Called back to consultant after DS brain MRI

hello, my DS aged 7 has been having nausea, sickness and headaches since November and through lots of pushing managed to get an MRI which was on Monday eve - we were told to expect results in 2 weeks. Today I received a phone call from the paediatric consultants secretary asking myself and hubby to go in tomorrow at noon. I’m terrified. Has anyone else got experience of this? What’s scared me most is that they have asked me to bring hubby. They have requested that we don’t bring DS. I don’t even know what I’m asking for on this thread, maybe someone that has been in a similar situation? Thanks x

Oh bless him, over the moon they've removed the tumour, how incredible. Proper tears reading your update about him face timing, he sounds so brave 💐

juniorcakeoff · 28/06/2022 11:32

Have they given him a morphine controlled drip? My DC got a bit trigger happy with it in the end 😬😁we ended up going onto diazepam after the first day which was better for being able to move around and less grumpy! The hate all the wires so our goal was to get rid of them asap.

Great news OP. I hope it's benign and he will now recover and get on with his life without any more treatment being needed.

Such a shame it took so long for anyone to take it seriously but at least they've acted now.

Well done on being such a great advocate for your son and he sounds like a real character! I hope your other children are coping with this all too x

Oh god I just shed a tear reading this thread. I'm so happy for you Op! Such a brave boy you have x

InChocolateWeTrust · 28/06/2022 11:58

I've stayed in that RM house myself. The PICU and HDU nurses in JR are brilliant. I'll never forget "the two Lauras" who looked after my DC there!!

Thinking of you & your DC OP.

Lydali · 28/06/2022 12:02

So glad he is doing well x

lizzielizard · 28/06/2022 12:03

Oh what truly fabulous news! Onwards and upwards, slowly and gently. Everything remains crossed and you all remain in my thoughts as your sweet boy recovers. What a week you've had @nearlymumof5. Thank goodness, we can't see into the future!

spiderlight · 28/06/2022 12:07

Oh, that is excellent news!

SunsetandCupcakes · 28/06/2022 12:12

Brilliant news op, wishing him a quick recovery and hoping for good news in 7 days.

Regards the breaking, in my experience and from talking to others in groups, the break tends to come when you least expect it. Mine came when I couldn't get a trolley out of the trolley park (it was wedged into another trolley) I suddenly became completely overwhelmed and completely broke down. Be kind to yourself .

LizzieSiddal · 28/06/2022 12:14

I’m so pleased to read how well the operation has gone- sending love and best wishes to you all.x
