Tikkabillajive · 11/11/2010 18:23

Wow Playmodb is amazing!

Hope you find your owl Tikitikitembo!

Have you all seen the Christmas market on the German website - I think I want that and the sleigh carousel more than the nativity. [heathen]

TabithaTwitchet · 11/11/2010 18:47

Hello Grin

Have just found this thread - it seems to be peopled by like-minded souls!

I have bought DD (3 at Christmas) her first big Playmobil item for her Christmas present - the bus/coach (not sure exactly what it is called). I am so excited, I loved Playmobil as a child, and have been longing for her to be old enough to appreciate it.

Now I have been totally won over to the idea of Advent Calendars too. I am in Germany, have seen the Santa's Workshop ones in the shops, but a bit worried it is too many fiddly bits. Also think that she might not entirely understand what it is supposed to be. I would prefer the Woodland animals one I think, but it isn't available in the shops here as far as I can see - can you still get it easily in the UK?
And does anyone have both sets, and have an opinion on which would be better for a 30 year old woman not-quite 3 year old?

Tikkabillajive · 11/11/2010 19:05

Hi TabithaTwitchet!

We've had the forest animals advent calendar and it is very sweet but still does have lots of tiny bits - I think all the advent calendars do really. This year we've got the post office one, which my mum got on a trip to Germany. Haven't opened it yet and it is at my mum's so I can't really comment on which is more fiddly but I am sure your dd would love it. I actually think it is going to be more exciting than the forest one as it has a little elf and a little angel, so more figures to play with whereas the forest only had Father Christmas who arrived on Christmas Eve. My ds is nearly 3 and I'm certain that he is going to love it!

The bus sounds fab!

TabithaTwitchet · 11/11/2010 20:18

Thanks Tikkabilla, will race wander calmly back to the shop tomorrow for another look. Good point about the figures, DD is certainly a big fan of angels.

The bus will be fab, I think Grin. You can even fit a thing to it to make it remote controlled, although we will see how we get on with just pushing it by hand first.

mogs0 · 11/11/2010 20:29

I've just won this!!

I only really wanted the snowman and the Santa sleigh so I might let ds play with the other bits as a gesture of goodwill Grin!!

DreamTeamGirl · 11/11/2010 23:07

VERY cute Mogs
Good price too, well done

hockeypuck · 12/11/2010 09:24

Whoa mogs0 do you know which kit that is part of. I actually NEED that hockey player with puck and net!! I have to buy one!!!

SoMuchToBits · 12/11/2010 10:17

Tikkabilla

Can't believe that Santa doesn't appear until Christmas Eve in the Christmas in the Forest set! Shock

Our existing Santa will be desperate for help by then!

Tikkabillajive · 12/11/2010 11:13

I might be wrong SoMuch, we had it a couple of years ago now. I could always send a couple of our reserve firemen Father Christmases to help out!

By the way I have my eye on a portacabin complete with Norman lookalike!!! on Ebay. It would seem gloriously incongruous amidst the park/wedding/princess Playmobil we already have!

SoMuchToBits · 12/11/2010 11:20

Oooooooh, a portakabin with Norman lookalike! Does it include Norman's friend Brian as well? The one with the yellow jacket and helmet?

If the new FC doesn't turn up until Christmas Eve, we will have to recruit some of our firemen or police I think. Or maybe some construction workers.....

mogs0 · 12/11/2010 12:40

Hockeypuck - There are a few here. If they're no good, I will consider maybe let you have the ones from yesterdays purchase as I did really only want the snowman and sleigh!

Why does FC need to be out of the advent calendar before Christmas Eve? Isn't that his normal arrival date?

Tikkabillajive · 12/11/2010 12:49

Here it is - is that Brian having a brew with Norman?

SoMuchToBits · 12/11/2010 13:10

Tikkabilla Brian is the one on the right, holding the clipboard!

Mogs yes, I know FC normally arrives Christmas Eve. But we already have a FC, but he is also the Foreign Secretary in Norman the Foreman's cabinet (Norman won the Playmobil election back in May) and he is rather busy what with foreign policy and getting ready for his usual seasonal activities, so we thought he could do with a bit of help! I've just realised, this makes me sound absolutely mad...... Blush

mogs0 · 12/11/2010 13:29

Ha! It's reassuring to see that others are as involved in Playmoland as I am would like to be!!

I'm just going to sort through ds' stash to make room for the new Christmas sets. In the early stages of collecting our ds' Playmobil, I bought a quite a few 2nd hand sets off ebay and we have too many big vehicles so I'm going to put some back on ebay - with ds' permission obviously!

hockeypuck · 12/11/2010 13:55

SOMUCHTOBITS and MOGS0 thanks for the info. I've put a watch on the ebay ones, I did a search but didn't find them so thanks for that! Now my playmobil collection is getting a little exciting!!

hockeypuck · 12/11/2010 14:39

WHSmith currently have 25% off some playmobil sets including pirates, knights and shark divers...oh and a Dad with a stroller Biscuit

SoMuchToBits · 12/11/2010 15:47

Will have a look next time I'm in there. Although I have done most of my Chrustmas Playmobil shopping already.

mogs0 · 12/11/2010 21:10

Is there a website where I can check which bits belong with which Playmobil set?

SoMuchToBits · 12/11/2010 21:48

Yes - Playmodb

You can search for the sets by theme. You can see pictures of each set, and then each set has an inventory which lists all the parts and the part number for each one.

oftenpurple · 13/11/2010 04:29

Another Playmobil fan, errr, MNetter with DC who are Playmobil fans...I'm seriously considering the Magic Castle for DD (4) this year as her big Christmas present. Has anyone got it? Is it as fab as it looks?

We've got the camper van, animal clinic, various unicorn bits and the royal carriage. I think DC play with their Playmobil collection more than anything other than the plastic animal collection and DS's cars.

SoMuchToBits · 13/11/2010 10:30

oftenpurple I can't give an opinion on the magic castle, as I only have a ds, who isn't very interested in magic castles. However, we do have a lot of police/fire/construction/airport etc sets, so do feel free to ask about any of those!

mogs0 · 13/11/2010 17:43

OMG - I'd love to buy this.

mamatomany · 13/11/2010 18:49

Wow somebody has had fun with that and not the DC's by the look of the positioning of the people !
