Festive austerity?! Slubber, rumours are circulating that Norman now uses his teabag twice, resting it on one of those little countertop dishes in between. Can you confirm or deny this?

If true, I have to hand it to him, he does set a good example. Reduce, reuse, recycle.

DirtyMartini · 11/11/2010 12:45

Sorry, I meant SoMuchToBits, not Slubber :)

SoMuchToBits · 11/11/2010 12:48

Well, since you ask, I have to report that the Playmo economy is in a much better state than the British one! So no need for austerity measures here. Norman is a generous sort of chap though, so always offers a hot beverage to anyone who comes to see him. Smile

Where are you all getting these nativity sets from? When I look for it, all I can find are ones like this one:-

www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-GB-Site/en_GB/Product-Show?pid=3996&cgid=

which only seems to have one king and no shepherd? yours sound better than that!

DS has the playground, the mini house, the police car, two police bikes and the campervan.
He is getting the take away police station and police helicopter for Christmas from grandparents and possibly the fire station for his birthday.

SoMuch - you are inspirational in your playmobil activity - your DS must have an awesome imagination thanks to you. You're inspiring me to play with my son more (at the moment I use playmobil far too much as a babysitting tool!)

hockeypuck · 11/11/2010 13:05

Sorry, forgot to link it properly.

GB-Site/en_GB/Product-Show?pid=3996&cgid=

Slubberdegullion · 11/11/2010 13:30

The site welshandproud linked to a bit further down the thread has my nativity set and the 3 kings set.

SoMuchToBits · 11/11/2010 13:34

Lol hockeypuck, ds does have an awesome imagination, but I don't think it's particularly down to me! We bothe just love the stuff though, and can spend ages talking and playing Playmobil Blush. But ds will happily go and play with it for hours on his own too!

ChippyMinton · 11/11/2010 16:05

Anyone got snow yet? Last winter when the DC got cold/bored playing outside, we filled baking trays with snow and put them on the kitchen floor so the playmo peeps could go skiing and snomobiling.

TheRedSalamander · 11/11/2010 16:09

re: storage- FC left one of these for dc when he was 3 along with the pirate ship he left at the same time. Must admit that my favourite bit of playmobil is organising tidying sorting categorising and I spent the first 6 months of ds1 playing with the sodding thing despearately trying to make sure all the little pieces were present. Didn't work they are now strewn to the four corners of the house, mostly congregating in my dressing gown pockets.

(Tikkabilla when ds1 he was 3 he LOVED it- ds2 is now 3 and doesn't yet "get" it- give it a go, you'll love it even if ds doesn't ;)

SoMuchToBits · 11/11/2010 16:17

No snow yet Chippy - but I like the idea of Playmo people skiing. We have a pair of waterskis.....do you think Norman could use them for snow skiing too?

With regard to storage, we have several enormous plastic storage boxes to house our Playmobil. They are known as "The police box" "the leisure box" etc

ChippyMinton · 11/11/2010 16:23

Norman would be game, but the H&S inspector may step in. Better get him into a proper ski school (i had this set for my birthday from DH)

Tikitikitembo · 11/11/2010 16:33

That ski set is lovely.

Does anybody know if there is a playmobil set with an owl in it?

DD wants a playmobil owl for christmas. I have found some on ebay but they are five pounds for a tiny owl Sad

stealthsquiggle · 11/11/2010 16:36

OMG have I caused some major rift in the Playmobil space-time continuum (sp?) Shock? - all our 4 FCs live in the 'other' box with random people who do not fall into the major categories of farm, police, knights, romans or airport.

SoMuchToBits · 11/11/2010 16:38

The ski set looks great, Chippy! Am Shock that your dh will buy you Playmobil for your birthday

stealthsquiggle · 11/11/2010 16:38

We have a lovely playmobil owl. I know this because he modelled for me when I was making a small icing owl for some cake or other. The more challenging question is where he came from. I have a feeling it was a forest-themed advent calendar.

SoMuchToBits · 11/11/2010 16:40

Our FC (who was a "Special" and not from an advent calendar) generally lives in the leisure box. But at the moment he is attending a cabinet meeting.

Oh, and ds wants to know what sort of subtle differences exist between the FCs....

stealthsquiggle · 11/11/2010 16:44

Ask me again tomorrow SoMuch - I will be at home all day so I will find as many of them as I can and take a photo for you and DS!

SoMuchToBits · 11/11/2010 16:46

Thank you Stealth! I'm intrigued.....

I am also trying to think of where an owl might have come from.... I don't think we have one in our collection.

stealthsquiggle · 11/11/2010 17:00

He's not from "Christmas in the Forest" - still looking....

Tikkabillajive · 11/11/2010 17:20

The 'Christmas in the Park' advent calendar featured an owl - you could try Playmobil direct Tikitikitembo?

Thanks for pirate ship feedback RedSalamander. I am still undecided. We have lots of playmobil already but ds is still mostly at the stage of dismantling it and putting tiny bits down the backs of radiators, although he likes the fire engine a lot.

SoMuchToBits · 11/11/2010 17:27

If you can find the part number for the owl (from the instruction sheet of the set it came from) you can phone the Playmobil direct service and order it as a "spare part". These are usually very cheap, but take a while to arrive, as they come from Germany.

stealthsquiggle · 11/11/2010 17:28

You beat me to it - Playmobil 4152 Christmas in the Park Advent Calendar is where our owl came from - if you search for that in the playmodb site (whose url I have mislaid) you should be able to find a spares number for owl and order him direct.

stealthsquiggle · 11/11/2010 17:32

it's playmodb.org, and owl's part number details are

30 66 5950 Owl (white; tan)

SoMuchToBits · 11/11/2010 17:55

Playmodb is the fount of all knowledge (on things Playmobil!)

Tikitikitembo · 11/11/2010 18:08

Oh you wonderful people thank you !
