No idea re: rich FIL. Scared of buying rich folk presents!

Bodleian chair was the main thing I loved on their website. £750. Cheeeeeeap. Back to the drawing board! She is a culture vulture, is a member of most museums / galleries and goes to everything at the theatre / ballet etc. Grrr.

MerryMarigold · 06/12/2010 21:38

Where is a good place for afternoon tea? Would people be embarassed 'cashing in' a voucher?

MerryMarigold · 06/12/2010 21:39

pressure, go to covent garden opera house shop.

grobag · 06/12/2010 21:40

Titfer...how about some beautifully bound and swanky notebooks that they can make plans and write lists in?

PressureDrop · 06/12/2010 21:41

The Ritz or Claridges?@MerryMarigold. The Wolesley supposed to be good, too. Been to the Dorchester and it was naff.

Will check out Cov Gard OH shop - ta!

scrappydappydoo · 06/12/2010 21:46

LOL thank you - I am so tempted by the deers head - but she would kill me!! (and confirm everything she already thought!) I like the idea of the posh plant, also like the look of some things on the tate website - hmm lots to ponder...

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 06/12/2010 22:10

Titfer - we had a big refurb/extension last year and moved into rental accom for 7 months. Notepads were my luxury. Box files like this were also well used. Poly pockets, highlighter pens, dongle?

titferbrains · 06/12/2010 22:21

Had considered stationery, but will now start investigating! I am a stationery fiend, looking forward to this....

RolandButter · 06/12/2010 22:22

Booked fortnums for mine (tea)

Look at pong cheese thing for fil.

titferbrains · 06/12/2010 22:22

the box file is pretty cool, will get that for my mum!

RolandButter · 06/12/2010 22:23

Or for self build (her) done nice warm socks or candle.
Or some posh meals delivered

lycheemartini · 06/12/2010 22:24

Anybody seen a nice gym bag, or what would pass for one, for my Mum? Thanks.

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 06/12/2010 22:24

EB out of stock, I think John Lewis have it though

yes they do here

RolandButter · 06/12/2010 22:25

I mist say the idea of buying for uncles and aunts is nuts. We do immediate family only. Nit even adults. You all need to scale down

SharonGless · 06/12/2010 22:30

furryboots - ta for the links. Not much for 5, 10 and 12 year olds in New Zealand though
Brilliant for their mum whose birthday is in January

mogs0 · 06/12/2010 22:45

Best afternoon tea I've had was at the Waldorf. My sisters are going through an afternoon tea phase (a phase that's been going about 6 years so far Hmm) and we have been to quite a few places. Ritz was fabulous but very posh. We have been to the Wolesley twice - 1st time was great, 2nd time not so great. I've also been to Claridges - too posh for me! The Waldorf was definitely the most relaxed venue.

titferbrains · 06/12/2010 22:48

am getting into this stationery idea. I think I will customise a couple of pukka pads for them each (with pics of their DGD of course)

snice · 06/12/2010 22:54

good things for gardeners at crocus

you can even buy an entire new border with a planting scheme although I suppose you'd need to give a voucher for that until planting season

LunarSeasonsGreetings · 06/12/2010 23:33

Budget buys for keen cooks - bright colourful silicone cup case moulds 6 for £1 standard size, or 10 for £1 mini size at Poundland. Same thing from Lakeland is £6.99 for 8 standard size or £5.99 for 12 for the mini ones.

TheNextMrsClaus · 07/12/2010 00:36

This is a champagne lunch rather than tea, but it is at the Cadogan Hotel near Sloane Square, absolutely gorgeous, three courses and as much champagne as you can drink for £35!!

furrybootsnotjandals · 07/12/2010 07:25

sharongless oops- didn't realise that! There is a mahoosive store that has just gone online and does deliveries everywhere, great prices- their toy section is massive, and they do CDs and DVDs and electrical goods etc for the older kids:
try this and click on toys or whatever at the top menu.

1234ThumbScrew · 07/12/2010 10:11

titferbrains · 07/12/2010 10:23

1234ThumbScrew · 07/12/2010 10:26
