i will show her your message paddy! i agree with both of you. Who would want to be hooked up to something 24/7??

accidentprawn · 30/01/2012 15:53

she went to the clinic today. she told them she wont have the pump and they havent objected. They did say that it would make managing it easier but they couldn`t change her mind.

accidentprawn · 31/01/2012 16:22

do you wonderful women think that DN would be daft to turn down the pump??
sis has come down to york as dad is ill with pneumonia. she has said she would like her to have the pump but isn`t going to push her. what do you think?

paddyclamp · 31/01/2012 18:57

Don't let anyone brain wash her into thinking she's a second class citizen not having the pump...besides, it's not something that if she turns it down now she can't pursue in the future

This is my take on it..

Going on the pump means one injection every few days, ie when you change the site rather than 4 / 5 injections a day .... so if you hated the injections the pump wins

People who are the pump love it because you can eat pretty much what you want and when because you just bolus some short acting...but that's what i do anyway with the novorapid, except i take an injection whenever

Being attatched to something is the big downside for me..what about when you're in the shower / at the beach in a bikini / want to go swimming or .... let's be blunt, as an adult when you are having...ahem ... !

accidentprawn · 31/01/2012 19:00

paddy! im shocked, i thought better of you lol!

i will tell sis whenim not as tired as a brain washed zombie!! im back from hozzy in the morning.

tbh i think she will stick with injections. as you have said when she wants to wear bikinis what happens, have a bath/shower??

paddyclamp · 31/01/2012 19:05

how's your foot by the way?!

accidentprawn · 31/01/2012 19:09

my foots getting better! its in a moonboot now, i am back at work sadly!

DD is such a help though at the moment.

paddyclamp · 02/02/2012 21:44

are things any better?

accidentprawn · 03/02/2012 15:44

she went home from school today. She had a hypo and could not recover.

My foot is getting better. The moonboot is off in 4 weeks.

how are you paddy?

paddyclamp · 03/02/2012 17:22

I've been very low over the last few days too...i honestly think it's the cold Confused

accidentprawn · 03/02/2012 17:40

is there a link? it has been freezing where she is -4!
in york it was -7 this morning.

paddyclamp · 04/02/2012 11:34

i think there is, cos i'm always like this when it's really cold! could be all the shivering i guess....it was -4 when i drove to work yesterday, not ventured out today yet!

accidentprawn · 04/02/2012 14:48

ooh! thats interesting...

accidentprawn · 05/02/2012 08:24

she has had a hypo yesterday, after being outside in the snow :o
it was -6 i do agree with your expert theory that it is linked.

paddyclamp · 05/02/2012 11:41

when she was diagnosed did she present with all the classic symptoms?

accidentprawn · 05/02/2012 12:39

yes she did paddy. frequent toilet trips, increased thirst.

paddyclamp · 06/02/2012 14:55

Fair enough...sounds like her insulin producing cells are putting up a good fight! .... Maybe she's the key to the cure!
;)

accidentprawn · 06/02/2012 19:07

:) ... the key to the cure in my family!!

accidentprawn · 07/02/2012 16:37

paddy. how are you??
she is okay - no hypos today!

im fine except the foot and im freezing!!

paddyclamp · 09/02/2012 16:35

i'm not too bad at the minute thanks Prawn...pretty stable on the diabetes front i have to say! went a bit low yesterday but i was able to deal with it! how's DN?

accidentprawn · 11/02/2012 11:27

shes ok thanks
sorry i haven`t posted in a while. been busy!!

accidentprawn · 11/02/2012 14:57

paddy... its her birthday next week. i am baking a cake... ( a disaster in itself!) are there any recipes out there??

paddyclamp · 11/02/2012 15:10

Just bake a normal cake :) maybe use cream rather than icing but either way she can cover it with short acting insulin..well not literally but you know what i mean!

accidentprawn · 11/02/2012 15:20

i thought that sounded strange! my cake covered in insulin! cream instead of icing.
strange to think that she is going to be 13! nearly DDs turn..

accidentprawn · 12/02/2012 07:44

am going to bake the cake today...
its her birthday tomorrow- they are coming down to york so i don`t have to travel to them :)

how are you paddy??
