My daughter with Down syndrome and sever hyper mobility was declined our MR for HRM today. She is also currently being assessed for autism. I'm so disappointed for her and feel very deflated when things are already hard enough. I'm going to take it to tribunal

DWP are horrendous. My husband is an above knee amputee and struggled to get low rate mobility.

Hayz0711 · 26/01/2024 11:26

@ohhollyfred that’s unbelievable!
I am currently gathering more evidence as I know he’ll be refused HRM. He has serious heart conditions too & has absolutely no understanding of any of them. I will fight on! We have to for our kids x

PouchyMama · 26/01/2024 11:33

Scan date 21/9, currently on hold. Really feel it will be declined, I sent to forms in September when LO was 21 months. ASD pathway but not diagnosed yet. Sent his Section 23 and his Schedule Of Growing Skills, his ASQ at the time and his SALT referral sheet. Just really worried and would love to know I could use the money for extra hours at nursery when he starts his 15 hrs in April, and that nursery would be able to get funding for his needs whilst there. This is literally a whole new world for us. Best of luck to everyone xx

DanniiB1983 · 26/01/2024 11:33

@ohhollyfred I'm sorry to hear your MR was declined. What date did you put in the MR please? I'm worried we are going to have to do tribunal also 😔

Downtoyou · 26/01/2024 11:35

Just found this thread, scan date 29/09, hoping to hear soon

Asked for some advice on FB page & apparently autism & Down Syndrome don’t class as SMI. Wow! Some people really are that stupid?!🤦‍♀️
Think I’ll be sticking to this group from now on!

Really? That's terrible. I guess people do not understand things unless they was faced with them. Don't let it bother you 😊

I’m sorry to hear this. Keep going, you’ve got this! So sad we have to fight for what our children deserve x

Bell27x · 26/01/2024 11:40

Just seen on Facebook someone woke up to money and forms scanned 26-10 it’s ridiculous

Bell27x · 26/01/2024 11:42

And another with DM from 23rd

ohhollyfred · 26/01/2024 11:58

Is it true that they are only allowed to approve a certain % of appeals each month to fit with their targets??

My MR was sent in on 28 November. I called last week and the lady said it accidentally not been put in the queue so she said she would fast track it. I then got a letter from them on 19 Jan saying we are looking again at your request and will be back in touch within 11 weeks then a second letter dated 21 Jan saying exactly the same apart from 15 weeks instead of 11 and then today I called to question the letters and get told it's been declined. All the while lots of people with MR scan dates similar to me are being approved. I'm not questioning whether or not they should have been approved but I'm feeling like they 'forgot' about my MR then rushed it through without proper consideration and potentially with no more room in their % target to accept anyway whereas If it had been looked at in its correct order and timescale the outcome might have not been rushed and might have been at a stage where they were permitted to accept

PouchyMama · 26/01/2024 12:11

Finally answered. Confirmed that it's now with the CM. Scan date 21/9

Can I ask, did you already have an award and were doing an MR to get HRM? x

Holllymum · 26/01/2024 12:40

Lulakate84 · 26/01/2024 10:59

I had physio letters but didn't put in school personal plan which I will send I thought they would contact them etc just devastated x

I can imagine hoping they change there mind for you

ohhollyfred · 26/01/2024 12:41

Yes she already receives HRC but I put the application in for HRM on 8 June when she turned 3

KateLouise123 · 26/01/2024 12:45

Hey! I've received two letters so far, no texts. Scan date 17th October. Is no texts a bad thing? Got to rush of my daughters early help plan and we've now got a family support worker after months of asking for some help! Fingers crossed.

Hayz0711 · 26/01/2024 12:48

@ohhollyfred my son got HRM between ages 3-6 years but he was very late to walk due to his many health issues. He’s now 13 & will get enhanced rate for both when he goes over to PIP in less than 3 years time, so why is he not entitled to it now?! Can your daughter walk at all? I’d definitely recommend seeking help from Citizen's Advice, they helped with my son’s application at that age x

Lisa3kids · 26/01/2024 12:52

Scan date 28/9 feeling really anxious now my son is 15 next month had two knee ops which has affected his mobility recently been told he has dyspraxia which is why physio isn’t working on his knee recovery but too old to formally diagnose he just got a letter from OT saying he was on the bottom centille will he age make a difference as pip starts from 16

Don’t worry I think 2 letters and no texts seems to be the norm for your scan date, you should receive your first text at 15 weeks I believe x
