Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Brownieb - you can usually get it for half price, depending what set you want.

For those looking for dinosaur presents, this create-a-track dinosaur compound and light up car race track is £13.95 delivered through Amazon, down from £24.99 plus delivery. It's got good reviews, as well.

Spam88 · 21/08/2018 07:37

brownie I got the farm half price at ELC plus there was a spend and save on at the time. Looks like everything bar the little village set is back up to full price now but that's probably the best place to keep an eye - I couldn't find anywhere else selling them for less than full price.

Brownieb · 21/08/2018 07:48

Thanks spam

BadgerFace · 21/08/2018 08:02

Brownie ELC tend to have a lot of half price Happyland sales so sign up for their e-newsletter.

You can also sign up to their birthday club for a 20% off full price code near their birthday. (In retrospect I wish I’d put in an October or November birthday for one of my girls... they are both first week of Jan and thanks to this thread I have usually finished all their present buying by Oct/Nov so never make use of my codes...!)

@reindeer poop if you have half an hour you can get through the whol toys for a pound site. It was easier when I realised there was a search bar to type in keywords like “unicorn” “pony” or brands like Star Wars. I’ve attached a couple of pics

reindeer I tend to buy the branded things rather than cheap bits. So far I've got
minions top trumps
monster high figures
Pokemon meal set
Pokemon gel pens
superhero girls pencil case
Minecraft blind box

Alot I bought isn't available now, but there are some gems amongst the usual pound shop tat. I looked in all the categories. Then when I next look sort from new to old. :)

Spam88 · 21/08/2018 08:34

badger you can add up to 10 (I think) kids, so make up some nieces and nephews and spread them throughout the year. We've just had our voucher for little Augustina's birthday Grin

LancashireTea · 21/08/2018 08:50

@whirlwindhugs I normally use Vistaprint for my photo calendars. I usually buy them as presents for the GPs and my sister with photos of my DD in them. Excellent quality and there is usually a discount code on the site.

We even got our wedding invitations and stationary from there!Blush

Dolceandgabbana14 · 21/08/2018 08:52

This is a lovely gift for girls aged approx 6-10. Bargain at £3.19 on Amazon at the moment. With a packet of nice pens it makes a good gift. If the price goes up, is often at The Works for £5.

BadgerFace · 21/08/2018 08:52

Thanks Spam! I think about it most years, then get carried away on this thread and forget until it’s too late... Grin Might get round to it this year!

DH uses Vista for a photo calendar each year and we’ve done a few books too. We’re always really pleased with them.

margaritasbythesea · 21/08/2018 08:55

Not Christmassy, but I know this will be the place to ask.

I am looking for a bargain but good quality place to buy household linens like towels, tea towels and sheets. Looking t put something nice together for someone who is going away to uni.

Can't help but feeling it has been a long time since a decent Matalan discount!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 21/08/2018 09:06

I need 3 of the Lego storage heads (do the sorter ones still exist?). What’s a good price for them?

Thanks!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 21/08/2018 09:06

Thanks dolce a perfect gift for a friends DD

Dolceandgabbana14 · 21/08/2018 09:22

You're welcome! Glad it helped somebody Smile

Margaritas, have a look at Dunelm. Very reasonable and the bed linen, curtains and towels I've had from there in the past have been lovely.

MrsCrimbo74 · 21/08/2018 09:46

Not necessarily for Christmas but I was RL shopping at the weekend and walked past a The Works shop and they had these books outside, they're personalised You're amazing books and are only £3.99 each, I bought some for my DS school friends birthday gifts. You can buy them online.

Stompythedinosaur · 21/08/2018 11:11

Thanks Dolce I've stocked up on a couple of those books for my present stash. Dd1 got one last year and really liked it.

KavvLar · 21/08/2018 11:14

Reindeer I just checked my toys for a pound order as was starting to doubt myself! Similar stuff at the Works would probably come in at double the cost, I'd have thought? As Pps have said no stand out main presents, but I think this lot will suffice as stocking fillers for my two.

We sell a lot of the toysforapound things in the independent toy shop I work in. A blind bag is £2.50-£3 and those squeezems on a chain are £4.99. Obviously at times you can get things in the pound shop but I've not seen any in ours. I also got ds a baseball cap for £1 which is amazing Grin

Notasyoungasiwas · 21/08/2018 12:52

Well I’ve ordered 32 Gruffalo Top Trumps - we’ll wait and see!

LoudestRoar · 21/08/2018 13:30

I may regret getting this for dh, but fun bottle top launcher.

Looks like it takes a while to be delivered, so ordering now to give it plenty of time.

LoudestRoar · 21/08/2018 13:32

I also picked up this amazing colouring book from Wilkos. Colour in, scan with the app, and it turns into a 3d image on your phone.
£2.50, and they had a whole range of others.

Rockhopper81 · 21/08/2018 13:43

LoudestRoar Thanks for the heads-up about the colouring book - I have a couple of nephews who would love it! I bought them back a Crayola one from the US last year (zombies, but cute, if that makes sense!) and they loved colouring and then having their picture taken with them!

Stompythedinosaur · 21/08/2018 13:45

I got this robot dinosaur for a friend's dc last year. It was £16 then, it's now down to £6.75. It seemed pretty good for the price.

Greystar · 21/08/2018 14:00
