@Tiredmumofmadam1 my DC has been approved for one but they are currently 15 weeks over their own 20 week target 🫣 the SENCO and I have both made complaints but they just keep saying we're understaffed and are trying to sort it ASAP 😒

Hi all, as I live in Wales is the EHCP called the IDP instead or is that something else?

FlutterByASD · 24/01/2024 10:22

Got throught after 50 mins. Really lovely gentleman updated some details for me and said it hasn't been assigned to a case manager yet, it is due to be sent over in the next week and if I haven't heard anything by the 7th of Feb to call back.

Also got through - 52 mins! Lovely man told me it is with a Case Manager now and I should hear in 1-2 weeks.

FlutterByASD · 24/01/2024 10:29

FlutterByASD · 24/01/2024 10:42

@Ashh1998 You can ask them to hold off on making a decision until they have recieved your additional evidence. Hopefully you get through soon!

I can never get through no matter what time I ring... Once before Christmas I did when I was told 21-22weeks and to ring back in March... Seems they are getting through September quite quickly though

Senmam · 24/01/2024 10:48

@Tashanddaryn i think it’s regardless of income and its added ontop of child tax part

Hotpinkangel19 · 24/01/2024 10:49

@FlutterByASD @Hotpinkangel19 55 mins so far and still on hold. Fingers crossed for you both!

@FlutterByASD got through 5 mins ago, was advised to wait 3 weeks then call back as I'm 17 weeks. Lovely gentleman on the phone also advised to hold off on sending evidence until we have a decision in case we need to do MR? Anyone else been told anything similar?

FlutterByASD · 24/01/2024 11:08

@Ashh1998 That surprises me as I've always thought you should give them all available evidence to ensure they make an accurate decision 🤔

Just thought I’d add I just rang as we’re due to move house in 3 weeks and I thought we’d of had a decision by now, she said currently taking up to 20 weeks (we’re on week 15) but she told me to ring with the address once we’ve moved and they should be able to tell me if there’s been a decision by then. So hoping it’s more like 18 weeks than 20! 🙏

Thanks for sharing that.

I'm 17 weeks too, and because we have ongoing SALT involvement, Paeds, Physio, Podiatry, CAMHS, etc things are moving and changing all the time. DD already had many official diagnoses at the point of applying, including ASD. DD has had further referrals and also a diagnosis of Situational Mutism since first applying, so I feel like I could be sending further evidence every week. For this reason, I've held off and kept anything additional in case of MR.

I think it's different to, say, applying while on the ASD pathway, then getting that diagnosis. For something like that, I'd definitely send. Especially if it formed the main part of the application.

Hope that makes sense.

Just seeing if anyone is in the same sort of situation as me.
My son was diagnosed with ODD last year and I sent claim forms off last month.
His ODD makes him very aggressive and the the he's getting (he's 12) the harder it is to control him and protect myself. I did note this in the claim.
He mentions killing myself and his dad everyday, wishes us dead and then starts talking about he shouldn't be alive, he wishes he was dead etc.
Obviously due to this, I do have to hide things from him, knives etc.
My other reasoning for submitting the claim was that at 12 years old he still sleeps with me, he can't go to sleep and stay asleep without me there. I sent off a 5 day sleep diary, he wakes up 2/3 times a night and wakes me up also just to make sure I am still there.
I think he'll be declined DLA as it's only my word, to say I'm constantly exhausted is an understatement as I also work full time and don't get a great sleep each night, he is constantly touched me at night and he takes up most of the bed (I have a king-size bed) I find myself waking up 2/3 times a night to push him over to his side also
The paediatrician gave me tips on how to get him to fall asleep by himself but he's very manipulative and controlling and it's just very hard.
Sorry this is so long, just wondering if anyone had the same sort of situation as me. As soon as he was diagnosed the paediatrician discharged him
