We were at a wedding yesterday and were saying how fast the nights are drawing in, the crap weather doens't help! Bit worried about our holiday in france in three weeks, hope it feels like summer then!

Can I join in? I hibernate from mid Jan once I've stocked up on paper and bargains and I usually get going in earnest once the kids go back to school in September. I have no one in RL that wouldn't consider having me committed if they knew I'm thinking of Christmas already.

Can I join too? Got a fair few presents & considering starting the wrapping soon (usually save it for December). Am especially excited for this year as DH has booked 21st-28th December off. Also hosting for first time since 2014, only my parents coming so not much extra work but I get to be totally in charge of food (greedy) Just waiting for a stocking kit to arrive from Amazon so I can get started on DDs stocking.

I sorted out the bits I've bought so far yesterday (mainly stocking fillers for DC) and made a list of who I need gifts for. Love a list I do! I aim to be done by November

I went to buy the Harry Potter bath bombs last week but my local lush said they didn't stock them 😭 I'm off to lakeside today though so fingers crossed. They won't last to Christmas though. We were meant to be going to the local reindeer farm today but it turns out it doesn't open on a Tuesday.

I always aim to have December free of shopping so I can relax and enjoy doing activities (mostly craft and baking) with the kids.
It never quite works out completely
As much as I love Christmas I find shopping in crowds stressful. I hate that closed in feeling of not being able to get out of the shop because of the crowds.
And I love knowing there is a secret stash of presents tucked away that my family dont know about (rubs hands together like a Christmassy super villain)

HI everyone, have started buying Christmas presents this week. I've got a lots of nieces and nephews and 3dc to buy for so if I want to be done by 01/12 then I need to get going! This week I've picked up a stocking filler and some lego for one of my nieces. I'm also going to book some Christmas days out!

Harry Potter bath bombs!?! Are they in the shops? I might have to wander down, if the weather picks up a bit!

I love Muppet Christmas Carol, Fluffy. I was gutted because none of the on demand things that we have (Amazon/Netflix/NowTV) had it last year. I usually watch it in the week before Christmas and it helps me feel Christmassy.

tootsie I don't think you're wishing summer away. It's doing a good job of that itself... I have my heater on at work today, my feet are frozen even with my tights on! I have noticed the nights as well, and I actually had to turn the lights on when we got up this morning

I hate shopping when it's crowded as well, Ann, hence why I have it all done and dusted before then. I'm loving the thought of you as a Christmassy supervillain - green like the Grinch, but with red pigtails like Anne-with-an-e

I hate shopping in December too - I like to just enjoy the run up to Christmas! I need to be done by the beginning of November this year though due to the impending arrival... so that gives me 2 1/2 months. I've started, but only small bits. Lots and lots to do! It's also my busiest time of year for my business in October / November , so add that into the mix, plus a toddler , I'm going to be busy busy!

I hate shopping at any time! Bored me rigid and I'm rubbish at finding bargains.

I'm feeling a bit twitchy. I've bought a few tiny presets and made 2 (one for each niece) but that's it. I'm away for Christmas and planning to do my shopping while I'm there but I'm really struggling with it being August and not having a plan.
I can't even plan what to buy for people because I want to be able to pick while I'm there

Do you think that's a good idea? I'm going to be in New York so it's not like I'm going to struggle! It's just that this time last year my lists were almost complete and I had most of my presents in various website shopping baskets ready.

Also, I usually love the wintery weather but I'm away helping out at MILs farm as she's unwell this week and being out in this rain is horrible ☔️

Must switch off my phone. My nose has been buried it it all morning Christmas shopping. Can't find nice wrapping paper yet though. I want to wrap as I go this year as it becomes a huge task in December.

Has anyone found an edition of the muppet Christmas carol with the song 'it was almost love' on it. I hate that they cut it out.

Hi everyone. I always start thinking about Christmas after my eldest's birthday and that was last week. I'm now, officially, starting to plan.

Normally I have a spreadsheet that I use to keep track of everything but my laptop died so I'm seeing how I get on with an app this year.

I love the look of that cereal advent calendar. I'm such a sucker for that sort of thing.

I have an empty shelf in the kitchen cupboard for Christmas food.

cookiefiend it's so annoying when you want to wrap and can't find any paper. That drive me nuts last year! Could you spruce up some plain brown paper instead? A few years ago I used twine and lace and added sprigs of pine and fir later and it looked really well. Looked like I'd made a lot more effort than I really had!

Blackandpurple will you have the willpower not to sample them before Christmas? I usually end up overspending because I have to keep replacing the stuff I "sample"

Tesco has Pringles at half price at the moment. I'm very tempted to get a few tubes and store them in the garage. They've got an eat by date of August 2018 so they'll last as long as they weren't in the house

Yesterday's Pinterest session get precisely nowhere. I've got a cough that's developing into a cold so I'm lounging on a sofa with a hot water and MN feeling very sorry for myself.
