09/2018 20:58

Groupon have a Lindt dark chocolate calendar (50 pieces - two a day) for 13.99 at the moment. Holding myself back from getting one as I am on a diet...

Teabird · 12/09/2018 21:09

Just been into Home Bargains today and they are doing a box of Thomas Fudges cheese biscuits. Oat & Chive, charcoal, multi seed and wheat & rye. Look delicious and only £2.25. Also had The famous Grouse chocolate bars at 99p. I'm doing a hamper for my dad.

GruffaloStick · 12/09/2018 21:11

As PP have said, skimming links is probably something @mnhq are doing.

For example, I clicked the bookpeople link a few posts ago regarding extended sale, then refreshed and clicked it again and saw skimming in the address bar, It was only shown briefly but see screenshots attached.

I don't think any posters are doing this on purpose

Thanks for all the playmobil info.

I haven’t bought any before but it’s good to hear it has longevity. Qq though - I see there seems to be a 1.5+ type and a 4+ type. Are they all the same size figures but the 4+ has really little accessories like money?

Considering for a 3 year old and confused

Alanamackree · 12/09/2018 21:26

@SimplyPut and @AlwaysPottering thanks for the top model tips. I think I’ll wait and see if I can get a general discount from a store selling the stuff.

@Carrie76 glad it was good. I’m hoping to squeeze in a trip tomorrow so hoping all the best bargains won’t be gone.

I’m still trying to get to grips with 21st century so please let me know if I’m doing anything iffy with links or otherwise. In my case it’s 99.99% certain to be technological incompetence rather than the work of a scheming evil genius 😂

Isadora2007 · 12/09/2018 21:27

@goldenphoenix River Island had nice plain men’s backpacks recently reduced to £15. I got one for Dds boyfriend as a baby change manbag.

Rockhopper81 · 12/09/2018 21:34

Pinkyponkcustard - the figures are smaller in the Playmobil for 4+.

The Playmobil for 18mths/2yrs+ - the Playmobil 1,2,3 range - has larger figures and chunkier pieces (vehicles, animals etc), whereas Playmobil for 4+ - ‘regular’ Playmobil - has smaller figures and lots of accessories. The smaller stuff isn’t for littles for still put things in their mouths, or at least the majority of it isn’t. Smile

Rockhopper81 · 12/09/2018 21:37

Just read the final paragraph of your post - sorry!

If I were buying for a 3 year old, I’d buy regular Playmobil (so, 4yrs+), and advise to take out the very small accessories if I thought they might be a choking hazard to that particular child. I bought Playmobil for my nephews when they were 3 - they didn’t really appreciate all the accessories for a while anyway, they liked having figures, vehicles and animals really. It kept the play value going though, as they introduced the accessories as they got older.

whatwillicallmyself · 12/09/2018 21:46

Alanamackree I got great stuff in the Avoca sale today especially for my mom she is delighted, thanks a million, also I can't remember who originally posted the poundtoy link but my parcel arrived yesterday and I am thrilled, have most of my stockings sorted from there.

princessbear80 · 12/09/2018 21:51

@thewayoftheplatypus would you mind posting a link to the groupon Tesco deal please? I’ve had a look on the groupon site but can’t find it. Thanks

TacoFriday · 12/09/2018 21:54

MN have confirmed that they add the skimming links to any link you post on here, regardless if it’s in style and beauty or AIBU. It’s part of the code used in their brackets [[ and it’s a way to make a bit of £

Alanamackree · 12/09/2018 21:55

Keep an eye for Smyths emails over the next while. I’m guessing that, like last year, they’ll have various offers on selected products over a couple of weeks and then hopefully the £10 off £50 etc vouchers but no big sale pines for the good old days of riots and trolley ramming

Alanamackree · 12/09/2018 21:56

@whatwillicallmyself Smile

Pinkyponkcustard · 12/09/2018 21:56

Thank you @rockhopper81 much appreciated x

TKRedLemonade · 12/09/2018 22:04

Aggh 4 1/2 year old has been introduced to sylvanian families by older kids.......however it’s the sort of stuff I loved as a kid so don’t mind too much in theory but it’s sooo expensive. She has already said she wants the “Christmas one on tv”.....no idea what this is though. A house with some Christmas bits?
