Now I am nosy intrigued as to how much the dreaded 'twitch' cost you last year. I probably won't start twitching until at least the second week only December when things are getting wrapped... But it cost £140 with oh I don't think dbil has as much as dfil etc etc .

Tell me your stories Grin and make me feel better

Resist!!! I think the Lego set either give him what you have for Christmas and top up with last set at birthday. A watch possibly he may need so that may satisfy your twitching! I have brought nothing at all today Grin well done me!

NewBeginningsSnoopy · 19/12/2013 00:33

Ok lego is for his birthday now. He doesn't strictly NEED the watch but he IS learning to tell the time & it's cute. I've already spent enough so maybe just get him the sleepsuit (which he has asked for) and leave the watch (which he has not asked for & may not actually wear.)

NewBeginningsSnoopy · 19/12/2013 00:40

I have literally just had all his Christmas things spread all over the bed and if you take all the lego out of the equation... he still has loads of really great stuff and will be ecstatic. The watch would probably be... On Christmas Day... A Boring Thing. I had been a little worried that my daughters stuff will be much more impressive but it's ok. They'll both be thrilled. Just a trip to Ikea for a tiny thing and the onesie sorted and I can finally start thinking about what to get for my friends. I need thoughtful presents... Adults are so hard to buy for though!!! Perhaps just inviting them all over as per original plan... That way I can just buy nice food & drink. Solution? Any ideas for good presents that are small?

FestiveSpiritedwolf · 19/12/2013 07:46

DH has already got a DVD Box Set (and a bunch of other stuff), he doesn't need another one, does he?

must leave some money in the joint account for him to buy me presents as

Have just got him a wallet (which had been in a previous order that didn't appear and was cancelled) and a board game. twitch

NewBeginningsSnoopy · 19/12/2013 20:32

Right well I went into M&S today to buy all in ones. Decided when I was in there that all in ones are silly- like how do they go to the toilet?!? So spent a LOOOT of money on 3 piece pjs for my son and fluffy socks, expensive pants and 2 jumpers for my daughter. It was kinda expensive!!!!

DENMAN03 · 20/12/2013 00:18

I finished my shopping way too early (October) and had been fine. Tonight however I managed to spend an extra £245 on my beloved twin sister.

I just cant help myself! eek...still, she will love what I have bought her!

NewBeginningsSnoopy · 20/12/2013 12:42

Thank God Amazon will not deliver now before Christmas! (Unless I pay for fast delivery... ) Argh!

ItsIgginningToLookALotLikeXmas · 20/12/2013 12:59

Was a bit worried there as have just ordered something from them. Free trial of Amazon Prime to get fast delivery..

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 20/12/2013 13:59

£60 so far, a tenner in monsoon, 18 m and s, and 28 in JL ( and that was utter crap)

seveneights · 20/12/2013 16:17

I twitched at Asda earlier, I only went in for bread but bought a wooden dolls house reduced to £10, a jingle bell wreath, a reindeer teddy, multiple selection boxes reduced to 79p, another tin of quality street, and some reasonably priced biscuits for cheese.

Then looking through S1's learning journal, I saw he had written asking Santa for a star wars game (he has never mentioned this to me!). Now trying to talk myself out of buying the Death Star lego and into star wars top trumps instead.

CalamitouslyWrong · 20/12/2013 16:47

DH seems to have bought a tedious sounding academic book this afternoon (for himself, I presume/hope), and the email from amazon said estimated delivery is the 23rd so I think they are still delivering before Christmas with prime.

Luggage16 · 20/12/2013 16:54

I twitched and bought the cd player

and then we twitched and spent £10 on 2 boxes of chocs in sainsburys

but its payday today so have a horrible feeling the twitch will get worse before it gets better!

CalamitouslyWrong · 20/12/2013 17:02

I haven't twitched because I planned to leave it all this late! I have bought everything, and wrapped it.

I'm just waiting for BIL's stinky cheese present to arrive in the post and also the stuff my mum is having delivered to my house (which I will have to wrap). I've even done the food shop (because sainsbury's will be beyond hideous if I leave it any later; it was busy enough today).

The only thing we still need to buy is crackers. And H has to take the kids shopping to choose me a present from them.

oneofthosedays · 20/12/2013 17:21

I've twitched quite badly and bought DH body shop stuff and dvds (£25), myself and DD body shop stuff (£30), DD a couple of cds, DS guinness book of world records (£20), pair of heelies for both DCs (£85) and a bargain portable dvd player (£44 but got to the till and it was £29!) - felt so guilty as it all went on the credit card Blush but sorted it so it will all be paid off in the new year and I'm feeling a bit better about it, especially when dh said how fab it all looked.

It's all wrapped and hidden now so there will definitely not be any more twitching! !

iheartdusty · 20/12/2013 23:26

I am twitching about DD.

She has Enough, but DS has More.

I could bulk hers out with body shop stuff and the like, or I could take some off DS's pile and give it to him on his birthday (January), or I could go on Amazon....

my big mistake was that I didn't get all the presents out before DD's birthday, I should have held more back at that stage and done a proper balancing up.

Rosvita · 21/12/2013 00:21

oneofthosedays out of interest where did you get the portable DVD player from? Also I twitched and spent £120 in next today when I was meant to just be going in to have a look for a tunic suitable for work Xmas do and Xmas day itself...

NewBeginningsSnoopy · 21/12/2013 00:27

Dusty save things for your sons birthday in January!!

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 21/12/2013 00:33

Gah, I twitched. A bubble guppie is on its way to my home (curse you amazon) obviously it is the pink one, Molly.....or Polly as DD calls her

NewBeginningsSnoopy · 21/12/2013 08:47

Trying not to buy expensive things for all my friends. Trying not to buy expensive things for all my friends. They deserve it but I cannot afford it. Repeat. Cannot afford it. (And don't really have time to buy it all.) it will also make them think they have to buy presents for me. No. Resist!

Guitargirl · 21/12/2013 09:16

I twitched in Harrods yesterday of all places and ended up spending nearly 40 quid on chocolate for the DC's stockings Xmas Hmm.

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 21/12/2013 10:22

A bit of posh choc is just want you want in a stocking though isn't it Guitargirl? I dd the same in a posh shop near us the other day - though obvs not as posh as Harrods as we are out in the stix here - But I do think it's cute with pretty Christmas pics on.

< starts mass twitch stampede for stocking chocolate Xmas Grin >

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 21/12/2013 10:26
  • And actually really any chocolate will do - choc money always a good one - so nice and shiny Xmas Grin
iheartdusty · 21/12/2013 10:54

thanks, newbeginnings, I know you are right, but on the other hand....

Part of the problem is also the classic situation that DS has big boxes containing Lego and the like, whilst DD has small teenagery things.

insanityscatching · 21/12/2013 13:08

I've twitched Xmas Hmm bought dd2 the fluffy cuddly dog from BHS, some headphones for her new ipod, Bought dd1 some lovely tights for her stocking and then took dd2 to town so that she could buy ds3 a gift envisaging chocolate but instead came away with a ps3 game and an annual Xmas Hmm

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 21/12/2013 13:20

It's very cute but a potential twitcher's nightmare when DC start deciding they want to get something for each other, and for you insanity (apt NN for thread Xmas Smile) Arghhhh Xmas Grin
