Now I am nosy intrigued as to how much the dreaded 'twitch' cost you last year. I probably won't start twitching until at least the second week only December when things are getting wrapped... But it cost £140 with oh I don't think dbil has as much as dfil etc etc .

Tell me your stories Grin and make me feel better

Yes. It is a relief when shopping time has passed. I get very relaxed then. The bargain threads have been really helpful and torture all at the same time.

Saving loads and trying not to buy more stuff for ds2 which is all so cool and a great bargain.

My main twitch will involve dd. It always seems to be her. I don't know why.

fuzzpig · 17/11/2013 18:54

I have deliberately avoided the bargain threads this year! Although I'd save money in one sense it'd cost me a fortune in another!

Katieweasel · 17/11/2013 19:05

I'm determined there will be no twitching here this year! Just because I am under budget does not mean I have not bought enough!

notthefirstagainstthewall · 17/11/2013 19:13

Arrrghhh I have a small but compulsive twitch.

I have brought the LED lights (for DS school friends), finger rings (next doors teenage girls) and cheap scarves (just because)....

...only every child brought the finger lights at the schools bonfire night, next door don't really come round anymore as everything has moved on to boys and I already bought "emergency gifts" in a gift shop closing down sale.

So masses of tat and still have to get real presents.

NannyPlumForPM · 17/11/2013 20:02

70- I'm a food twitcher!! Then have to take down truckloads a bit to mum and dads Xmas Grin < hopeful for Xmas smile>

Morgause · 19/11/2013 16:07

it's only November and I twitched in a book store.

fuzzpig · 19/11/2013 16:10

Oh but you can't have too many books morgause so that doesn't count :o

I need to avoid Musical instrument twitch this year Hmm just put together a basket of naice instruments for the DCs but there's sooo many more I'd get if I could. And there's still plenty of space in the basket...

TheOnlyPink · 19/11/2013 16:19

My twitch cost me about €150 last year. Bought crap just for the sake of it, and January was really fucking grim because of the overspend.

so determined this year, have been browsing for weeks, a religious follower of reasties thread and know exactly what everyone is getting. Had one or two moments already for the kids, but very sensible dh likes my list and keeps me focused!

I haven't started my food list, so hoping i can keep on an even keel.

2kidsintow · 19/11/2013 21:29

I don't twitch much.

My parents are sorted, as are most of my family.

My MIL and her sister, however, buy us and the DCs far too many lots of gifts. It feels wrong to only give one or two things in return. And no matter what we take, it always seems that they give so much more that it's almost embarrassing.

BlinkQuenelle · 20/11/2013 10:26

I always get The Twitch when I start shopping too early. I've got it already.

I bought 4 Snuggleuppets last week after seeing them on here. Now I'm worried that three of the children and especially their mums will think they're naff, and don't go with their bedrooms.

Also, I vowed not to buy presents for my sister or grown-up nieces because none of them even sent DS a card on his birthday this year and they're never grateful for what I get them. Now sister has invited us to hers on Christmas morning and I can't go empty-handed.

DH refuses to discuss any of it with me.

milk · 20/11/2013 15:28

I'M TWITCHING, I'M TWITCHING Shock

TheOneWithTheHair · 20/11/2013 15:58

I am still calm. All presents but one are bought. December 1st will be the start of danger time.

milk · 20/11/2013 16:08

Twitch over :) Another £9.95 spent... but now I'm sure I have all the presents... at the moment...

ArbitraryUsername · 20/11/2013 20:58

The best course of action is clearly to leave it all until the 20th of December and then there'll be no time for twitching. Grin

NannyPlumForPM · 20/11/2013 21:04

Oh heck I just had a £63 decoration based hitch-
Dh is maaaaaaad

I'm twitching - was all done but have managed to reserve 3 things today in Argos (bargainous half price toys). Shouldn't go collect them should I.

MikeLitoris · 20/11/2013 21:40

The twitch once cost me me £76 on Christmas eve. Popped into Tesco to get dd1 a hair clip and a matey bubble bath.

Ended up with a full set of disney princess dolls. She has never played with a doll in her life. These were not an exception.

I have just learnt to accept the inevitable. I'll be shopping until I'm thrown out of the supermarket on the 24th

soontobeburns · 20/11/2013 22:00

Does it count buying myself stuff? Im taking DP away ina ccouple of weeks for his birthday. I twitched when I saw Ann Summers had a sale a got sexy underwear.

I couldn't help it. A bra and 5 pairs of knickers for £25 and 30% cash back couldn't resist, yet im supposed to be saving spending money doh.

poorbuthappy · 20/11/2013 22:02

This is why I don't wrap until Xmas Eve. I don't get the twitch until all is wrapped in 1 place.

GColdtimer · 20/11/2013 22:12

There is a simple remedy for the twitch. Leave it all to the last minute there is no time for it.

milk · 21/11/2013 09:13

Although I love being on the Christmas topic, I'm actually a Chanukah celebrator Shock which is next week (6 days to go)... hence why I'm twitching away (panicking about presents, food, decorations etc)

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/11/2013 09:28

milk, we celebrated both when I was younger (my mum married out. Shock). Also 4 out of 5 of us have birthdays from 11th to the 24th December. It was a month long celebration!

NannyPlum, not more decorations! I hope you've started that mural. Only 34 days to go you know.

NannyPlumForPM · 21/11/2013 09:34

Yes yes, I have a house (complete with rooms and tree/ table filled with food and curtains) FC, reindeer is 90% done- phew- the rest was mainly
Lights and a new tree for dd!! We now have 4 in our tiny 2 up 2 down Wink but in my defence I am poorly do having the week off work :)

OP posts:
MARGUERITE18 · 21/11/2013 09:58

I just twitched in morrisons and bought most of the xmas isle :0 and I have been thinking alot about a new tree lately so there may be a big artificial tree shaped twitch coming up :)
