@SL93 you sound in the same situation as me u have more evidence than we do my sons 2 years 4 months non verbal I have support from senco at nursery, referal for autism acceptance letter referal for speech and language acceptance and peadtrician acceptance letter hearing test results and what I’ve wrote I’m expecting a decline don’t feel I went into enough detail suppose it’s a wait a see, my son needs constant supervision at sleep time as he tries to get under mattress which nursery have backed up and chews through dummies like there sweets has zero understanding

Yes the nursery and the speech therapist have backed up everything I have said and added more for the difficulties he faces outside of home. My son is the same constant supervision no sense of danger etc that is also in there. I didn’t get written hearing test results when I took him they just told me he was fine. So I wrote that in there but no evidence. I just hope what I’ve sent is enough. The closer it gets the more anxious I am

Gemmaoscar · 28/02/2024 11:06

@SL93 we got it through the posts results so I just sent that along with all referrals it’s hard when the wait is so long he hasn’t had his 2 year assessment yet but I know he won’t do great on it, everything is such a long wait hope all goes well and you get what ur boy deserves xx

Tangerin · 28/02/2024 11:16

Ahh. Scan date 13/12, with DM.
What is driving me mad is CA. I applied 6 weeks ago and there is no reason why they shouldn't award it. So why is it taking so long?. I rang yesterday and they put it some priority message to the team but come on.
I am just fed up with that part because all they have to do is put the figures into their calculator and see that yes, I am earning below the threasdhold and then calculate the pay and send it. It is not like the DLA claim. Agh

mummyof3girlsx · 28/02/2024 12:07

@Tangerin is this a new claim? xx

Muvva1981 · 28/02/2024 12:08

@Gemmaoscar just seen your comment and it’s like reading about my Elliott . Called for forms 9/11, scanned 30/11, letter saying it be up to 15 weeks wait on 17th Jan. so much waiting . I hope you get awarded

Gemmaoscar · 28/02/2024 12:17

@Muvva1981 its awful isn’t it, I think writing about him on paper was hard and don’t think I wrote enough but we shall see hopefully it’s over soon and we all get what our babies deserve if he gets this he gets more funding for nursery which will give him 1-1 my scam date is 3/11 so hopefully not much longer x

That’s what I need it for nursery funding for more 1-1 and catered activities plus support groups and centres I try to get him into want either a DLA letter or diagnosis letter. But been told by HV it looks like my wait is going to be approx a year to even be seen by a pediatrician so we really need this DLA acceptance letter or he will be almost ready for school before he gets any support x

Gemmaoscar · 28/02/2024 12:29

@SL93 its such a fight, nursery have been amazing if it wasn’t for them we probably wouldn’t have a referal in place but he needs more and il fight till he gets it xx

I’m waiting should hear about a decision at the end of March and I feel like there’s no much riding on this to be able to get my son more support, I’m really struggling with it. I just wondered if there’s anyone who’s been awarded without diagnosis? My son in almost 3 and can say very few words but does not communicate what so ever and has very little understanding of basic day to day acitivites. I obviously don’t have evidence from many health professionals but I did have…a couple of letters from speech therapy with statements of discussions, plus an additional letter detailing observation and referring for autism assessments (but that wait is a long one) a statement from the SEN at his nursery detailing how difficult the day can be for him, 2 year health visitor check to show not meeting milestones, multiple nursery assessments saying not at target and then a statement from myself of day to day life/difficulties. I’m just wondering if anyone in a similar position has been awarded. I’m terrified it gets declined as I have support groups and everything for him where they need a DLA letter or diagnosis but this seems to be quicker, the nursery can also get more funding to support his needs. TIA x

Edited

I sent nothing like absolutely nothing, I don't have evidence due to moving and threw away most of the letters from hospitals 🙃 hes in a sen nursery he turned 3 in December, I gave them all 4 hospitals that he's with as he was on a ventilatior Nov 2022 (he became to tired to breathe) then and there he was diagnosed with asthma, he also doesn't speak full sentences just a few words ball apple ect ect, he has a hearing test book check ups. I sent nothing so expecting a decline for that. He has a referral to peds awaiting and my HV is keeping tabs. He's on meds for his asthma both puffer and tablets to prevent attacks. I explained in my application that the reason I couldn't send anything is because I cant find it yet, they requested his birth certificate beginning of Dec sent it back last week so I hoped they got all they needed

Emma2345 · 28/02/2024 12:48

Ok thanks for your reply and letting me know howLong they’re taking we got MRC but we’ve decided to appeal as they only mentioned the child needed day time needs when she actually needs day/night

I am planning to do MR for this reason as well. Hopefully by next week I will have everything I need and can post off MR form with evidence.

thank you xx

Make sure you do a change of circumstance for child. Then after put message in journal under payments about the DLA award and when it started and request that payments for disabled child element added and backdated.

For carers element:

Also change circumstance to state that you are now caring for someone.

Then journal entry under payments and do the same as above.

I did this and had carers element added and backdated same day. Waiting on decision maker to approve and backdate disabled child element.

ThemysteriousH · 28/02/2024 13:16

@mummyof3girlsx @STEPH691 @bonz2023 my scan date is 3/11, when I spoke to them yesterday they said it’ll be last week March earliest, probably April!
Hasn’t gone to DM either 😔
I’ll be gutted if it’s declined after this long wait!

susansaucepan · 28/02/2024 13:17

Has anyone received a letter telling them they are now guardians of their child's DLA and a list of responsibilities etc ?
