Christmas

So what do YOU want for Christmas?!

There are so many threads on what to get DCs/aged relatives for Christmas, I thought I would start one with our Christmas wish lists - fantasy or otherwise!

This is the place to be extremely materialistic and share what you would like Santa to bring you this December 25th.

After world peace blah, blah, blah, I would like the following:

A nice watch (haven't had one for years)
An appointment to get my 'colours' done
Sheepskin slippers
Some new running trainers
Riding lessons
Some nice skin care products and make up
Paperchase stationary
A shopping spree for new clothes on the back of having my colours done

I am never in million years expecting all of this, maybe one or two things if I'm lucky! I also like surprises/little bits and bobs too.

What is on your crimbo list this year? Smile

I would like to be flown 1st class to where DH is, or for him to come home for a few days over Christmas. He will be 3 months into a 4 month deployment and it is the first Christmas in 21 years we will be apart.Sad

I don't want anything else.

ten minutes with my mum and dad, just me and them

I'd show them pictures of my dc's, I know they'd love to see them

and I'd see their faces and hear their voices again, and I'd feel like I had a mum and dad again and have that safe, warm feeling I'll never have again

I wouldn't tell anyone, it'd just be our secret

apart from that, theres nothing else I'd want.

I want one a flight of stairs.. One A garden.. One A tropical paradise and so on. So when all the doors are shut upstairs it's just like looking into different places.

Pity new doors would be cheaper Grin

Someone else to buy all the bloody presents. That would be a gift in itself. I have tons of birthdays coming up too and I am cheesed off with sorting it all. I am the Grinch!

You know what I got OliviaMnet when I gave up work on 15th December and thought "oh wow, six weeks of peace and rest - just got to get everything done for Christmas". Yep, 2.47am on Christmas day a lovely DS at 36.3 - best Christmas present I ever got - fucked up Christmas though Grin.

Right there with you SSD, I would love some time with DD1. I find presents hard for this reason as those things like spending time with much loved people are what matter. I have never quite got back to asking for fun presents for this reason.

So sorry that no one can fulfill your dream.

You are so right ssd. I had a long list of lovely things I wanted and then I read your post and I realised that the only thing I really want is to have 5 minutes with my Daddy. So that my baby DS could crawl up to him squealing and they could meet, and he could meet my darling boy cat who I know he would have loved, and so he could tell me that one particular story he didn't tell me and i could hear his laugh just one more time. Oh well :)

My list so far is:

Slippers
Pyjamas
Socks
Earrings
Small handbag
Sports trainers

No chocolates as I'm determined to lose my 'baby weight', no books as my 'to read' pile is stacked high, and no DVDs as I struggle to sit down and watch them.

I was going to say thanks to those of you who suggested that I buy myself a present and that I'd definitely consider doing that this year, but then I read what SSD, tinypumpkin and BlackCatMummy said and it put things into perspective and made me cry. How I wish you could have what you desire.

If we are talking total frivolity then I would like

  • one of those babyliss curl gadgets that I can't afford
  • leather shoes and boots
  • a new winter jumper that's warm but not too bulky
  • a new bed and bedding
  • a new body

I would like

a new sewing machine I may or may not be planning to get that early so I can make the dc presents then put it back in it's box

lots of sharpies I might have already stashed some away

a biscuit tin which fits in our cupboard

happy faces when they see the bits I have been squirreling away

a lie in

a lottery win

the grandparents to all be fit and sprightly again but short of a real life coccon I know that won't happen.

Oh and I know dh prefers to get me surprises, but I really would rather get some of the things I want/ need this year rather than necklaces I wear once or a blanket I will never use.

I don't know and it's my birthday in November as well.

I need to start thinking!

DanglingChillis · 10/10/2013 21:55

I want:

A new lampshade for the table lamp in the dining room
New measuring cups (DH knows I want this so will probably take the girls to go and and choose some from the posh cook shop)
I know I'm getting (because I left a leaflet out for DH with it highlighted) a baking lesson at a local patisserie (either making pastries or chocolates, don't know which yet) which I'm really looking forward to.
I've got lots of books on my Amazon wishlist, my family are wishlist addicts (we all have them) so I should get a few.

Can't believe some of you don't get presents, that really sucks. DH and I sometimes agree to buy something practical (we bought a bin for ourselves last year but is was an expensive designer bin and we agreed that we wanted that rather than anything else) but get small nice presents as well (like a book) for each other.

OMG @ Christmas Baby Shock

Am hoping that the twins will be here by Christmas but my mat leave starts on 1 Nov and I have still done all my Christmas shopping already.
I have not wrapped yet and the fake tree arrived last week so I am all ready for it. Just need to order my "ready meal" xmas dinner for the 4 of us from one of the supermarkets to cut down on hassle.

Picked up the tinned chocs on special last weekend and even ordered my crackers which are coming in this weeks shopping -with some v frivolous candy canes that may well get forgotten about--

Sorry if I sound smug but in my life I have Never* been this organised (and I am quite an organised chaos kind of person)
trying to control the uncontrollable, moi?

Get the pram and cot put together and have a practice run at the sterilizer before they come - and try to have more in than three vests and babygros - there weren't many shops open for a few days and friends gave us tie at the bottom nighties Wink. Good luck and be sure to post all about them - live birth thread? Grin

There are a few things I'd quite like (aside from massive things like holidays, cars and houses) - colours/style appointment, a cashmere hoodie, the new Orla Kiely and Lorraine Pascale books, the Boots version of a Clarisonic, a new sewing box - and I know if I make DH and my family aware of what I am hoping for I'll probably get some of them.

Reading some of the responses on this thread makes me feel incredibly lucky that I have people who will bother to buy me something I'd like even if they do sometimes need a bit of guidance!
