Oh help please - for my mum - she's stylish and tasteful, has everything, useless with techy stuff, doesn't eat much so things like chocs a no no, not too keen on smellies, lives on her own (already have photo of dds for her) - need something around the £20 mark??

MerryMarigold · 06/12/2010 16:50

oooh, I NEED you.

I have to spend 100 quid on dh's uncle and aunt (in their 60's) - got them as secret santa and they are killers to buy for.

They are well off but are not into 'stuff', live quite simply.

Uncle likes food, wine - but has diabetes and heart issues. Is honorary Italian
Aunt - is an artist

I don't know them v well, tbh. That's about as much as I have to go on!

Was thinking of opera tickets but their son says uncle won't go, will fall asleep!

RolandButter · 06/12/2010 16:51

rouge noir nail varnish?
are we on accessories?
what about a largeish purse/small clutch bag for her stuff if she goes out for a meal?

RolandButter · 06/12/2010 16:57

this kind of thing?
or one of those leather cross over flat bags peopel use on city breaks?
white stuff sell em

dublinmom · 06/12/2010 17:04

What for 19 year old BIL
University student (music)

I don't want to get him anything. Too old for kid-relative presents. Not grown-up enough to realise he could recpricate gift-giving . DH inisiting. Apparantly MIL would be offended if we didn't (so?).

scrappydappydoo · 06/12/2010 17:07

ah - not sure about buying a clothing/accessory item - she's very stylish and I'm very not (she despairs of me) she quite likes quirky stuff but I never know where the line is drawn between quirky and tat..

scrappydappydoo · 06/12/2010 17:08

For the student. Cash obv. He'll love you.

1234ThumbScrew · 06/12/2010 17:33

fel1x - ahh looks good, I think he might think it's a bit too childlike but I'm going to keep it in my mental reserve list.

Will attempt to help with some of the other posters requests by way of karma/thanks.

RolandButter · 06/12/2010 17:33

Marigold. Have you checked out the Tate online shop? Lovely things.

RolandButter · 06/12/2010 17:44

I got a stupidly simple box of postcards from selfridges once. Were from MOMA in new York. Were so handy for notes and thankyou cards

BelligerentGhoul · 06/12/2010 18:00

I am a 40 year old woman. Does anybody need ideas for one of those?

If so, I say look here immediately!

Now - what to buy for an eight year old boy who likes to record football scores obsessively? Other than a nice notebook, which I have got him (thank you Muji).
