Christmas

So what do YOU want for Christmas?!

There are so many threads on what to get DCs/aged relatives for Christmas, I thought I would start one with our Christmas wish lists - fantasy or otherwise!

This is the place to be extremely materialistic and share what you would like Santa to bring you this December 25th.

After world peace blah, blah, blah, I would like the following:

A nice watch (haven't had one for years)
An appointment to get my 'colours' done
Sheepskin slippers
Some new running trainers
Riding lessons
Some nice skin care products and make up
Paperchase stationary
A shopping spree for new clothes on the back of having my colours done

I am never in million years expecting all of this, maybe one or two things if I'm lucky! I also like surprises/little bits and bobs too.

What is on your crimbo list this year? Smile

Other than a healthy baby, preferably delivered prior to Xmas (due on the 15th) I would really really like someone else to organise and sort out replacing the bathroom and kitchen windows. And my loft asbestos.

And I would like a really lovely big woollen throw for the sofa so I can hibernate there for the rest of the winter with new baby.

Someone to do all the ironing for the next year (or a top-of-the-range iron to make it feel like less work)
A new haircut (with a style consultation beforehand)
An afternoon with a personal shopper (and to keep all the outfits I like)
Brand new fluffy giant towels
An all-inclusive family ski trip
A new bag for work
New flowers/trees for the garden
A new job for DH that he actually enjoys but would still be enough to cover our monthly outgoings

I guess I'll be making do with my annual Amazon voucher though Grin

Aaaah all these Christmas Babies.

My own Millenium Baby (born on the 7th Dec) has just stormen in soaked from the rain with his waterproof in his locker Hmm

I don't really remember Christmas 1999 - except DH and I were knackered

DC1 due next month. For Christmas we are going abroad to introduce the baby to my family.

So this must be the first time ever I honestly don't care about getting a christmas present.

What I want:

  • baby to be there and healthy and breastfeeding well by Christmas
  • enjoying a lovely week with the family, nice and cosy in my mum's house with the dog by my feet
  • DP to be able to be there too when his *** company finally approve his time off for Xmas - he didn't take any holidays last year over Christmas/NY so I hope they remember that

A cure for my multiple food sensitivities.
A bigger house.
A wad of dosh so we can afford to insure DD to drive our car.
Tickets for the best seats at an opera, ballet, play and musical.
Plane flights and luxury hotel booking for a weekend in London.
Stylish and warm coat.
Cashmere jumper.

Sofa that hasn't been half eaten by our stupid lovely rabbits.

Sigh. A bit of superficiality is surprisingly therapeutic!

Apart from DS to make some friends at his new school, I'd like:

Some wooden tongs so I no longer burn my fingers getting bagels from the toaster every morning!

Fun's first CD. Still not bought it for myself because I can't believe no one has taken the hint for so long. Nate Ruess will be fat and grey before I get it at this rate.

Spa day for me and my sis.

A long plain grey or black cashmere cardigan

And Alibaba that's a brilliant idea. I'd LOVE a garden makeover. But will settle for wooden toaster tongs and Fun CD. :)

notagiraffe I have wooden toaster tongs. They came in a wok set that has been long abandoned but the 'toast tongs' as they are known are flipping brilliant. They hang on a special little hook just above the toaster for convenience.

Reading this thread through has made me feel very blessed. I can echo the thoughts about missing loved ones, my Grandma would have loved to meet my boys.
Those of you waiting on babies, and the IVF lady - I really hope you get your wishes.
Those of you waiting on marriage proposals - propose to him instead!

And actually what I would really like this Christmas is for DH to be in work. The last two years he has had a redundancy hanging over him, or actually been out of work. As a result Christmas has been a bit subdued because of wondering what the new year would bring. He has just signed a new contract which starts on Tuesday (he works freelance these days due to aforementioned redundancy) so we will hope that this Christmas will be better on that score!

I would like all of my steroid weight to have come off by the start of December so I don't look like THE FUCKING MOON at parties etc. Envy
And in other news....
A hooded oversized dressing gown
A brooch for my heavy winter coat (think gold, heavy 70's)
Charbonnet et Walker hot chocolate
A pair of jeans that are skinny enough to go in boots but not too tight, low rise but don't reveal arse crack when crouching down, comfortable to drive in (this may be related to the aforementioned steroid weight)
A new Schrieber bassoon
A bottle of really good gin that I don't have to share
Flights to somewhere fabulous to fritter away boring old January (and leave of absence from work)

interesting how so many of us want new pjs / dressing gowns / slippers
Are the women of the world actually spending their evenings sprawled on their collective sofas in faded, mis-shapen, greyish rags? or is that just me???

Mine is pure fantasy - I only get a couple of token pressies from friends so this is more of a 'I really should save up so that I can get these for myself' list:
Colours done and the extra hour or so for going through wardrobe and purging
Driving lessons now that I finally got around to retaking my theory
Hybrid car
A woodworking course (want to build so many things!)

@ attheendoftheday - I could do the necklace with fingerprints for you at materials cost price (pm me if your interested). It would be about a third of what John Lewis charge but only a tad cheaper than ebay types.

My fantasy list:

  1. A decorator to redo our bedroom and kitchen.
  2. A cleaner to deep clean the house.
  3. A childfree day of pampering for me.

My reality list is:
  1. A pendant with DD's handprint on it (totally pfb Grin)
  2. A gold chain for my special occasion necklace
  3. To not prepare Christmas dinner.

I would never actually ask for anything but these are the materialistic gifts I would like:-

A car
Babyliss big hair
New make up
Kindle HD Fire
Books
Box set of Buffy (buying it for ds1 so will have it anyway)
Elemis goodies
iTunes voucher
Candles
Original art
Champagne

That's quite a lot!

I think I'm going to get the Babyliss Big Hair and books. We may buy an iPad for the family so I won't need the Kindle.

I don't actually want any material things really. It's my first Christmas without someone who was very special to me and I would have him back if I could.
