Called back to consultant after DS brain MRI

hello, my DS aged 7 has been having nausea, sickness and headaches since November and through lots of pushing managed to get an MRI which was on Monday eve - we were told to expect results in 2 weeks. Today I received a phone call from the paediatric consultants secretary asking myself and hubby to go in tomorrow at noon. I’m terrified. Has anyone else got experience of this? What’s scared me most is that they have asked me to bring hubby. They have requested that we don’t bring DS. I don’t even know what I’m asking for on this thread, maybe someone that has been in a similar situation? Thanks x

So relieved to hear they got it all! Sounds like your little guy is a champion! Hope the pain and sickness are under control asap!

I’ve been following your thread @nearlymumof5 and I am so pleased that your news has been so positive. Much love to you and your son.

Brilliant news op, wishing him a quick recovery and hoping for good news in 7 days.

Regards the breaking, in my experience and from talking to others in groups, the break tends to come when you least expect it. Mine came when I couldn't get a trolley out of the trolley park (it was wedged into another trolley) I suddenly became completely overwhelmed and completely broke down. Be kind to yourself .

I second this. My breakdown came when I got my children to a sports thing a few mins late. Not a matter for adult tears as a rule!

Be really kind to yourselves in the days ahead. You have actually been through (and are going through) more than your DC ...and you will remember it all.

Another one who welled up at your update. That is the best news. I am so pleased for you all!

FavouritePi · 28/06/2022 12:54

I had a little cry reading your updates today, OP.

I'm so happy for you and your family and I hope everything goes well with the results in a couple of weeks.

You've handled this amazingly. Wishing you all the best Flowers

MrJi · 28/06/2022 12:57

Very good news OP that the op went so well .

DollieBantrysPantry · 28/06/2022 13:00

So chuffed for you all with the update, its wonderful news

ApolloandDaphne · 28/06/2022 13:00

I hope your DS continues to make positive progress. Go easy on yourself. The stress and anxiety you have been keeping in check will probably be unleashed now you can let down your guard slightly.

HazelBite · 28/06/2022 13:15

Pleased to read your update, do look after yourself too x

spanishmumireland · 28/06/2022 13:20

I am really really happy for you OP, this is all good news, one step at a time. Mind yourselves, this is really stressful for all your family. xx

RogersOrganismicProcess · 28/06/2022 13:25

Fantastic news op. What a little star. Well done that medical team. Fingers crossed for a swift recovery.

Mariposista · 28/06/2022 13:33

Very happy to hear the op went well and that your son has had. fairly comfortable night. The RM Foundation is fantastic - so much better for you and family to be able to rest away from the hospital ward - lying on a camp bed in your son's room would leave you exhausted and unable to be there for him fully. We are so lucky to have this service, as well as the fantastic surgeons and hospital teams. Rooting for you!!!!! I hope your brilliant son will soon be showing off his war wounds to his mates, bragging about how brave he was and just being a normal kid.

WishILivedInThrushGreen · 28/06/2022 13:39

So very pleased to read your update. Hope that his recovery is swift and that you can all go home very soon.

It will sink in at some point but for now you are almost on autopilot.

💐

So glad the operation went well!
remember to look after yourself

morekidsthanhands1 · 28/06/2022 13:43

Been following the thread and am so utterly thrilled that the op went well and he is recovering. Kids are so resilient! You all sound like a lovely family that have helped each other thru a very tough time. As other posters have said tho, be kind to yourself and just go with the emotions x

Ishacoco · 28/06/2022 13:44

That's amazing news! So, so pleased for you all.
Ronald McDonald accommodation is one of the few charities I support regularly. It was a lifesaver for us when dd was in hospital for surgery.

You do what you need to do to keep yourself able to mother him. You know what you need, and a decent sleep in a bed is insurance against a night when you can't leave him. Good for you.

Re break - many mothers in your situation cope and cope and cope, and once things are less stressful - that's when you break.

You'll cope for now because you have to because he needs you.

LakieLady · 28/06/2022 14:19

So glad that the surgery went well, and so promptly. Your DS sounds like a very resilient little chap!

It's nice to hear something good about the NHS. Places like the JR are really something special imo.

MWNA · 28/06/2022 14:30

Gosh I'm so relieved for you all.

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/06/2022 14:35

That is brilliant news! What a relief to you all. I hope your ds will soon be back to his old self again.
